    Crimson Moon 3 script (Part 1)

    CRIMSON MOON 3

    Written by Jeff Long and Cody Hammen

    We don't fade in right away. In the darkness we hear
    a pack of wolves howl.


    FADE IN ON:

    EXT. LAKE - NIGHT

    We look out at the calm surface of a lake. There's a
    full moon in the sky and it reflects off the water.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE WOODS - NIGHT

    A tent has been set up in a clearing and a campfire
    is smoldering in front of it.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE TENT

    A young couple, early to mid 20s, are laying in the
    tent, making out.

    We hear the sound of a wolf howling in the woods and
    the couple stop making out, the girl, TERA, pulling
    away from the guy, PHILLIP.

    TERA
    Was that a wolf?

    PHILLIP
    Yeah.

    TERA
    You don't think it'll come around
    here, do you?

    PHILLIP
    Nah.

    Phillip leans in to kiss her again, but at the same
    time there's a rustling sound outside the tent and
    Tera turns her head away.

    TERA
    Phillip, I'm still feeling a little
    uneasy about being out here.

    PHILLIP
    Come on, don't tell me that old guy's
    ‘monster-in-the-woods’ talk is getting
    to you. He was crazy. And drunk, from
    the smell of it.

    TERA
    It's just that we're pretty close
    to that place he was talking about.


    PHILLIP
    We're halfway around the lake from
    it! We’re a…

    Phillip kisses her.

    PHILLIP
    ...long...

    Another kiss.

    PHILLIP
    ...long…way away.

    They kiss again and Tera starts to relax back into "the mood".

    PHILLIP
    There's nothing out in these woods but
    you, me and the harmless animals.

    TERA
    Alright. Just as long as you can keep
    my mind off all that other stuff, we
    should be fine.

    PHILLIP
    I can do that.

    Phillip sits up to take his shirt off.

    As soon as he gets the shirt off, a clawed hand comes
    ripping through the side of the tent and smashes through
    Phillip's head, going in the back and out the front.

    Tera screams as blood splashes across her face.

    The clawed hand withdraws from Phillip's head and his body
    slumps over. The hand is then pulled back through the
    rip in the tent.

    Tera rushes over to the tent flap and begins unzipping it.

    Two clawed hands reaches in through the rip in the
    side of the tent and rips the side of the tent open even
    more, revealing-

    Tera gets the tent flap unzipped.

    The hands reach for her, but it's too late. She's
    crawling out of the tent.


    EXT. THE TENT - NIGHT

    Tera crawls out of the tent, hurries to her feet and
    starts running into the woods.

    The creature, covered in darkness, stands up and watches her run. It begins to follow her, blood-dripping from one of its hands. It begins to shrink and change shapes.


    EXT. THE WOODS - NIGHT

    Tera runs through the woods, screaming, crying, falling,
    Getting back up, continuing to run.

    Elsewhere in the woods, the trees and bushes are rustling as something
    big and fast runs through them.


    EXT. A DIRT PATH - NIGHT

    Tera bursts out of the woods and onto a dirt path that
    runs through the middle of the woods. A few yards to
    her left is the car she and Phillip came in on,
    pulled off the side of the road.

    She hurries over to the car, going to the driver's
    door.

    She stops at the door, realizing something-

    TERA
    Oh, God. The keys...


    INT. THE TENT

    The keys are attached to a belt loop on the jeans
    worn by Phillip's dead body.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE DIRT PATH - NIGHT

    Tera lays her head on the roof of the car, sobbing.

    The leaves on the low-hanging limb of a nearby tree
    shake.

    Tera looks up at the tree.

    TERA'S P.O.V. - We can't see anything in the woods.

    A wolf howls nearby.

    Tera turns around, leaning her back against the car,
    trying to locate where the howl came from.

    Suddenly a large dark shape enters the frame from the
    left side, slamming into Tera, knocking her down.

    CUT TO BLACK.

    The main credits play, in the same way as the main
    credits of PULP FICTION played. As they do, "Werewolves
    Of London" by Warren Zevon plays.

    Once the credits end, we:


    FADE BACK IN ON:

    EXT. A ROAD - DAY

    Five motorcycles roar by, being driven by five large,
    menacing-looking men. Women ride on the backs of the
    three of the motorcycles.

