Slayer - 5x18 - Power

THE SUMMERS HOUSEHOLD
THE MAN pulled the GUN out and fired…he hit RIVER, the fired again hitting JOEY, then again hitting MARTY. SHANE leapt to his feet and ran behind a tree.
BEN ran out of the house.
Ben: RIVER!?
BEN saw the dark man.
BEN started to run towards him, the DARK MAN fired a shot at BEN, which hit BEN’S CHEST.
BEN fell to the ground starring up at the SUN.
BECKY ran outside.
BECKY SCREAMS as the GUN SHOOTS again
The BULLET flies at BECKY and BOUNCES right off. BECKY’S face swells with TEARS…her sorrow turns to quick hatred…she looks at the MAN.
THE MAN opens more shots at her, but they all BOUNCE OFF until he’s out.
BECKY uses her powers as a GOD and runs at the MAN very FAST.
BECKY appears behind THE MAN. THE MAN turns to run away but BECKY grabs him by his throat and with ease BRINGS him off the ground.
Becky: Who sent you?
Man: No one sent me…I work alone.
Becky: Who are you?
BECKY ripped the MAN’S SKI MASK OFF to reveal…
PRINCIPAL LAYNE HUNT.
Becky: You murdered two Slayers…two of MY FAMILY. You will die.
Layne: Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
LAYNE kicked BECKY. BECKY dropped LAYNE, and LAYNE high tailed it out of there.
BECKY looked around at the CARNAGE before her.
Becky: RYAN! RYAN HURRY!
RYAN ran outside, his jaw dropped as he saw the BLOOD everywhere, then seeing the bodies.
Becky: Call an ambulance quick!
BECKY ran over to BEN.
Becky: You’re not leaving me. This isn’t how you’re leaving me. This isn’t the way a Slayer is supposed to go!
FOCUS on BEN’S FACE. He blinks, but says nothing…as his eyes open from blinking again, the CAMERA zooms into his EYES, and into a VERY WHITE ROOM.
BEN stands with RIVER, MARTY and JOEY.
Joey: What’s going on?
Ben: I think we’re in exile.
Marty: What happened?
Ben: Pretty sure we were all shot.
River: How are we all together right now?
Ben: Probably some psychic phenomena. If only Tara had gotten shot…she’d know how to get us out.
River: Ben! That wasn’t nice.
Ben: Sorry, that was my defense. In all honesty…I’m scared.
River: You are?
BEN looked at his brother.
Ben: Look…I’ve died, like three times, I think. At least twice, anyway, do you realize that I don’t look forward to this?
River: You’ve been here before.
Ben: Duh. This is the Trial Room.
River: Trial Room?
Ben: It’s a place where you’re sent to when you die, or before you die, spiritually, and higher beings determine where you will go.
MARTY and JOEY looked scared.
Ben: I don’t mean to scare you two. I mean, for example, I was sent to heaven twice – maybe the 3rd time is the charm.
Joey: But I’m only 16! I’m not ready to die! I’m too young to die!
Ben: You don’t control that. It’s your time when it’s your time.
Joey: Well someone needs to call Tara and get a huge resurrection spell going.
A FAMILIAR FEMALE VOICE fills the room.
Woman: You can’t reverse that many deaths without a price.
THE FOUR guys turn to see…
ANYA.
Anya: Believe me, I would know.
Ben: Anya?
THE SUMMERS FRONT YARD
AN AMBULENCE rolls up, the CAMERA pans to each of the FOUR VICTIMS, and then blackens out quickly.
BLACK SCREEN to OPENING CREDITS – END of TEASER
A Zoom in of Charger City at night. “SLAYER” appears in red text. Scenes of BEN, RIVER and PARA all armed with stakes, facing down some vampires.
BEN ran after BOB and started to pummel him. BEN leapt off the ROPE and landed on top of CLARK. He took the AXE end of the SCYTHE and rammed it through CLARK’S NECK – CLARK exploded into DUST.
