    Excellent.

The description of the boats motion was amazing, i can still see it swaying roughly in the tropical storm.

And the mystery surrounding this X-Factor has me quite intrigued, i hope to find out soon what it is all about.

It's funny to think, that when I first heard of this story, I thought the name "X Factor" was just an attempt to come up with some cool name, that people would think was cool. (what an odd sentence that was) But, as it turns out, this X Factor is actually a big part of the story. A BIG PART. And ya know what? I'm very interested to find out just what the hell it is. And that should be taken as a great compliment to you and your writing talents.

So far, this story has wowed me. Now as it nears the island, I can't wait for it to scare me. . . . it better scare me. lol

    Thanks, Yvonne and Strider!

The idea of taking it two different directions actually is my way of following the old screenwriting technique of "get in late and get out early"...it's easier to only tell the important bits when you have other characters to switch to. Tricky huh? :)

And Yvonne, It's good that the detail of Grant's journey is appreciated. I sat down at the keyboard that day determined to slow the pace of the story with a long descriptive narrative--I was quite frankly afraid it would put the reader to sleep, but I felt the story needed it, to sort of "put the brakes on"...

Anyhow...I'll keep writing --you guys keep commenting ;)

    I love it!
like yvonne, i have been gripped from the beginning. i also like the idea of splitting up and going two ways with the story. it'll be fun if malcolm finds out about X-Factor and goes "Oh my God"
and the others are already on Sorna. he he ...

Up to this point, the story had already grabbed me, so I was eager to read chapter 5. Now that I'm finished with it, I've been pulled in even more!

I love how it's going into two different directions, with Grant/Lex going to the island, and Malcolm being the investigator for now. It makes for a good pace, switching back and forth like that. Plus, Grant seems to want to protect Lex, which adds to the reasons behind him wanting to go to island. :)

And the dialogue between Grant and Lex was very good, too. :)

The best thing in the chapter, for me anyway, was the incredible amount of detail that you've put in, regarding Grant's travels to the Bridge. And then the journey back, where he sees Lex for a minute. And what you have him say there at the end, sounds exactly like something that he would say.

I'm loving this story so far! More! :)
