I think the only new movies I've seen this year so far are this, and The Lobster. Both are amazing. So 2016 is off to a good start for me

not a bad movie, not poorly made, but when stephen king says he was terrified I expect to leave a movie unable to sleep without a vallium. Instead I came out relaxed and ready to sleep feeling comfortable and calm. The opposite of how I wanted to feel.

The actual witch stuff is less interesting than how the other members of the family respond to the possibility of a witch, and, like The Thing, it knows how to keep the audience in a state of existential paranoia.