[Starring Ben] BEN dives through a window and pulls out a crossbow with a flaming arrow on the end. He releases the trigger and hits a VAMPIRE which explodes into dust
BRAD is thrown forward by an explosion.
PARA throws a blue glowing orb at a DEMON. She dances with BEN at a NIGHTCLUB. PARA and DAC face each other down. [Para girl] PARA glares in rage at BEN.
SHANE and MARTY begin to whisper a chant.
RIVER walks into his high school, greeted by SHANE and MARTY. RIVER punches DAC in the face, knocking him backwards. [Jedi A. Malcolm] VAMPIRES surround RIVER, he spins around with a sword, decapitating them all as they turn to dust.
RIVER dives at some UberVamps in rage.
TARA looks through her books of spells. TARA kisses MANDY on the lips. [JP3 Girl] TARA’S body splits in too DARK MAGIC and LIGHT MAGIC. Tara fires an electric blue beam at a DEMON.
BOB KLINE laughs uncontrollably.
RYAN lifted his leg and swung across connecting to the VAMPS faces. In a desperate move, RYAN staked one and turned it to dust. RYAN spars with BEN. [Dark Hunter] RYAN’S hands glow and they produce lightning. RYAN throws a DEMON onto a pike.
MICHELLE dives for a SWORD in the middle of a battle. MICHELLE and RIVER patrol a graveyard, holding hands [Yvonne] MICHELLE looks teary-eyed at FALCON.
FIRE FORMED in her eyes and channeled all the way down to her hands, forming two balls of fire. THE BALLS expanded. MANDY released the balls at BEN’S VAMPS setting them ablaze. The VAMPS turned to DUST. [Mandee] MANDY and TARA hug.
FALCON threw a fist at the BACK of THE HOST releasing MICHELLE.
THE HOST snapped around fast and RETALIATED with a PUNCH sending FALCON through the ROOF! [And Matt McGuire as The Host]THE HOST picked up the SLEDGE HAMMER and started to ram it into MAJESTIC.
BEN and RIVER walk the streets of CHARGER CITY with their BLACK coats flapping in the wind as if they were capes. On the screen - [Series Created by Ben Smythe]
COMMERCIAL
ACT 1
SUNNYDALE, 2001 – 1 MONTH AFTER BUFFY SUMMERS DEATH
GRAVEYARD
BEN looks down at BUFFY’S TOMBSTONE, laying a rose.
[Special Guest Star David Boreanz as Angel]
BEN backed up, hearing footsteps from behind him.
Ben: I’m sorry I couldn’t get here sooner.
Man: You’re not the only one.
The MAN was ANGEL.
Angel: But it’s okay. She died the way a Slayer should…saving the world.
Ben: I think because she died my status has been bumped up.
Angel: No more with the Flooders, all Vamps now?
Ben: Yeah. That and I’ve moved to Charger City.
Angel: That’s right outside LA.
Ben: Yeah, I know.
[Special Guest Star Emma Caulfield as Anya]
BEN, RIVER, JOEY and MARTY appeared, watching the scene.
River: Where are we?
Ben: It’s actually ‘why’ and ‘when’ are we.
River: Does that tombstone say Buffy Summers?
Ben: Yes.
River: She died?
Ben: Yes, but this is…I think this is right after the destruction of Dansville.
River: Is that Angel?
Ben: Yes. River, hush.
[Special Guest Star Bob as Mayor Bob Kline]
ANYA appeared.
Anya: Do you have any idea why you’re watching this?
Ben: Not really. I remember the last time I got to watch me die. But I don’t remember dying here.
Anya: You didn’t, but Angel almost did.
A HUGE DEMON appeared from behind a TOMBSTONE.
THE DEMON wore a WOODEN SUIT of ARMOR
ANGEL pulled BEN behind him.
Ben: Do you see that, Angel? That’s all wood. You bust any of that and he’s got a wooden stake ready for you. Why don’t you let me handle this?
