The dilophosaurus in JP was actually very small compared to the actual Dilophosaurs. The real ones were about 15-20 ft long and were pretty tall, too. (From: Irusha S.)

    Prologue: House on Mayberry Lane

Flashing lights lit the night sky, people coming out of their homes to see what all the comotion was about. FBI Agent Jack Thomas, leaned on a squad car staring at the two story house ahead of him, not wanting to see what was inside it. There had been a triple homicide and from what his partner, Jacob Shepherd, had described, he knew the sight would be a gruesome one. The neighborhood was lined with naked trees and a light drizzle came upon them. It was obvious the small town of Mayberry, Maine, had never experienced such a murder of this magnitude.

EMS trucks lined the street with dozens of FBI agents coming to and from the house. Jack sighed as he lift himself up from his previous position and headed for the peace-disturbed home. Flash lights could be seen through the bay windows, causing the house to be lit from the inside like a jacko’ lantern. Caution tape surrounded every entrance of the house, but Jack simply ducked beneath them. With his black trench coat barelly touching the peach colored carpet, Jack walked up the stairs in which the first two murders had occured, not wanting to see the second murder at least not at the moment. On the walls on either side of him were family photos. They looked like the perfect family. The mother was a beautiful blonde, reminded him of his fiancee, and made the situation all the more worse. The father looked like a serious man, but a family man nonetheless. In fact the father reminded him of Atticus Finch from an old movie titled To Kill a Mockingbird. And the girl was undoubtedly one of the most cuttest girls he’d ever layed eyes on. She was a blonde like her mother and her blue eyes sparkled, with a smile wide enough to put a smile on our own faces. Who the hell would murder a seven year old girl? he asked himself shaking his head. No human, that’s for damn sure.

At the top of the stairs was his partner Jacob Shepherd. Jacob stood about six foot one, short brown hair, and piercing green eyes. As Jack walked down the dismal hallway covered in white paint, Jacob nodded his head with a sickened expression on his face. With each step Jack took, the heavy copper smell of blood invaded his nostrils, causing him to wince slightly. Greeting him behind the corner of the room, was the sight of a mutilated Tina Winters. She lie in the corner, several stab wounds to the chest, and a cordless phone in her right hand. Her eyes were cracked open slightly and stared at Jack lifelessly. On the floor, several feet away from his wife, was Robert Winters. He too was stabbed, but had even more wounds than the woman had. Blood had soaked into the carpet and was spreading like a cancer.

Bending over the dead corpse, Jack asked, “I’m guessing no finger prints?”

“None. Been here for over forty minutes and we have absolutely nothing. We dusted the place from head to toe,” Jacob said knawing on a tooth pick.

Jack saw a dark purple stripe around Robert’s neck; it had been snapped. Most likely afterwards, but then again they weren’t dealing with a human, but rather a monster. The bedroom was a mess, with picture frames tossed onto the floor along with a shattered lamp and a flipped matress.

    “Time of death?”

    “Sometime between two and four.”

“Two and four? Who called it in?”

“The woman’s brother came to pick up the girl and take her on a camping trip with her cousin. After knocking continually, he used his key to get in and stumbled on this masterpiece.”

This was just an excerpt. The full prologue will be up soon.
