Trevorrow Rewriting JP4's Script
Some additional surprising details on the situation this afternoon from Variety. They seem to suggest the problem is just a too-tight production timeline, however, it has been complicated by the added detail that as part of Trevorrow's contract, he is "re-work[ing] the script with writing partner Derek Connolly" (Connolly worked with him on "Safety Not Guaranteed". The earlier script was by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who are best known for their work on "Rise of the Planet of the Apes"). Meanwhile, the studio began working on casting, and had "focused on" Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help") and David Oyelowo ("Jack Reacher"), who had been front-runners to join the production. It's unclear if re-casting will need to take place following the delay. UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter adds some more details, with word that Trevorrow's script was delivered to the studio from where he's been working on Hawaii "only" two days ago (shooting was to start 6/24). This caused "a new round of budgeting" to take place. Based on that, it was determined the release date could not be met.