Angel: Get him out of that suit of armor…and I’ll kill him.
BEN charged at THE DEMON, landing SEVERAL kicks, busting the ARMOR. It was very weak.
Demon: I have no business with the Slayer.
Ben: She’s gone.
Demon: No, you.
Ben: Well what’s your beef?
[Guest Starring Aragorn as Shane]
[JP Junkee as Marty]
[PunkNerd as Joey Russo]
BEN punched the DEMON. The DEMON head-butted BEN.
Demon: The Vampire.
Ben: Who sent you?
Demon: Wolfram and Hart.
Ben: What’s Wolfram and Hart?
ANGEL ran in to the FIGHT, PUNCHING the DEMON.
THE DEMON threw his ARM at ANGEL, revealing a SHARP wooden SHARD. BEN pushed ANGEL to the ground.
BEN pulled a DAGGER from his belt and RAMMED it through the DEMON’S STOMACH.
THE DEMON fell down. BEN rammed the DAGGER through the DEMON’S SKULL.
BEN pulled ANGEL up, as ANGEL looked down at the DEMON.

Angel: Why did you ram it through his skull?
Ben: Oh, well, in Psych, we learned how to do lobotomies…
ANGEL smiled, releasing a small laugh.
Ben: Who’s Wolfram and Hart?
Angel: A law firm out in LA, they’re bad news, but you shouldn’t worry about that.
FOCUS back on BEN, RIVER, JOEY, MARTY and ANYA.
Anya: See, Ben, you’ve always put others first before yourself. But you’re not needed in Heaven. I’m a link between them and The Powers That Be.
Ben: I thought you were killed in the destruction of the Hellmouth.
Anya: I was. But my sacrifices have come forward…
Ben: Ah.
Anya: As it stands, you are needed on Earth, something still isn’t finished.
Ben: Right.
[Yvonne as Michelle]
[Icebreaker as Ice]
[Beck-Why as Becky]
[Dan as Dan Finkelstein]
ANYA waved her hands and BEN disappeared.
THE SUMMERS house, FRONT YARD
BEN blinked again.
BECKY hovered over him.
[And Labyrinth as Falcon]
Becky: You’re not leaving!
Ben: I’m not going anywhere.
BEN sat up.
The PARAMEDICS were in shock.
Ben: Where’s Tara?
Becky: She and Mandy are on their way.
Ben: Good.
Paramedic: Sir, you need to get to the hospital.
Ben: What I need is my Scythe and the bastard that did this. I’m fine.
Paramedic: Sir, if you make me I will call the police.
BEN grabbed the PARAMEDIC by the collar of his shirt, and squeezed.
[Episode written and directed by Ben Smythe]
Ben: Sir, if you make me, I will rip your throat off, and make your partners a harder job than they need. You get these kids and get them healed and safe…leave me the hell alone. I have work I have to do.
THE PARAMEDIC swallowed hard.
Very scared, he muttered,
Paramedic: Y-ye-yes, yes sir.
BEN released the PARAMEDIC and ran inside followed by BECKY.
Becky: Ben, that bullet is still in you.
Ben: That’s why I need Tara.
RYAN came from the bathroom.
Ben: Are you okay?
RYAN shook his head…he was very pale.
Ben: What’s wrong?
Ryan: I’ve been around death so much you would think I’m used to it, but seeing four of my friends laying there…I got scared Ben.
BEN grabbed RYAN’S shoulder.
Ben: You’ll be fine. I’m fine, the others will be fine. I need you. Now more than ever, Ryan.
Ryan: What are we doing?
Ben: Something tells me the gunman was Bob…
Becky: It was Layne Hunt.
Ben: River’s Watcher?
DAN came upstairs from the basement.
Dan: What’s going on?
BEN charged at DAN.
Ben: You need to tell me all you know about Layne Hunt.
Dan: Sure, sure. Why?
