Slayer - 5x08 - Dad

CHARGER CITY GRAVEYARD
BEN SUMMERS stares at the picture the OLD MAN gave him.
Old Man: I am your father. That’s me, my wife Joan, my oldest son, you, Ben, and his younger brother River.
Ben: If you’re really my dad, what’s your name?
Old Man: Devin.
Ben: Anyone could’ve figured that…where have you been?
Devin: I’ve been off fighting The Host. After a small accident, I was separated from your mother and found myself in a place I can’t even describe. It must have been another dimension…but there were men, just like Matt McGuire. Very strong beings that were searching for a mystic red crystal.
Ben: They were successful. Or I should say The Host was.
Devin: No doubt. He seemed much stronger now.
Ben: Why are you here? And why now?
Devin: I received word that Joan had passed.
BEN starred blankly.
Ben: ...Cancer…
Devin: And I knew that your Aunt Jenny would not be helpful at all. So I knew I had to find my way back to my boys and protect them.
Ben: But we don’t need protection. We’ve grown up. I’ve grown up and taken care of River.
Devin: I know. I know.
Ben: This changes so many things now.
Devin: Like what?
Ben: I don’t know yet.
BEN looked at HIS FATHER.
TEARS streaked down his FATHER’S FACE.
BEN embraced his FATHER in a very deep hug…after many years, BEN and DEVIN SUMMERS were finally reunited.
Devin: Oh son. I have missed you so much. I love you.
Ben: I love you too… … … dad.
END OF TEASER
BLACK OUT TO OPENING CREDITS
A Zoom in of Charger City at night. “SLAYER” appears in red text. Scenes of BEN, RIVER and PARA all armed with stakes, facing down some vampires.
BEN dives through a window and pulls out a crossbow with a flaming arrow on the end. He releases the trigger and hits a VAMPIRE which explodes into dust. [Starring Ben] BEN and RIVER fight back-to-back against hordes of vampires.
BRAD is thrown forward by an explosion.
PARA throws a blue glowing orb at a DEMON. She dances with BEN at a NIGHTCLUB. PARA and DAC face each other down. [Para girl] PARA glares in rage at BEN.
SHANE and MARTY begin to whisper a chant.
RIVER walks into his high school, greeted by SHANE and MARTY. RIVER punches DAC in the face, knocking him backwards. [Jedi A. Malcolm] VAMPIRES surround RIVER, he spins around with a sword, decapitating them all as they turn to dust.
RIVER dives at some UberVamps in rage.
TARA looks through her books of spells. TARA kisses MANDY on the lips. [JP3 Girl] TARA’S body splits in too DARK MAGIC and LIGHT MAGIC. Tara fires an electric blue beam at a DEMON.
BOB KLINE laughs uncontrollably.
RYAN is held at gunpoint. RYAN spars with BEN. [Dark Hunter] RYAN’S hands glow and they produce lightning. RYAN throws a DEMON onto a pike.
FALCON pulls JOEY up from the GROUND, as a HUGE SNAKE whips by. FALCON spin kicks at THE HOST and follows through with a punch [Labyrinth]
MANDY’S EYES turned BLACK as she produced FIRE FROM HER HANDS. MANDY runs in a GRAVEYARD, carrying a sword, slicing at VAMPIRES. [Mandee] MANDY and TARA hug.
THE HOST and BEN battle on top of a building, exchanging many punches. BOB KLINE and THE HOST morph into other people. [And The Host] THE HOST and MAJESTIC engage in a sword fight.
BEN and RIVER walk the streets of CHARGER CITY with their BLACK coats flapping in the wind as if they were capes. On the screen - [Series Created by Ben Smythe]
ACT 1
THE ELITE WATCHER’S COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS – MORNING
BEN sat across from DAN in his new office.
Dan: And you said he just came out of nowhere?
Ben: Pretty much. He came to the magic box, but I buzzed by him with Para before lunch and then he turned up in the graveyard and offered me this weapon that weakened The Host.
