Life Isn't What it Seems: Part 1
    By Cameron1

You see a red mini-wan pull into the driveway of a beautiful house. He parks the van next to a black Mustang. The driver of the mini-van turns off the engine and steps out of the vehicle. He slams the van's door shut and walks into the house.

"Sarah, I'm home!" yells the man.

The sound of footsteps on the staircase can be heard. An absolutely beautiful woman comes into view and walks across the lving room to meet the man.

"It is so good seeing you again Robert," the woman says as she hugs him.

" I'm back for two weeks before I go to the rigs to work again," replies Robert.

" Can you believe we have already been married for 6 months?" asks Sarah.

"It is amazing, isn't it?" Robert responds.

"Yes, it is," Sarah says, " What do you want for dinner?".

    "What?" asks Robert in suprise.

"It's your first night back, I'll make you anything you want," replies Sarah.

"I was planning on taking you out tonight to the Steakhouse," Robert says.

"That would be lovely!" exclaims Sarah.

"I haven't been here for over a month, I want to take you out tonight," Robert laughs.

"I'll be ready in fifteen minutes," Sarah says. She rushes off to their bedroom to prepare for dinner. Robert follows to put on his dinner clothes.

    20 MINUTES LATER

Robert and Sarah are in the Mustang driving through Calgary, going towards The Keg steakhouse. Robert is driving.

" This is going to be a fantastic night," Sarah says.

Robert pulls into the parking lot of the steakhouse. Both he and Sarah exit the car and walk inside the restaurant. There is a man standing just inside of the entrance.

"A table for two I presume?" asks the man.

"Yes, and bring us a bottle of your finest wine," Robert replies.

"Right this way sir," says the man. He shows the couple to their table.

"A waiter will be with you shortly," the man says. He begins to walk back to the entrance of the restaurant.

" This is beautiful, I am going to remember tonight for a long time," Sarah says.

A waiter comes over to their table with a bottle of wine and two menus.

" My wife and I already know what we will be ordering," Robert says.

The waiter takes the menus back.

"What can I get you sir?" asks the waiter.

" I will have a Sirloin steak, well done please," Robert tells the waiter.

"I will have the same, only my steak mediu-rare please." adds Sarah.

" Your meal will be here shortly," replies the waiter, who ten walks away.

Robert pours the wine into two glasses and he and Sarah clink their glassestogether.

    "To our marriage," Robert toasts.

    "To our marriage," repeats Sarah.

They both take a drink from their cups then place them gently on the table.

"Look out the window in the front of the restaurant, the city looks beautiful tonight," observes Robert.

    "Yes it does," agrees Sarah.

"But you look much more beautiful," Robert compliments.

"You are the sweetest man a woman could have," replies Sarah.

The waiter comes back to their table.

"Your meal should be ready in about 15 minutes," the waiter announces, " Would you like some appetizers for now?"

    "No thank you," replies Robert.
    The waiter walks away.

" I'll be right back, I need to use the restroom," Sarah says. Sarah stands up and walks away towards the back of the building.

Robert takes another sip of wine.

A thunderous crash echos throughout the restaurant as the big window at the front explodes into thousands of little peices of glass. Six people in ski masks holding shotguns step in through the hole in the wall where the glass once was.

"This is a hold-up, we want all the money the store has collected today!" yells one of the people, a man.

That voice sounds familiar, thinks Robert.

"Ok, ok,just let me get it," yells out the owner of the restaurant, going to the safe where the store keeps it's money. The owner opens the safe with the correct combination.

One of the masked robbers walks over to the safe with a bag in his hand. He empties all the cash into the bag.

"Let's get the hell out of here!" yells the guy with the money. All of the robbers go back out the window and get into a black car parked on the street. They speed off down the road.

As the store owner phones the police, Robert goes up to a lady and asks her to check the restroom for his wife. The lady checks the Ladies Room and come back out.

"There is nobody in there," The Lady says.

    "Thank you," Robert replies.

Robert frantically begins to search the restaurant for his wife, finally giving up. Robert goes out to the parking lot to see if Sarah went to the car. When he gets to their parking spot, he notices the Mustang is gone.