Ben: Because he just tried to murder me and my friends.
Dan: Well you look okay…
BEN ripped his SHIRT off, pointing to the bullet wound and blood that was all over on his chest.
Ben: Does that look fine?
TARA and MANDY walked in, very concerned.
Tara: What in the hell happened?
Ben: I have a bullet in me, I need you to get it out.
Tara: Sure, no problem. Will you tell me what’s happening?
Ben: A change…we’re not letting the evil come to us…we’re coming to the evil.
OUTSIDE – AMBULENCE
RIVER laid on a stretcher, being treated, blinking…
HIS heart monitor was steady, but then started to decrease.
Paramedic: I think we’re loosing him! Step on it!
His HEART MONITOR started to drop, until it FLATLINED.
Paramedic: We’re loosing him! Damn it!
RIVER’S FACE showed no expression.

DEAN MARTIN’S “ON AN EVENING IN ROMA” PLAYS –
CHARGER CITY 2002
FANCY RESTAURANT
RIVER sits with MICHELLE, JOEY, STEPHANIE and some more of JOEY’S FRIENDS and DATES. They’re dressed quite fancy.
Stephanie: River, what’s your date’s name?
River: Oh, this is Michelle.
Stephanie: Oh. I’ve never seen her at the high school.
River: She’s not from around here.
Stephanie: Well, Michelle, you’re hair looks beautiful.
Michelle: Oh, well thank you. After 150 years, these hair styles just keep changing.
STEPHANIE, and the rest of the TABLE, aside JOEY and RIVER looked shocked. RIVER tried to pick up…
River: She’s studying hair care. She’s going to be a beautician.
Michelle: I am?
RIVER kicked her.
Michelle: I am. It’s a lovely field.
Joey: So, River. That was an amazing game last night. You scored seven touchdowns! Unbelievable!
Jared: Yeah man, how in the world did you do it?
River: Hard work and dedication?
Everybody laughed.
It’s obvious that River is very uncomfortable in this situation. He’s supposed to be going to Homecoming with Shane and Marty.
A WAITOR walked out of the KITCHEN, heading towards RIVER’S TABLE, but was PUNCHED to the ground.
FALCON dragged the WAITOR to the bathroom.
BATHROOM
Falcon: Why in the hell do I have to do the dirty work?
Rick: Hey. You didn’t dress as a girl to attract a vampire.
FALCON looked at RICK.
Falcon: You did that?
Rick: Shut up.
RICK looked in the mirror.
Rick: Wow, you really have no reflection.
Falcon: Rick, you’re a demon hunter, right?
Rick: Researcher really.
Falcon: Would you freaking learn to research Vampires and their lack of reflection please.
Rick: Sorry.
FALCON pulled the clothes off of the WAITOR and put them on.
Falcon: How do I look?
Rick Your tie isn’t straight.
FALCON looked in the mirror.
Rick: Gah! Gotcha!!
RICK started laughing.
FALCON walked out of the BATHROOM and headed towards RIVER’S TABLE
Falcon: Can I start you out with anything to drink?
RIVER looked up from his MENU, recognizing the voice.
FALCON started winking at RIVER.
RIVER started to blush, but his embarrassment soon turned to anger.
Falcon: Right, well I’ll just give you kids a few more minutes…Just holler if you want anything, big stuff.
FALCON winked at RIVER.
Jared: Dude…I think the waiter like wants sex with River or something.
Joey: Maybe…maybe, you should go kick his ass and see what he really wanted.
River: That sounds like a great idea.
RIVER followed after FALCON and pulled him out to the front of the restaurant.
JOEY’S TABLE could see the TWO from the window.
River: What in the HELL are you doing?
Falcon: Um, Ben’s in trouble, and we need the whole team.
River: What?! Can’t I just have one night with my girlfriend?
Falcon: You’re dating her?!
River: Yes. You missed your chance, pal.
Falcon: Prick.