[Special Guest Star The Host]
[Special Guest Star Bob as Mayor Bob Kline]
Dan: Really?
Ben: Yeah, he said it was a weapon designed for those like me.
Dan: What was it?
Ben: It was a scythe.
DAN looked at BEN very seriously. DAN stood up from his desk and pulled a book from his book shelf.
Dan: Reveal.
THE BOOK flew open revealing a picture of TWO IDENTICAL SCYTHES – one with a RED and SILVER blade, the other with a BLUE and SILVER blade.
Dan: The Scythe of the Slayer. The center of a Slayer’s power, the essence in itself for the Slayer.
Ben: Well why are there two?
Dan: One is designed for the Vampire Slayer, whereas the other is designed for the Flooder Slayer.
Ben: But we haven’t dealt with Flooders since…
Dan: It’s been a long time, but they still lurk. Vampire’s are what you face now.
Ben: So how do I get this thing back?
Dan: It says that ‘The Slayer will be forced upon a quest by himself. Just himself and his skills are all he will have in order to find the Scythe.’
BEN looked at DAN.
[Special Guest Star Dac as General Dac Armstrong]

Ben: Well this sucks.
Dan: What sucks?
Ben: We find a weapon that can do some damage on The Host and now we can’t even have it?! Thanks a lot Powers That Be!
Dan: It’s not so much them, Ben. It’s prophecy. Some things must work in natural order. We can’t control the universe.
Ben: Yeah…I know. But this is so weird. My father is alive and living with us, a weapon forged for the Slayer appears...check for signs of an apocalypse.
BEN stood up and headed towards the DOOR.
Dan: Off so soon?
Ben: Well, my Dad is at my house. I haven’t seen him…since I can barely remember. I want to spend as much time as possible with him.
BEN started to walk out, but was STOPPED by DAN again.
Dan: Tucker arrived yesterday from England. He cleaned out Brad’s apartment. He left this for you.
DAN handed BEN a small JEWELRY BOX. BEN opened it up and a SILVER CROSS NECKLACE shown to BEN – but in the CENTER of the CROSS was a GREEN CRYSTAL CUT DESIGN of the “SUPERMAN” emblem.
Dan: What is with the Superman?
Ben: Something from patrolling. “You ar-[AS BEN started to say the quote, BRAD’S VOICE filled in]en’t Superman, you know?”
A PAUSE.
Ben: Brad was a good man.
BEN put the NECKLACE on.
RYAN HAWKINS APPARTMENT
[Guest Starring PunkNerd as Joey Russo]
RYAN, TARA, MANDY and JOEY sat at the DINING ROOM TABLE.
Tara: So Ben’s been with him all night?
Ryan: That’s what Para told me. She said she had to wake up early and work out, but Ben went to the Council about some new weapon he found.
Mandy: Oh yeah, that’s the weapon that can weaken The Host?
Ryan: How did you know?
Mandy: River made mention of it this morning.
Ryan: When did you talk to River?
Joey: She dropped us off at Football practice.
Ryan: Why are you here and he’s not?
Joey: He’s got a date.
Ryan: Is this a real date or is this another one of Shane’s out of body – out of mind deals?
Joey: Pretty sure he was meeting Michelle for lunch.
[Yvonne as Michelle]
[Majestic1 as Majestic]
Ryan: Michelle? As in I’ve got fangs and I feed off humans Michelle?
Joey: I think she prefers the term “Vampire.”
Ryan: What is it with the Summers men and they’re obsession to vampires?
Joey: They are Slayers…
Ryan: Look, we’ve got to band together and help Ben. I mean, let him have time off and be with his dad.
Tara: Agreed.
[Dan as Dan Finkelstein]
[And introducing MikeyMike and WetWilly as themselves]
MAYOR BOB KLINE’S OFFICE
BOB KLINE sat facing two seated FIGURES across from him.
