Jurassic Park's dinosaurs were originally going to be realized using stop motion animation. When Spielberg saw what ILM could do with CGI, however, he changed his mind. (From: 't.rex')

Jurassic Park: Dawn of Extinction (Prologue)
    By AlanGrant5

    JURASSIC PARK IV

    Dawn of Extinction

    Prologue: The Grant Entries

    May 17, 2002 –
Chaos has erupted. Fires, crumbled bricks, and shattered glass decorate the city streets. I hear screams outside, but I fear to open the door... I fear what is on the other side of the door. I have gathered as many survivors as I possibly could, but they seem to be slowly dying off, leaving me to myself in this hell hole. I find that my only means for survival have been to keep writing in this journal because it is through my writings that I do not go insane. Why the hell aren’t they doing anything? What in God’s name is going on out there? For now I will wait for the sound I have so desperately longed for... the sound of sirens, the sound of some form of help coming to our rescue. It has been four days since I have seen the light of day, each day feeling like an eternity I have never fully believed in a God, but if there is one... God help us.

    May 19, 2002 –
There are no means of escape. Our group of eight have been reduced to seven, in an attempt to get out of this dismal place. They were waiting for us outside... if only we had some sort of weapon we could use, but even then there are way too many of those creatures lurking outside the building... waiting for us to make the wrong move. They were indeed smart... how could I have forgotten that? William Golding, an author of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, Lord of the Flies once said, “When put into an impossible situation, man’s true heart will be revealed.” The slightest annoyance one causes another, will have us reaching out for each others throat. Maybe it was all part of their plan... maybe they were waiting for us to kill each other so then they could feast on our long forgotten corpses. No, the animals were smart, but not that smart. We will plan another means of escape, but this time we will out smart them.

    June 2, 2002 –
I took a peak out the ventilation window today, as we each get our turns. I can see nothing but utter darkness. The streets have been darkened with ashes and I no longer hear the screams for help, that I used to just a few days before. All I can hear now are the chirps of the new city inhabitants. It would appear as if the tables have turned on us; now we’re the ones entering the realm of extinction... never thought I’d live to see the day. Damn you InGen, damn you.

    June 4, 2002 –
I can hear their retractable claws tapping on the roof top... taunting us, whispering to us that death is approaching. I will not let them win, I can’t. I stared the beast right in the eye today... it was thinking, planning a way for their infiltration into our base. I wasn’t about to let them... especially when I have gotten this far. Our escape tactic will commence tomorrow. Every now and then, I find myself praying to a God I never believed in... which scares even myself. How much longer would this last? How much longer until help arrives? It’s hard to remember how this all started... but I tremble to think of it.

    June 5, 2002 –
We managed to steel a radio today from the store across the street thanks to Billy. Many stations were nonexistent, but when we heard the voice of another human being, it was like music to our ears. Apparently we’re not the only one’s experiencing the same problem. There are reports all around the world of a prehistoric outbreak; China, Japan, Australia, and even our own Florida. There were other sightings in several other states of our country and no word of how this was going to be stopped. I couldn’t believe that people all around the world were experiencing the same horror we were. This has to stop.