    We turn to watch the cycles roar down the road, past
    a sign that reads: WELCOME TO CLEAR LAKE

    As we watch the bikers go we notice that on the backs
    of all of their jackets is a picture of a wolf with
    bloody fangs.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. A BLACK CAMARO - DAY

    It's driving down the same road.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE CAMARO

    Driving is LANCE, a jock-type looking guy. Riding
    shotgun is a redhead called GINGER.
    In the back seat is a guy with his hair dyed green
    wearing a Dawn of the Dead T-shirt, C.J., his brother
    TRIPS and Trips's girlfriend JEZZY. They're all in the
    19-22 age range.

    C.J.
    I'm going to rub it in Dusty's
    face every time I see him, making
    fun of him for not being able to
    come on this trip.

    TRIPS
    Don't you think the pain of not
    being able to come is bad enough
    for him, you sadist?

    C.J.
    No. There's always a way.

    JEZZY
    It was miss the trip or have to
    drop out of school for him...

    C.J.
    So, drop out of school. I bet he
    ends up dropping out anyway. There's
    no way he'll go through with a
    career in psychology.

    LANCE
    You're right about that much.

    TRIPS
    Psychology's cool, though.

    GINGER
    Oh, shit...

    LANCE
    What?

    On the floor between Ginger's legs is a small cooler. The lid
    is open and she's looking into it.

    GINGER
    We're out of beer.

    LANCE
    Oh my God. We have to stop at the
    next store.

    From seemingly out of nowhere, the roar of motorcycles
    is suddenly upon them.

    The kids look through the back window to see five
    motorcycles speeding toward them, coming around a
    curve.

    The motorcycles are heading straight for the back of
    the car and seem to be speeding up.

    JEZZY
    What are they doing?

    The motorcycles turn away from the back of the car
    just in time, the first few going around both sides.

    Two of the motorcycles ride right in front of the car,
    one cycle rides right behind, one cycle rides on each
    side.

    Lance now has to drive within a sort of box.

    LANCE
    Jesus Christ.

    GINGER
    What is their problem?

    C.J.
    Just hit the brakes, Lance, that'll
    fuck 'em up.

    TRIPS
    No, don't. Just keep driving.

    The biker riding on Lance's side knocks on Lance's
    window.

    Lance looks at him and the biker smiles, waving.

    Lance waves back with his middle finger.

    The biker loses his smile and punches Lance's window,
    breaking it, showering Lance with glass.

    LANCE
    Shit!

    The motorcycles finally start pulling away from the
    car and driving on down the road.

    The kids watch the cycles speed away. The biker Lance
    flipped off returns the favor as he drives away.

    Lance leans his head out his broken window and yells-

    LANCE
    Assholes!

    GINGER
    Don't yell at them.

    LANCE
    Why not? They could've killed us.

    GINGER
    I don't want them to come back and
    finish the job.

    LANCE
    Pricks...

    C.J.
    Biker gangs still exist?


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE ROAD - DAY

    The motorcycles drive out of sight.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE WOODS - DAY

    Sitting in a deer stand, rifle slung over his lap,
    Wearing camouflage clothes, drinking a beer, is
    BRUCE, 38.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE WOODS - DAY

    In another area of the woods another hunter in
    camouflage clothes, CHRIS, 37, is walking with
    his rifle in hand.

    There's a rustling sound nearby and Chris stops,
    listening.

    Another rustling sound.

    Chris goes over to a tree, stands behind it and looks
    in the direction of the rustling.

    CHRIS'S P.O.V. - Through the leaves of a nearby tree,
    we see something moving on the other side.

    Chris raises his rifle.

    The "something" moves through the leaves.

    Chris is ready to fire as soon as whatever it is comes
    through the leaves and into plain sight.

    The "something" does this. It's another man in ripped camouflage, KEVIN MILLER, from Crimson Moon 2.

    Chris lowers his rifle.

    CHRIS
    Jesus, Miller. You're going to end
    up getting shot one of these days.

    Miller, oblivious to the fact he was just almost shot, walks up
    to Chris.

    MILLER
    How's it going?