Bob: I hired you both because you’re both notorious for causing pain and destruction…well aim your pain and destruction toward The Slayer now. Nothing like having two demons working for you.
BOB turns and looks at THE HOST. MATT MCGUIRE is wearing a bandage on his FOREHEAD from his previous encounter with BEN.
[Episode written and directed by Ben Smythe]
Bob: Now, you two will find this weapon that is designed for The Slayer and you will bring it back to me. Kill whoever gets in your way.
BOB stood up and walked around, placing his hands on the backs of his TWO NEW members…
MIKEYMIKE and WETWILLY stood up, looking at each other, then to BOB.
Bob: Remember…if you fail me…I’ll kill you and eat you, as well.
MIKEYMIKE and WETWILL swallowed hard.
Bob: Now get out of here.
BOB looked at MIKEYMIKE and WETWILLY as they left. MATT MCGURE came next to BOB.
Host: Mayor, with all due respect…The Slayer will kill them in less than three seconds...and I mean for the both of them.
Bob: Relax my cycloptic colleague.
BOB looked at the BANDAGE very closed to THE HOST’S eye.
Bob: We will soon have The Slayer and his mystic weapon. In the meantime, get ready. It’s time to bring Dac back into the equation.
THE ELITE WATCHER’S COUNCIL BASEMENT – CELLS
DAC faced across from a VAMPIRE in a CELL. DAC took his mug and ran it across the bars of his CELL.
Dac: Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE SUMMERS HOUSEHOLD – LATE AFTERNOON
THE SOUND of an ELECTRIC SHAVER is heard from the BATHROOM. RIVER and BEN sit in the LIVING ROOM patiently, looking at each other.
River: Isn’t this neat?
Ben: Exciting! I can’t believe its happening. I mean, it feels like something of a dream.
River: Do you think its fate that he’s here with us right now?
Ben: You mean like right now with all that’s going on?
River: Yeah, this impending war.
Ben: How did you know about that?
River: We were doing a little research last night.
Ben: Who is “we?”
River: Shane, Marty, Joey and Michelle.
Ben: Michelle is helping you now?
River: Yeah…I guess so.
Ben: That’s fine I guess. Has she mentioned where Vader went to?
River: Actually, yeah. She said he had to go see a Doctor about you.
Ben: A doctor?
River: Yeah. I didn’t get it.
Ben: I don’t get it either.
PARA walked in from the KITCHEN carrying a TRAY of drinks.
Para: Don’t get what?
Ben: Vader’s sudden disappearance.
Para: I wouldn’t worry about it. Vader’s taken care of himself many times without our help.
Ben: This is true.
BEN pulled PARA down to him on the couch. PARA screamed very girl-like, but in a joking manner. BEN and PARA started to make out. BEN pulled away for a second starring at her.
Ben: Have I told you that I love you?
Para: Remember the time you sang it to me?
Ben: I try not to.
Para: Aw. Come on, it was sweet.
Ben: Sure.
BEN and PARA started kissing again.
RIVER starred.
River: God, get a room!
BEN and PARA pulled away looking at RIVER. The COLOR of the ROOM changed – and the surroundings were different – this is the SUMMERS HOUSE in DANSVILLE…… RIVER is twelve years old – and the BLACK & BLUE HAIRED, and younger BEN sits on the COUCH with a YOUNGER PARA.
JOAN looks up at RIVER.
Joan: Now River…they were down here first.
River: But mom!
Devin: Don’t but your mother!
BEN and RIVER both jumped out of their seats, looking at DEVIN. The younger bodies morphed into the OLDER BODIES.
Ben & River: Who are you?
FLASH OF LIGHT
BEN shakes his head and looks at PARA again, then looks at RIVER.
Ben: Did we all…?
River: …just have the worst mind trips you could have from not taking acid? Yes.
Para: Well put. I’m glad that education is paying off.
River: Thank you.
