Strange coincidences: 'When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth', the banner inside the Visitors Center in JP, was a name of a sci-fi movie written by J.G. Ballard, who also wrote the novel that Spielberg's 'Empire of the Sun' is based upon. (From: 'Alexandra')

    Chapter 1: Pleisosaur Attack

The military helicopter went off into the sky leaving Isla Nublar behind. Grant looked over to Muldoon sitting with Lex and Tim. Muldoon leaned over toward Grant. "They want us out of here as fast as possible. They're going to blow this place sky high in a few hours."
"What about other survivors," Grant asked.
"They already took off in the other helicopter," Muldoon replied. "Harding, Malcolm, and some workmen."
    "What about Hammond," Grant asked.
Muldoon shook his head and looked at the two kids sitting beside him asleep. "Compies got him near his Bungalow."
Grant shook his head and then looked toward a military man that was walking toward him. "Excuss me sir, who is in charge," the man asked.
    "Nobody," Grant replied.
Suddenly the helicopter started shaking in all directions as the people tried to stay in their seats. Donald Gennaro got up and moved toward the cockpit to see what the trouble was. He looked up in the cockpit area to see that the piolits were dead almost as if they'd been mauled by something that wasn't even on the choper. Gennaro turned around in fear. "The pilots are dead!"
Grant, Muldoon, Ellie, and two military men got up and went toward Gennaro and the cockpit to see what he saw. Suddenly, the choper went crazy and started rushing toward the ocean below. Muldoon jumped up in the front of the choper and started trying to bring the helicopter back into control. However, his efforts were useless and the helicopter went crashing into the cold and dark pacific ocean.

Alan Grant stood slowly followed by everyone else. Muldoon shook the feeling out of him from the impact and looked ahead. Lex and Tim had woken and were now coming toward the other people. They had landed right side up on the water. Apparently the helicopter could float.
"What happened to the pilots," questioned Military General Snipes.
"Who knows," Ellie said shaking her head wondering what would happen next on this wonderful vacation that she had been invited on by John Hammond.
Donald Gennaro looked forward at something coming in their direction. It seemed to be a large dark object swimming in the water. "What the hell is that," he asked in a worried tone.
Everyone looked forward at the odd animal coming toward them. Then the head appeared from the water. Grant and Ellie looked at each other in shock.
"My god," Grant said. "That's a Pleisosaur!"
"Robert, try to get us out of here," Gennaro yelled.
Muldoon tried to work the controls moving the helicopter away from the animal.
"Lift it off the water," Lex yelled.
"I can't," Muldoon yelled. "This thing won't let me. Something's screwed up in the system."
The Pleisosaur came closer to the people rushing toward them at full speed with it's jaws wide ready to bit down on the choper. The two children screamed at the top of their lungs.
"There's no way to out run it," Grant said. "We have to return to Nublar. It's the only way!"
"We can't go back there," Gennaro yelled.
"It's the only choice that we have Mr. Gennaro," Ellie screamed. "Go Robert, go!"
Muldoon pulled the helicopter back toward Isla Nublar with the Pleisosaur now almost on them. The animal then took it's head back down under the water. They could hear the sounds being made by the animal from under them.
    "Brace for impact," Grant yelled.
Suddenly, the animal broke through the center of the helicopter breaking it in half with some of the people in one half while the others where in the other half, all were screaming to the heavens.
The animal looked around splashing everywhere trying to get to the people. General Snipes took out a handgun and started firing at the monster. Suddenly a large fin poped out of the water and knocked the general out of his half of the helicopter and into the water. The Pleisosaur went down on the man as he screamed and they both went down into the deep and dark pacific ocean. Muldoon, Grant, Gennaro, and Sargent Miller looked where the other half of the choper was where Ellie, Lex, and Tim were standing scared out of their minds.
"You're going to have to jump over," Grant yelled. "Come on, you can do it."
Ellie Sattler looked at the water not knowing what to do. She looked at the kids and realized that they should go first. She went over to Lex and picked her up. "It's going to be ok Lex," she said trying to calm her down. "Dr. Grant will catch you."
Ellie took her over to the edge of the piece of helicopter that they were in and slowly moved her over to the other piece. Grant lent out a hand and Lex took it. He pulled her over to the other side.
Tim was next as he neared the edge of the choper. He looked down into the water to see if he could see the monster coming back. He didn't so he continued on as he grabed Grant's hand and went over to join the others.
"Come on Ellie," Grant said smiling. "You're the last. You can do it."
Ellie moved toward the edge of the choper piece and started to the other side. She slowly went across looking in the water frequently to see if any danger was in the path. Grant grabbed her hand and pulled her over. She started hugging him and crying as she tried to get over this new development.
Muldoon got back in the pilots seat and started trying to get the remaining piece of the chopter to move away from the area.
"I didn't see any of those animals on the island," Gennaro said. "Was Hammond nuts to make those creatures and just let them loose in the ocean! What was his problem?"
"There is a huge underwater fenced section to this part of the ocean sense it's near the island," Muldoon said. "The animals have never broke loose."
"It was still stupid," Gennaro said.
"Don't worry Donald," Muldoon said. "We're almost back at the island where we won't have to worry about the Pleisosaurs."
"Yeah," Grant said turning around. "But we've got even worse problems waiting for us on that island."
