Macy Talks JP3, Release Date Change?, Nublar/Sorna Debate Continues
Countingdown.com points us towards this interview with William H. Macy in the Australian magazine 'The Age', where the JP3 star comments about the upcoming film. "This is filmmaking at ... some sort of a pinnacle, when it comes to the technical stuff," Macy says. "The puppetry stuff we're doing is mindboggling." The article also gives this description of the plot: "In the movie, Macy and Tea Leoni play the parents of a teenage boy who gets stranded on Isla Nublar -- the dinosaur island -- in a freak parasailing accident. Along with Sam Neill, they set out to rescue him." Strangely, the film is said to have an "August release", though whether this means the release date has been moved is unknown (last we heard, the film isn't scheduled to be released in Australia until late July or early August). As for the continuing Sorna/Nublar debate, see my comment on the subject over on the message board.

Very Long JP3 Video Interview
Holy crapola! AICN poits out that there's an amazing RealVideo presentation (almost 45 minutes long, actually) at CanalPlus.fr, where the French-speaking host (don't worry, the stars speak English) talk to several of JP3's stars, revealing some juicy info. To start, Alessandro Nivola is interviewed, who gives some details about his charcter, Billy, who works alongside Dr. Grant at a Montana dig site that is about to be shut down because of a lack of funding. "I really look up to Sam [Neill], but I also have a kind of rivalry with him." Talking about the parasail scene: "I fly through this canyon on a parasail, and it gets sorta torn, and I get hooked up there, and I'm hanging there, and there are these predatory creatures who are threatning me.." Anyway, I'm in the middle of watching it myself -- I'll update tomorrow with all the good stuff.

JP3 Toy Dino Details
Some new information about what kinds of toy dinosaurs we'll see being produced for JP3 come July from The Irish Independent, who talked with a source at Universal about the upcoming toy line. "You'll be really surprised by this year's toyline," says the source, Jill Jones. "Each product has built-in Re-Ak A-Tak special effects, which means the dinosaurs will be able to react and attack each other with electronic sound effects and battle moves." In addition, the JP3 toy dinos will have different skin than most, feeling "soft and textural." In a bit of marketing hype, Jones adds that they have "a group of palaentologists working as consultants, [to] ensure that touching these toys is as close as you can get to touching the real thing." Finally, it looks like a major fast-food chain will once again have a JP3 tie-in: "details have already been secured," says Jones. For previous info about Hasbro's toy line, click here.