Ben: Does that mean he’s not our dad??
River: We didn’t know him then, Ben.
DEVIN started walking down the stairs, very clean and fine dressed.
Devin: Hey kids, ready for dinner?
OUTSIDE of the MAYOR’S OFFICE – LATE NIGHT
RYAN, TARA, MAJESTIC, MANDY, FALCON and JOEY sneak behind BUSHES dressed in all black.
Ryan: Now remember the plan?
Tara: Yes.
Ryan: Majestic, are you feeling okay?
Majestic: As good as I could be. I don’t feel totally drained.
Ryan: The Host will be there guarding Bob, so I need you and Falcon to take him out while Joey and I charge at The Mayor. Tara and Mandy – create a barrier around us.
TARA looked at MANDY, then at RYAN.
Tara: Don’t you think Ben will get ticked off?
Ryan: Quite possibly so.
Tara: As long as you know what you’re signing up for.
TARA and MANDY stood up and started to CHANT. A few seconds later a MAGICAL BARRIER surrounded all of them.
The GANG climbed up the side and busted into THE MAYORS office.
THE HOST was startled and threw THE MAYOR behind his desk. FALCON and MAJESTIC lead on the TWO vs. ONE ATTACK, totally taking care of THE HOST.
RYAN and JOEY climbed in, followed by MANDY AND TARA.
BOB KLINE got up from his DESK.
Bob: Ryan Hawkins…here with your stolen Slayer strength again?
Ryan: I guess you could say that.
BOB got out from behind his DESK. He starred at RYAN.
RYAN punched BOB in the face. The punch barely phased BOB.
Bob: I thought that would’ve hurt more.
JOEY swung his FISTS at THE MAYOR – sending him flying backwards.
RYAN looked at JOEY and nodded.
JOEY dived over the desk and LANDED on top of THE MAYOR. He started beating him senseless.
It’s now apparent that JOEY was imbued with MAJESTIC’S POWER.
BOB took the beating, but in a rage, his eyes turned WHITE and he punched JOEY off of him. JOEY flew through the room and LANDED onto the HOST – sending them both through the MAYOR’S OFFICE WALL. JOEY and THE HOST were both knocked out.
BOB and his WHITE EYES focused on RYAN HAWKINS.
Bob: You are nothing but a replacement. You’re not important to the story.
Ryan: What story?
Bob: The Story of the Slayer…don’t you understand anything??
BOB punched RYAN and RYAN flew into a CABINET that held many mystical and magical items and weapons.
RYAN was dazed.
BOB looked at MANDY and TARA.
Bob: I can see through you…into your heart. I know what you are inside.
Tara: Stop it.
Bob: I can only imagine what power you truly have. You could very well be more powerful than me.
Tara: I am, so heed my warning when I tell you to stop, I mean it.
BOB opened his palm and MANDY flew to him like keys to a magnet.
Bob: Your lover has died once…what would happen if she died again?
BOB held a knife to MANDY’S THROAT. TARA starred in horror as she started to breathe heavy.
RYAN started to come to his senses. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed BEN’S HOUSE.
BEN’S HOUSE – SAME EVENING
BEN, PARA, RIVER, MICHELLE and DEVIN all sat in the living room playing a game of MONOPOLY.
THE PHONE started to ring.
BEN looked at RIVER.
Ben: Must be Friday…
BEN hesitated in getting up, but he answered the phone only to hear the sound of TARA screaming and BOB KLINE laughing.

ACT III
BEN’S HOUSE – SAME NIGHT
BEN opened his WEAPONS CHEST and grabbed a SWORD.
Ben: River, grab the crossbow, Para you get the battle axe.
Michelle: What about me?
Ben: You’ve got fangs. Use them.
BEN and PARA started to haste out.
Devin: She’s a vampire?! Why haven’t we staked her yet?
Michelle: With a soul, here.
Devin: That’s so lame. What are you trying to be like Angelus or something?
