New DVD Commercial With JP3 Set Footage
I didn't catch NBC's airing of JP last night, but according to 'Chase', during one commercial break the JP+TLW DVD commercial we've seen before was aired, with an additional bit about the upcoming webcast: "It showed Stan Winston [using] his hands for direction," Chase says, "and .. the biggest dinosaur hand I've ever seen. It was like seeing the Utahrator hand from the toys except .. 4 ft. long. It was medium brown [and] had three fingers with gigantic claws." [Update: Here's a shot of the claw, courtesy of JP Unleashed. Here's another from the commercial with Spielberg and what looks to be Jack Horner supervising on the set.]

    Plot Details from USA Today
The entertainment people at USA Today have no beefs about working the day after Thanksgiving, posting a pretty lenghty article about the status of the JP3 production, specifically talking about the film's new star: the spinosaurs: "We're all the supporting cast to the spinosaurus," says Alessandro Nivola, who plays a paleontologist in the film, according to the article. "I run through the jungle a lot and use every means possible to escape the clutches of the monster." Here's more: (Thanks 'Tcsr84')
"A denizen of Isla Sorna, the spinosaurus (spoilers! Highlight to read) crushes a plane on a search-and-rescue mission with a few strokes... William H. Macy and Téa Leoni co-star as the parents of the 12-year-old boy (Trevor Morgan) stranded on the island after a parasailing accident.

The big-budget action movie is a departure for Macy. "This is the biggest movie I've ever done, and I had trepidation doing the third of a franchise," he says. But then he saw some footage and was "astounded. It's going to be relentless. You're going to have to step outside to catch your breath."

Leoni, who has a fear of heights, had to be suspended from a plane about 18 feet off the ground. But she focused on the perks of the job. "I'm surrounded by a bunch of boys," Leoni says. "I'm having the most fun I've ever had."

Fun or not, she has issued an official disclaimer: "If this does not do well, it will be the dinosaur's fault. They can't pin this one on me."

    No Trailer
Well, reports are coming in that unfortunatly there is no JP3 trailer attached to Unbreakable, proving that once again, some people who work at movie theaters only know how to rip tickets. I apoligize if I got anyone's hopes up... The good news is that I now have connections with movie theater people, so when the JP3 trailer does appear, you'll hear about it here first. Have a Happy Turkey Day everyone. :) (Thanks 'JP3me' and 'GoldblumRules')

    Leoni Parachuting Off Universal Cliff?
An informant over at AICN reports today that according to a tour guide at Universal, the JP3 production will use the big cliff they've constructed and throw Tea Leoni's character off of it (or, probably, a stunt double) in a parachute for a scene to be filmed over the next few days. (Thanks 'Carter' and 'Savior')

    Trailer Tomorrow?
Still working on trying to confirm that tomorrow's release of Unbreakable will have the JP3 trailer. While my theater says they have it, I'm still a little skeptical.. if anyone wants to call their theater and ask, send me what they say. If I get anything from my sources, this story will be updated tonight.

    Buy the JP3 Poster
'Sgon2' noticed that RicksMovie.com is selling the JP3 poster for $18. The site doesn't give the size of the poster, but I think we can assume its the 27x40 version in theaters (story).

    JP on NBC
Steve wanted to remind everyone that NBC's annual Thanskgiving weekend showing of Jurassic Park will be this Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern. A little added twist this year is the website movies.nbci.com, where after the showing of the movie, you'll be asked some (presuably easy) questions about the film for a chance to win $100,000. Not bad at all...

    JP3 Trailer Before 'Unbreakable'?
This just in! According to 'MegaRaptor500' and 'DuoMaxwell', after 'The Grinch' yesterday they talked to theater owner, who told them that he had just gotten the JP3 trailer in, and that he would probably be playing it before Unbreakable (to be released next Wed.). I haven't heard anything about this from any other theater people I'm in contact with, but I will continue to investigate... Update: The guy at my local theater also said they received the trailer, but have not yet attached it to anything.. More as I get it..

    New Poster Sighted
'Seba' was the first to write in with news that he spotted the new JP3 poster (story) at his local theater (with "Summer 2001" at the bottom). Look for it at yours!

    Own a Real Dinosaur Skeleton
Leave it to FOX to think of a special like this: Called The Ultimate Auction, anyone with around $800,000 to a million bucks in spare change will be able to bid on the "only known skeleton of the exclusive omnivorous Pachycephalosaurus Wyomingenisis ('Pachy')." The auction itself will take place on Dec. 1st, with the special to air on the 7th at 8pm. (Thanks 'Paragirl').

DVD-ROM Not Required For JP3 "Hotlink"
Good news for those of us who don't have DVD-ROM drives.. According to a source at Universal Home Video, anyone will be able to access the live webchat through www.jurassicpark.com (scheduled for the first week in December) -- you will not be required to get to the event via the JP or TLW DVD-ROMs.

Delays Push Hawaii Filming to Feb.
We first heard it would be January, then December, now it looks like filming actually won't return to Hawaii until February or March, according to Bob from Hawaii Movie Tours. "Production people in Hawaii are being called and told that filming in LA is behind schedule," Bob says. Hopefully this isn't as bad as it sounds, and perhaps they will shoot some scenes in LA that they intended to shoot in Hawaii.