    CHRIS
    Have you heard any shots fired?

    MILLER
    No.

    CHRIS
    There you go. It's going shit.

    MILLER
    Don't feel bad, I haven't gotten
    anything in the last couple years.

    CHRIS
    I'm not surprised. So where the hell have you been since last night? You just took off.

    MILLER
    I saw a deer and followed after it. Where's Bruce?

    CHRIS
    Probably still up in the stand.

    MILLER
    Ah...

    Miller takes a small drink from his canteen. Chris, who had been drinking a beer, finishes it, belches, and throws the empty can away.

    It hits the ground a couple yards away, at the edge of a small hill.
    It rolls down the hill and stops when it hits a big black boot.

    We look up to see that the boot is being worn by a man that has twin holsters with twin pistols in them, and a sword tied to his back. He looks to be in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He kneels down and looks
    at some tracks on the ground.

    He stands up and begins following the trail.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. A GAS STATION/CONVENIENCE STORE - DAY

    The Camaro pulls up to the pumps and stops. Lance and Ginger get
    out, followed by C.J., Trips and Jezzy.

    Lance goes to the pump, prepares to gas up the Camaro and every-
    one else walks toward the gas station.

    We cut to a shot looking around the corner of the gas station as
    Ginger, C.J., Trips and Jezzy open the station door and walk in.
    Once they disappear into the building, we look over-

    Parked beside the gas station on this side, near the back of the
    building, are the motorcycles. The bikers aren't around.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE GAS STATION/CONVENIENCE STORE

    Ginger and C.J. go to the beverage refrigerators in the back
    of the store while Trips and Jezzy head for the restrooms.

    One of the bikers is standing in the middle aisle of the
    convenience store section, watching the kids. They don't see
    him.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE GAS STATION - DAY

    Lance is pumping gas into the Camaro.

    There's a thump behind him and he looks back to see the biker
    he interacted with earlier leaning on the pump. We'll call the
    biker BIRD.

    BIRD
    Well fuck me runnin', look who it is.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE GAS STATION - THE LADIES ROOM

    The door opens and Jezzy enters. Two of the biker women are
    in the restroom, standing at the sink.

    Jezzy tries to ignore the bikers, hoping they'll ignore her
    as she goes to one of the stalls.

    When she goes to open the closed stall door, it swings open
    and the third biker woman comes out. Jezzy turns to go to another
    stall, but the other two women are blocking her way.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE MENS ROOM

    Trips is using one of the urinals when a stall door behind
    him opens and a biker comes out.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE CONVENIENCE STORE AREA

    C.J. is holding a case of beer as Ginger looks over the snack foods.
    She grabs a large bag of chips and turns to C.J. C.J. turns around
    so they can walk out of the aisle, and he runs right into-

    Not a biker, but a crazy looking old man.

    OLD MAN
    Stay out of the woods.

    C.J.
    What?

    OLD MAN
    Stay out of the woods, or you might
    not come out alive.

    C.J.
    OK, thanks for the advice.

    C.J. steps around the old man and walks away. Ginger tries to pass,
    but the old man grabs her by the arm.

    OLD MAN
    Death stalks the woods! Don't go into
    the woods!

    Ginger pulls her arm away from the old man and hurries after C.J.


    EXT. THE GAS STATION - DAY

    Lance and Bird are facing off.

    LANCE
    Hey. You know, I was sort of hoping
    we'd come across each other again.

    BIRD
    Yeah?

    LANCE
    Yeah. Since you broke my window, you
    can pay for it.

    BIRD
    Sure.

    LANCE
    Pool together some money with your
    buddies if you want. I guess you're
    all responsible in a way.

    BIRD
    No, I'll take care of it myself.

    Bird steps away from the pump, going to the back of the car, then
    walking around to the other side.

    BIRD
    You know what, better than paying for
    the window, I'll even fix the problem
    myself. You can't have a broken window
    and three that are still intact. It
    just doesn't match...

    Bird smashes the back window on the passenger side.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE GAS STATION - THE LADIES ROOM

    Jezzy is circled by the three biker women.

    JEZZY
    Look, I don't want any trouble.

    WOMAN #1
    Neither do we.

    JEZZY
    Could you let me pass then?

