Hell's Waiting:HSH2 (Intro) By Carnotaur3
HELL’S WAITING
WRITTEN BY CHASE KUERTZ
OPEN ON:
1 EXT. HIGHWAY – NIGHT/RAINY 1
An stretched wet road, surrounded by endless darkness. The only light was coming from the one blue VAN speeding through the rain.
CUT TO:
2 INT. VAN – DARK 2
The driver of the van, IVAN HEROLD, is wearing a dark black jacket with a jump suit. In his late 30’s, his face looks tiresome.
IVAN We’ve been on this endless fricking road for hours…
Next to him is his leader, JONATHAN SUMMERS. He is a young man around the age of 23 with dark brown hair.
JONATHAN Just keep your eyes on the road. Never know when we’ll hydroplane.
IVAN No cars, Summers. You think anything would come of it?
JONATHAN says nothing.
IVAN (cont’d) So the equipment is with Sandy?
JONATHAN That’s right, 7:00 we’ll be up there unloading.
IVAN Shouldn’t we at least check and see if it’s the one?
JONATHAN I know it’s the one.
JONATHAN pulls out a tape recorder and plays it. A familiar voice enters our ears. DAN (V.O.) So, we went out to find a new house. And it wasn’t the third time of looking we finally had found what we were looking for.
JONATHAN stops the recorder.
JONATHAN Nothing happens on accident.
IVAN Summers, if this happens to be the same ol’ shit all over again, I’m out of the job. I’m not spending the rest of my life looking for a possessed house that probably doesn’t exist.
JONATHAN I will.
IVAN That’s why you pricks have no life.
CUT TO:
3 EXT. HIGHWAY – NIGHT/RAINY 3
The VAN skids off the side of the road nearly crashing into a tree.
CUT TO:
4 EXT. SIDE OF ROAD – NIGHT/RAINY 4
IVAN opens the door and shuts it walking down the road. JONATHAN follows.
JONATHAN What did I do?
IVAN I’m tired of this! I’m tired of searching for something that we’ll never find.
JONATHAN Ok, we’ll go tonight. We’ll go right now and look into it.
IVAN nods and gets back into the truck s another boom of thunder shakes the ground.
CUT TO:
5 EXT. OUTSIDE HOUSE – NIGHT/RAINY 5
An old woman passes a key to JONATHAN.
OLD WOMAN Here I found it under the mat. Be careful.
JONATHAN Thank you, miss.
He throws the key to IVAN and motions him to unlock and open the door.
He moves up the stairs holding the black railing. We now get a glimpse of the whole house. From what we’ve seen of it before this was the ‘one’.
He sticks the key in the lock and it clicks. He pushes up against the door.
Door doesn’t move.
IVAN Hm…door want budge.
JONATHAN Just kick it in.
IVAN gently pushes it and it squeaks open. IVAN shrugs and --
CUT TO:
6 INT. HOUSE – DARK 6
-- he walks into the entrance rubbing his feet on the rug beneath him.
Looking around, IVAN turns on a flashlight on the side of his belt buckle and motions for JONATHAN to come on in. JONATHAN Looks just like it is in the pictures.
IVAN Weird.
JONATHAN Follow my lead, let’s go to the basement.
CUT TO:
7 INT. BASEMENT – DARK 7
JONATHAN shines the light on the flattened ping pong table.
IVAN So this is where it all started?
JONATHAN Yes, the gateway!
IVAN (SARCASTICALLY)
Hm…spooky!
JONATHAN points his flashlight all around when he hears something calling his name. IVAN gets ahead of him.
VOICE (SOFT AND FAINT)
Jonathan…
Soon, JONATHAN was out of IVAN’S sight without him noticing.
IVAN turns around.
IVAN Jonathan?
No answer, it becomes aware to us now that this is the house.
IVAN (cont’d) Jonathan!
JONTHAN, from out of nowhere, jumps up.
JONATHAN What?! IVAN Shit, you scared the hell out of me.
JONATHAN snickers.
JONATHAN Sorry. So, you think this is it?
IVAN Probably a hoax…self made.
The LIGHTS suddenly flicker on. The two men look at each other then they see the skull on the floor. ROBERT HARDY’S skull. Blood is pouring out of the eyes.
Suddenly up above on the ceiling, the light fixtures fill up with blood and it pours on the two men.
IVAN (cont’d) Ah, get the hell out, now!
They both run up the stairs to the first floor.
CUT TO:
8 INT. HOUSE – MOMENTS LATER 8
They run and skip there way through the kitchen to the entrance and out the door, shutting it behind them furiously.
As this happens the lights flicker off with only the lightning from the storm giving the light.
The CAMERA PANS:
From the door to the window by moving left. The lightning shows up the men getting in their truck and leaving.
FADE TO:
9 INT. DEN – BRIGHT 9
Hardwood floors, red curtains, a Christmas tree in the corner, this is just a few of what is in the DEN of MARK TELAWAY’S house. He looks to be in his 30s and has a nice red sweater on. A small case of 6 day growth is on his face and chin. His girlfriend, TERRY BRACY is dancing with him. Christmas songs play in the background.
TERRY You’re off.
MARK I am.
TERRY You’re tensed.
MARK That also.
TERRY You shouldn’t be. Not your character!
MARK Really? What is my character?
TERRY Well, you’re charming.
She kisses him.
MARK Right…
TERRY Handsome.
MARK I agree.
TERRY Special.
MARK Absolutely.
He kisses her now.
TERRY I guess that’s why I love you.
MARK Mmm, I would say so.
They cuddle up and embrace each other more. They are about to kiss again when the phone rings.
TERRY You get it.
MARK (TEASING)
Uh, uh, you!
MARK departs to the phone on the desk.
MARK Hello?
TERRY watches him patiently.
MARK (cont’d) What? You fou… Ok, well… Knoxville? Are you sure?
CUT TO:
10 EXT. PAYPHONE – NIGHT/RAINY 10
We are outside the payphone watching JONATHAN talk.
JONATHAN Definitely! We’ve seen it and “other things”. You have to come down here with the video equipment now.
MARK (V.O.) Why?
JONATHAN Because we’ve only got this one chance to do it, before it goes away again.
MARK (V.O.) But I’ll miss…
JONATHAN You’ll be back in time for Christmas dinner. I promise. Christmas EVE day is all.
CUT BACK TO:
11 INT. DEN – BRIGHT 11
MARK shakes his head.
MARK Don’t know about this.
JONATHAN (V.O.) Trust me, it’s only gonna be a day. Then you can fly back and have your Christmas.
Hesitant, MARK releases his answer.
MARK Fine, I’ll be there in the morning.
He hangs up the phone and walks to TERRY.
MARK (cont’d) Tomorrow.
TERRY What?
MARK Don’t worry, he says we’ll be back in time for Christmas. Besides, if he tries to make us stay longer, I’ll kick his ass.
TERRY Yeah, for me?
She laughs.
MARK Oh, for you.
TERRY But you know I have a bad feeling about all this.
They begin to dance to the music again.
MARK I know about you and your bad feelings, but this seems fine to me. Besides, the house has been quiet for years. What makes it want to come back alive like it was before.
TERRY What makes you think it’s the house? She smirks.
MARK I don’t. I mean…I don’t know yet.
TERRY I’m tired of running around not knowing if we found it.
MARK He’s over enthusiastic about this one. Who knows if this is it.
TERRY One more dance?
MARK Sure!
Another song comes up and it’s Elvis Presley singing Blue Christmas. MARK mouths the words to TERRY.
She laughs out loud.
