JP4 Director Named
BREAKING! Per Deadline.com, Colin Trevorrow (pronounced "tre-VAR-o"), indie director of last year's romantic comedy Safety Not Guaranteed has been placed in charge of the latest JP movie. According to Deadline, the director, who made his last movie for almost nothing and which grossed $4 million, met with "the studio and filmmakers, [who] felt he was a good match for the material, having grown up a huge fan of the trilogy and part of a new generation of directors steeped in all things dinosaur." Frank Marshall, JP4's producer, said he's "thrilled" Trevorrow was signed, calling him a young director "who understands and respects the world that is Jurassic Park." Deadline added, "[The producers] felt he would preserve and protect the characters in the story they created." Safety Not Guaranteed, which has an impressive 91% on the Tomatometer, was billed as "from the producers of 'Little Miss Sunshine'", and given a 3 1/2 star rating from Roger Ebert, who called it "ambitious and touching", with "dialogue that's about something [and] characters who have depth and dimension." You can send your congratulations to Mr. Trevorrow (who is 36) via his Twitter.