    WOMAN #2
    Maybe. Depends.

    JEZZY
    On what?

    WOMAN #3
    How nicely you can ask us.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE MENS ROOM

    Trips is finishing up at the urinal when the biker walks out of the
    men’s room, passing behind him. As the biker passes he pushes Trips
    forward into the urinal.

    TRIPS
    (disgusted)
    Fuck...


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE GAS STATION - DAY

    Bird shatters the front passenger side window as Lance rounds the
    back of the car, going after him.

    LANCE
    That's enough, asshole.

    BIRD
    No, I've got 3 windows to go.

    Bird jumps up on the car's hood and begins slamming a foot into the
    windshield.

    LANCE
    Son of a bitch!

    Lance grabs Bird's leg, Bird turns and kicks him in the face.


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE LADIES ROOM

    Scene's the same.

    JEZZY
    Will you please let me pass?

    WOMAN #1
    Will you please let me pass, ma'am.

    JEZZY
    Will you please let me pass, ma'am?

    WOMAN #2
    That's good.

    WOMAN #3
    That's real nice.

    WOMAN #1
    Not good enough yet.

    JEZZY
    Come on...


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE RESTROOMS

    Trips comes out of the bathroom, looking at his wet clothes.

    TRIPS
    Unbelievable.

    JEZZY
    (O.S.)
    Help!

    Trips looks at the ladies room door.

    TRIPS
    Jezzy?

    He leans against the door.

    TRIPS
    What's going on?


    CUT TO:

    INT. THE LADIES ROOM

    Woman #1 has shoved Jezzy against the nearest stall and has a hand
    over her mouth now.

    TRIPS
    (O.S.)
    Jezzy?

    WOMAN #1
    Aw, now you've ruined our fun.

    Woman #1 shoves Jezzy backwards and she falls, landing sitting on
    the toilet.

    WOMAN #1
    Maybe we can have more fun later.

    The women walk out of the restroom.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE RESTROOMS

    Trips steps back from the ladies room door as the three women come
    out.


    CUT TO:

    EXT. THE GAS STATION - DAY

    Lance gets to his feet, his mouth and nose bleeding.

    Bird has moved on to breaking the back driver's side window.

    Lance runs toward Bird.

    At the same time, Ginger and C.J. come out of the gas station
    carrying a couple bags of stuff. They see what's going on and C.J.
    puts his bag down so he can run to help Lance.

    Before C.J. can go, though, the other bikers burst out of the
    gas station and one of them grabs him in a bear hug from behind.
    Another does the same to Ginger.

    C.J.
    Hey! Let go of me!

    Lance reaches Bird as he smacks his hand down on the rear window,
    causing a spider web break.

    Lance punches Bird, with almost no effect.

    Bird punches Lance in the face and Lance falls to the ground hard.

    BIRD
    Let me finish.

    Bird hits the rear window again and it shatters.

    He then kicks Lance in the stomach as he walks away.

    BIRD
    Glad to help.

    The biker holding C.J. lets him go and he runs to Lance.

    C.J.
    Are you alright?

    LANCE
    Just dandy...

    Lance groans as C.J. helps him to his feet.

    LANCE
    That motherfucker...

    Lance gets his breath back and starts to go after Bird, who's
    walking toward the gas station. C.J. holds him back.

    C.J.
    Whoa. Just let it go.

    LANCE
    Just let it go? He broke all of my
    fucking windows!

    C.J.
    So we'll call the cops or something.

    LANCE
    I want to kick his ass.

    C.J.
    Lance, there's no way. You won't
    kick his ass any more than you
    already have, you'll just get hurt
    more.

    LANCE
    Shit...

    Lance realizes C.J.'s right.

    Ginger has been let go and comes running up to them.

    GINGER
    Lance, baby, are you alright?

    LANCE
    Do I look alright?

    Trips and Jezzy come walking up.

    TRIPS
    What the hell happened?

    C.J.
    Those asshole bikers.

    LANCE
    They guy who broke my window finished
    the job.

    JEZZY
    They attacked me in the restroom.

    C.J.
    Bastards.

    TRIPS
    We need to go to the police.

    LANCE
    Fuck the police, let's just get out
    of here.