RIVER punched FALCON, and FALCON flew out of view of the WINDOW.
JOEY’S TABLE started to laugh, in a shocking way.
ANYA, RIVER, JOEY and MARTY appeared.
River: I remember this.
Joey: Yeah, me too. This is the night you skipped the dance to save Ben.
Marty: And me and Shane.
River: Yeah. I kind of wish I hadn’t at some time, but it was my calling. I had to protect my brother.
Marty: You did what you needed to do.
Anya: Which is why you’re gone.
ANYA snapped her fingers and RIVER disappeared.
JOEY and MARTY looked at ANYA.
Anya: 2 down, 2 to go. Only thing is…one of you already died and the fates don’t look to highly on that unless you’re meant to have a higher purpose. As for you Joey…well, have you ever done anything nice for anyone?
The TWO boys swallowed hard.
A SIREN breaks the SCENE into the
AMBULENCE
The PARAMEDIC looks at his watch.
Five minutes have passed since RIVER flat lined.
Paramedic: We lost one.
RIVER SAT UP just as his HEART MONITOR picked up.
BEN’S HOUSE
TARA’S EYES were black, as she was thinking –
AMBULANCE
The BULLET flew out of RIVER, and the WOUND patched itself.
The PARAMEDIC watched in AWE.
RIVER looked at the PARAMEDIC.
River: Where’s my brother?
Paramedic: Which one?
RIVER grabbed the PARAMEDIC by his SHIRT COLLAR.
Paramedic: Oh…that one…He’s at your house…
River: Stop this ambulance.
Paramedic: I can’t.
BEN’S HOUSE
TARA’S EYES still black, she threw her fist down
AMBULANCE
THE DRIVER slammed on the BRAKES.
TARA’S VOICE filled the AMBULANCE
Tara: Get here now. Mandy’s already at the Hospital. She’ll take care of them.
RIVER kicked open the DOOR and RAN at top speed down the STREET.
As he was RUNNING he was stopped by …
LAYNE HUNT.
Layne: What’s the hurry?

ACT 3
HOSPITAL – EMERGENCY ROOM
MANDY walked down the hallway and ran right into JOEY AND MARTY’S BODIES.
Mandy: Leave.
The PARAMEDICS looked at her.
Paramedic: Get out of the way lady.
Mandy: Everyone thinks only she can do it…
MANDY’S EYES went jet black, the magic flowed through her body, turning her beautiful blonde hair BLACK.
MANDY stood her ground as she made the HOSPITAL WALLS shake
Mandy: Leave.
The PARAMEDICS all turned around.
MANDY stood between the two boys and raised the bullets from their bodies and their wounds patched.
THE BOYS were still motionless.
MANDY looked confused…and then panicked.
SIDEWALK, near BEN’S HOUSE
RIVER stood there with LAYNE.
River: I’m so glad to see you.
Layne: You are?
River: You’re my watcher and I haven’t seen you for a while.
Layne: What’s with the blood?
River: Some guy shot me and Ben and my friends.
TARA’S voice filled RIVER’S HEAD
Tara: I know you were just shot and all, but you need to get back home.
River: I’m with Layne.
BEN’S HOUSE
Tara: Ben, go. You’re brother has him. I can feel his plans…he’s bringing Bob back from 1803.
Ben: I killed him.
Tara: Apparently not enough.
Dan: I’ll go with you.
BEN and DAN left the house, BEN was faster than DAN.
Dan: You go ahead, I’ll catch up.
SIDEWALK
River: Let’s get back to my house, Ben’s looking for the guy who did this.
Layne: Does he know?
River: I don’t think so.
LAYNE was knocked to the ground by a FLYING KICK.
BEN stood before his brother.
River: What the hell are you doing?! Ben, that’s my watcher!
BEN pulled the GUN from LAYNE’S coat.
Ben: Look familiar?
RIVER’S JAW dropped.
River: It can’t be!
