    Chapter 10

A very strange twist has tangled up the mission to destroy Madblast tower. Post Grant's stress sent them into the Banjo-Tooie game instead of Madblast, and now they have landed in a world of the game, with fireballs being hurled at them by an unpleasant dragon...

"DUCK!" yelled Icebreaker, and all the men dived to the ground. The fireball flew over their heads and collided with a small slate building. They climbed to their feet. Icebreaker looked at them.
"You guys find cover," he ordered. "I'm going to get that dragon!"
"Ice, no, you'll be killed!" yelled AG4.
    "That's a risk I'm willing to take."
And with that, a glow of white encased Ice, and he flew up to a small cavern just below the crater, leaving the others behind.
"OK, you played the game, you can beat this freak."
And he walked into the cavern.
He emerged, looking over the lava side of Hailfire Peaks.
    "Ah, just like the game."
Then he climbed the ladder beside him, to the rim of the volcano. As he did, the archway through which he had come sealed: an iron-wrought gate slid up and blocked it. Only then did Ice realise he had no ice. The fire dragon was going to toast him without something horribly cold.
    "Oh, crap."
Well, there was no way back now, so he was going to have to fight the dragon without the ice.
As soon as his foot touched the rim of the volcano, a huge head on a long, thin, serpentine neck rose above the surface of the lava.
"Hey," it said in the same raspy voice that had yelled at the Gang when they had arrived. "I thought I was supposed to fight a bear in this game. Why are you here?"
"I'm a little busy, dragon, and you spat a fireball at us when we arrived. I don't want that to happen again."
"You little smartass. Well, I'm out, so I may as well start dinner on you!"
And the dragon rose it's red head, with orange spikes like a Metriacanthosaurus's bumps down it's back, and started spitting fireballs at Ice. Luckily, he had a trick the dragon hadn't counted on: Ice could fly!
He sped around the volcano until the poor lizard was dizzy.
    "Aargh, stop it!"
Then Ice revealed another handy trick.
"Hyper Beam Bayonet!" he yelled, and shot his entire arm out flat in front of him, and a huge, glowing yellow spear shot from his fingertips. It stabbed the dragon's nose and vanished.
    "AAAAAAAAAAAAARRGH!!" yelled the dragon.
"What's up, big guy?" he smirked. "Need a Band-Aid?"
    "You..."
And instead of spitting more fireballs, or trying to wrap it's green tongue around Ice, the dragon did something it hadn't done in the game: it lunged, jaws open, fangs gleaming, at Ice, and snapped it's jaws shut over him. It felt like its mouth had been cracked. With a screech of pain, it opened its mouth, and suddenly streams of fire non-stop came pouring out of its mouth in rage. Ice, no fool, could tell that he had only one hope to beat this maniacal monster. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small jar, containing a small purple snail, and threw it into the dragon's gaping mouth.
The flames stopped pouring out, and suddenly an almighty explosion erupted in its mouth.
    "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!"
The monster collapsed, wheezing, spitting out gobs of the snail's mucus. Ice landed beside it.
    "You lose."
    The dragon looked at him.
    "And...you...(a-hack!) win...(bleaugh!)"
    It seemed to be sick.
"Wash your mouth out and wait for the bear. He won't be long."
And Ice flew back to the Gang.
