Chapter 9-Preparing for a Fight-Dan vs. Hack
Morph-E-Us was sitting on a chair at the game table in the jail room while smoking a Cuban cigar. He was playing a quick game of solitaire, waiting for his rotation on watching Dan and Julia in their cells. Morph-E-Us was whistling as he shuffled the deck of cards he was holding. As Morph-E-Us played his card game, Dan and Julia were talking about what they'd do if they'd make it out of the cells...alive.
Dan:When we get out of here, I'm going to take you and me on a vacation.
Julia:That's if we get out of here. I don't think they'll let us out of here still walking.
Dan:It's going to be all right. You've got nothing to worry about.
Julia:Promise?
Dan:Yes. I swear.
Julia smiles as she grabs Dan's hand and slightly squeezes it. Dan looks at her and rolls his fingers through her hair. Julia laughs silently and puts her index & middle fingers on her lips and presses them against Dan's. Dan smiles and does the same.
Then, the door bursts wide open. Morph-E-Us looks up and thinks its Hack, but it's actually Naps-Ter.
Naps-Ter:Hey, man.
Morph-E-Us:Sup?
Naps-Ter:I killed one of the members.
Dan moved his head so his left ear faced the direction in which Naps-Ter was talking. He could hear Morph-E-Us ask...
Morph-E-Us:Who?
Dan listens closely to Naps-Ter, trying to get every word he was saying.
Naps-Ter:That Seth Rex.
Morph-E-Us:Oh, I know him.
Naps-Ter:He died trying...HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
Julia looked at Dan in a worrying way, seeing that he was staring at the floor, sweat dripping from his head. She asked quickly about what he was thinking about.
Julia:What's the matter, baby?
Dan sighs heavily and takes a moment until he answers.
Dan:Hack is killing all of the members slowly. Seth Rex is already dead. So are ernie the velociraptor, RickArnold, and Lagosuchus. Next he'll go after...Evilgrinch.
Julia:Why? Why Evilgrinch?
Dan:Evilgrinch is the leader of the members. Hack knows that the weakness of the members without Evilgrinch is that they lose hope a lot, but when he's around...we can do anything to anybody.
Julia:Oh.
Then, the door was kicked open again, except this time, the door was knocked right off of its hinges. Only one being in the entire bunker could do that...Hack.
Dan:Oh, great...here he comes.
Hack started through the door with his usual bad-ass grin. He then walked over to Morph-E-Us and asked for the keys to the cells.
Hack:Keys...NOW!!!!
Morph-E-Us immediately grabs the keys from his pocket and hands them over to Hack. He looked at Julia with a piggish face. Julia started to sob when she saw Hack pull off that disgusting stunt. Hack jingles the keys in front of Julia's face and smiles. Julia ignores Hack's mocking stunts and looks at the wall.
Julia:Leave me alone.
Hack:Awww, I just want to lick you.....up and down.....HA HA HA!!!
Dan had enough of his taunting. He rose up from his cot and called to Hack.
Dan:Hey, asshole! Come here. Yeah, you.
Hack smirks as he walks towards Dan. Dan looks at the hacker leader with extreme fury. No fear could be seen in Dan's eyes as he glared at Hack, who was sitting down, waiting for Dan to talk to him.
Dan:Open up this monkey cage...and let me and you fight in your "arena". Let's see who's a real man.
Hack, Morph-E-Us, and Naps-Ter start laughing their heads off. None of them could believe that Dan had just challenged Hack to a fight. Hack even starts to pour out some tears due to his relentless laughing.
Hack:You really think you can beat me?
Dan:One more thing, don't use your powers. Let's head on over there and fight like men. Don't be a big chicken, Hack.
Hack:Ten minutes...you be ready.
Hack starts out the door, followed by Morph-E-Us and Naps-Ter. Dan sits back down on his cot and starts to come up with a plan. He sat there for his entire ten minutes of readiness...thinking.
Dan:Julia, if anything happens to me, I want you to stay calm and get out as soon as possible, ok?
Julia:Dan......I..........I will...I promise.
Julia couldn't believe what she had just said. She was saying to herself that if Dan was killed in the fight with Hack, she would forget about him and move on with her life. She tried to shake that thought out of her head, but it was no use. It just stuck to her for a while. Suddenly, Ka-Zaa enters, signaling Dan that he's free to come out for the big fight. Dan looks at Julia and smiles. Julia lets out tears as he starts to leave the jailroom.
Julia:Be safe, honey.
Dan:Don't worry. I've got this.
Julia watched as KaZaa and Dan left, leaving her all alone. Julia lies back down on her cot and closes her eyes, dreaming about a future her and Dan could have...if they survive.....