Ben: It is…now run home and get with the others…if he succeeds, I’ll need you.
River: No. I want to stay…that bastard shot me first.
Ben: River, go home!
River: Make me!
BEN threw a punch at RIVER, but RIVER blocked it, throwing a PUNCH of his own, to which BEN blocked. Both of the BOYS were now holding each other’s hands. Without thinking BEN head-butted RIVER, sending him down.
DAN finally caught up.
DAN picked RIVER up from the ground.
Ben: Get him out of here.
Dan: What about you?
Ben: I’ll be fine.
DAN dragged RIVER back towards the house with him.
LAYNE got up from the ground.
Ben: So how long have you been planning this?
Layne: Ever since I took that job at the High School.
Ben: I can’t believe I trusted you.
Layne: You never trusted me, Summers. It was your brother who did that. You shut me out because you didn’t want him to fulfill his destiny.
BEN looked at LAYNE.
Ben: He’s not meant for this life. I am.
Layne: And you’re hiding from who you are.
Ben: …I’m the Slayer.
LAYNE started to run towards BEN, ready to ATTACK
THE MAGIC BOX
SHANE threw an ENERGY BALL through the door to bust it open.
He walked in and summoned all the DARK MAGIC books.
WILLOW ROSENBERG’S VOICE FILLED INSIDE HIS HEAD
Willow: I understand why you’re doing this…but I’ve been there. Once you do it, there is no turning back. You have to be responsible for your actions.
Shane [coldly]: I am.
SHANE rammed his HANDS THROUGH THE BOOKS, and the TEXT ABSORBED into his body…he was filling himself up with all of the DARK ARTS books.
SHANE’S EYES were totally BLACK, HIS HAIR and EYEBROWS went BLACK.
SHANE walked out of the MAGIC BOX and headed towards DOWNTOWN.
HOSPITAL
MANDY looked at the TWO BODIES, still motionless
MANDY started to CHANT in LATIN.
WHITE ROOM
JOEY, MARTY and ANYA stood looking around. A ONIPOTENT VOICE filled the air.
Voice: Joey Russo…Marty Burns. Your lives have been put into question by a witch. I have no other choice than to send you forward.
JOEY looked up.
Joey: It wasn’t our fault! We were robbed!
Voice: You weren’t robbed of anything. The Witch is the one who took it away.
JOEY and MARTY started to fade in and out, like ghosts.
HOSPITAL
SHANE walked in and looked at MANDY.
Mandy: What did you do?
Shane: Get out of my way.
Mandy: Shane, no. What did you do?
SHANE conjured up an energy ball and threw it at MANDY, sending her flying backwards.
SHANE pressed his hands on EACH of the bodies –
Shane: Bring them back!
HIS HANDS started to glow –
WHITE ROOM
MARTY and JOEY vanished from sight.
HOSPITAL
JOEY and MARTY started to open their eyes. They were back, and alive!
JOEY sat up and looked to see SHANE, but he was all blackened with the dark magics.
Joey: Shane?
Shane: I have to go, I have to stop it.
SHANE started to walk away. JOEY and MARTY got up and started to run after him, but SHANE threw his arm back and a JOLT of energy froze and stunned MARTY and JOEY.
JOEY saw MANDY out cold on the ground but couldn’t move.
CITY HALL – MAYOR’S OFFICE
SHANE stood in the middle of a PENTAGRAM, chanting.
All of a sudden a flash of light dropped a BODY.
MAYOR BOB KLINE laid on the ground.
Shane: You are behind this all. You will die.
SHANE went to pick up BOB, but BOB grabbed SHANE by the neck.
Bob: Thanks for bringing me back…I was having more problems on the other side. Oh, were you going to kill me? Because I don’t think you can.
Voice: Hey!
BOB released SHANE and turned around and as he did he was met with a fist. BOB flew threw the window of his office and landed on the outside.
FALCON pulled SHANE up.
Falcon: I always hated politicians.