    News From Universal
Some new insider info from 'Scififann' -- According to him, the construction on the smaller-cliff/cat-walk in Stage 28 has been completed and is ready for filming. In addition, a large pterodactyl model has been moved into the stage, described as "tan or caramel colored similar to what is seen in the ending of TLW."

    Trailer Looks Doubtful
Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but according to a few people I talked to yesterday who are in the movie theater industry (including two projectionists), they have not yet received a JP3 trailer, and have not heard of one being attached to "The Grinch" tomorrow. One projectionist said that while his theater did receive the new JP3 posters, current plans are to attach the trailer of Universal's "The Mummy Returns" (release date: May 11, 2001) to Grinch. Since it's still early in the morning Thursday, it is possible the trailer may arrive later today, but that's wishful thinking at this point.

    Leoni Interview in EW
This week's Entertainment Weekly (the one with Glenn Close on the cover) features a short interview with JP3 star Téa Leoni. While most of the interview is spent talking about her upcoming "The Family Man", she does make a few comments about her dinosaur co-stars:
Leoni: I was thinking that I'd love to see a couple of these Jurassic park chase sequences [scored] to the Partridge Family's "I Woke Up in Love This Morning."..
EW: So it's an all-they-need-is-love kind of thing?
Leoni: Yeah! It's just a big misunderstanding. They woke up in love, and with their size and sexuality they have problems expressing it.
EW: Your executive producer Steven Spielberg will be fascinated to hear this.
Leoni: [Laughs] Look, these are my lines today [flips through script]. Well, umm, I don't have any.
      EW: None?
Leoni: Well, there's running and screaming. But no lines.
EW: So what do you actually see while you're screaming? Hand puppets?
Leoni: Occasionally a big hairy grip holding on to a something-asaur or a whatever-adon...
      ...
Leoni: I was really concerned about having blood over my face in front of [my baby] for Jurassic Park. Then we figured it out. We told her [these wounds] were fake "owies" and that they don't hurt. Then we gave her one and boom! she became a "fake-owie" addict.
      ...
EW: For your next film, it was reported that you might be working with Jonathan Demme..
Leoni: I'm not allowed to say. There's more secrecy around that then JP3. But I'll tell you one thing. There are no dinosaurs.
Well what did you expect, it's EW. (Pic courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Thanks to 'Digalot8'.)

    Plot Info: Stampede? Redesigned Raptors?
I missed this bit posted at Corona a few days ago.. According to a source at Universal (who is the same source who sent them the new JP3 teaser poster, so it's probably legit), the only new dinosaur we'll see in JP3, is the Spinosaurs, though "there is supposed to be a stampede scene so you might see some new secondary Dinos." The source also says that the Raptors have been "slightly redesigned", and as we know, Pteradons will play a "larger part" in the film.

    JP3 Teaser Trailer on Friday?
The big question everyone is asking this week is, "Will there be a JP3 trailer before 'The Grinch' on Friday?" The answer, unfortunatly, is still "I don't know." While I've heard that the new Final Fantasy trailer (the film scheduled to be released the week after JP3) will be attached to "Grinch", the info on JP3 is less reassuring. "They certainly have enough material now to make a good trailer," Bob from HMT says. According to Brandon, the movie theater manager in Nashville, he's heard that there will actually be two different teasers for JP3, though he hasn't received either of them yet. I will continue to investigate...

    About Macy's Role
'Gallimimus' noticed this blurb on the website of UK film mag Empire Online, which adds a little about William H. Macy's role in JP3. While the article is dated 7/21 (and thus a bit old), it says that Macy will play a "wealthy businessman who [this is the new part:] foolishly invests in a park full of, yes you guessed it, bad-tempered dinosaurs."

    New Dinosaur Named After Crichton
Besides countless best selling novels, Michael Crichton now has another claim to fame: "Crichton's ankylosaur", a dinosaur discovered by Chinese palentoligst Dong Zhiming, was named after everyone's favorite author yesterday. The dinosaur is a "small, armored plant-eating dinosaur that dates to the early Jurassic Period." "For a person like me, this is much better than an Academy Award," Crichton said.

    Universal Cliff News
Our source at Universal, 'Scififann', sends word that the large cliff on the backlot is no longer visible to people on the tram tour, since a big "black tarp" has been set up around the entire set, possibly in response to all the coverage of the cliff here on the Internet.

    Volcano?
Someone wrote into AICN with some new information to add to their report yesterday.. While they were taking the tram tour last week, the guide said that the large cliff-like structure being built at Universal is actually a "volcano". "Joe vs. the Volcano" meets JP? Weeeeird...

    New Poster
Corona received this image of a new JP3 teaser poster, which (according to the person who sent it in) should be going up around American movie theaters in time for Thanksgiving. Note the lack of a tag-line and "Summer 2001" at the bottom instead of "July 2001". Could this mean we'll see the JP3 teaser on the screen next week? (Thanks MovieHeadlines.net)