Michelle: Angelus has a soul?!
Devin: Forget that I mentioned it.
RIVER handed MICHELLE a DAGGER.
Michelle: Pointy and not made of wood…a vampire’s best friend, indeed!
DEVIN looked at RIVER.
Devin: Does he usually storm out of here like that?
River: Yes. Do you want to come?
Devin: Sadly, a Slayer is a Slayer.
River: A burden I’ll never feel.
Devin: Be honored.
DEVIN picked up a doubled-edged SWORD.
Devin: Neat.
DEVIN, MICHELLE and RIVER followed after BEN and PARA, whom were quite a few paces ahead of them.
MAYORS OFFICE
TARA fell to her hands and knees, moaning very heavily, still breathing hard.
FALCON looked around and saw he was the only one standing. He kept looking around the room.
Bob: So…a vampire with a soul. I could turn you back, you know.
Falcon: Really?
Bob: Think about it – the thrill of the kill, fresh blood off of a stray victim. Can’t you just taste it?
Falcon: That sound’s delightful. Don’t you know how to remove souls?
FALCON started to move slowly towards THE MAYOR.
Bob: Of course I know how to remove souls. None of them understand…that dimwit twin of mine never told anyone. She’s dead though.
FALCON looked intrigued.
Falcon: You had a twin sister?
Bob: She wasn’t the only one born a Slayer…she found the Flooder Slayer, see I was born with her and I shared her powers…only I’ve learned to develop them in better ways.
Falcon: Who was she?
Bob: Joan Brennan.
Falcon: Isn’t that?
Bob: Yes, Ben’s mother…I’m his uncle…but he is what stands in my way of ending this ridiculous Slayer line…The First, if all is according to plan has already rid the World of The Vampire Slayer.
FALCON looked at BOB
Falcon: Why is her last name Brennan and yours Kline?
Bob: She was too embarrassed of her Kline roots. Brennan was the last name of her best friend Sonya.
Falcon: Oh.
Bob: Perhaps you need to be on the side that won’t stake you through the heart. Perhaps you should be on my side…the side that will win.
FALCON starred at BOB
Falcon: I think you might be right. It is time to be on the right side . . .
BOB was now standing with his back to the broken into WINDOW.
BEN jumped in and attacked BOB from behind.
PARA followed in and pulled MANDY up. MANDY has not been attacked with the knife that was held against her throat, just knocked out.
RIVER and MICHELLE found JOEY and pulled him away from the still unconscious HOST.
DEVIN climbed into the room…to see BOB KLINE getting pummeled.
Devin: Ben! Get off of him!
Ben: Dad? Why?
Devin: I’ll explain later. Just leave.
BEN backed off.
Ben: Falcon, come on.
BOB stood up.
Bob: No, you see, Falcon has learned that he needs to pick a side.
FALCON nodded.
Bob: A neutered vampire…ha.
BEN was pushed along by PARA.
BOB pulled a GUN from his waist and aimed at BEN’S HEAD.
RYAN leapt up from the ground wielding a SWORD slicing off BOB’S HAND.
The GUN fired and FALCON ran in front of the bullet – BULLET TIME EFFECT (MATRIX STYLE)
The bullet flew into FALCON’S HEART…
REAL SPEED
FALCON fell onto the ground, motionless.
BOB writhed in pain.
RYAN ran to TARA and pulled her with him. TARA threw a few punches and kicks – but finally left with him.
FALCON stood up – being left alone with BOB and an unconscious HOST.
Falcon: Guns…don’t kill me.
FALCON started to walk away.
Falcon: As for sides…I’ve picked my side. I have a soul and I need it because he believes in me. I’ve fought him many times – tried to kill him myself, but I’ve grown to love him as a person.
FALCON spun around, and as he did his COAT flapped in the wind, he jumped out the WINDOW.
BLACK OUT WITH RED TEXT
Falcon [voice over]: A Slayer.
