I'm too lazy to research it, but you should probably make sure that his enrollment at Oxford would not be grounds for an education deferment from the military. I know that such things existed during the Vietnam War, but I can't say for certain whether that was the case in 1943. Worth looking into.
Also, there's the matter of the draft notice. No way, no how, would a draft notice ever begin with "we regret to inform you". The U.S. wants you to be proud and honored and all that good stuff.
Other than that, I can find no fault. You're off to a good start here...future installments will be on my reading list.

I have two suggestions, though. 1- After finishing a paragraph, press enter twice before continuing. This will make it easier to read. 2- The date on the letter is August 17, 1443. You might want fix that.
