Don't get me wrong, but when I read the prologue and the first act, it was astonishingly promising. With the plot, I don't think this is gonna beat your 'old' records. But it's still pretty damn good.

I found the problem a bit predictable but still believable cause for conflict and was sated by this chapter, I'll be sure to look for future installments. Need to see where this is going :)
