Favorite line of the chapter! . . . Followed closely by. . .
"This fucker is gonna run me over." Jared seemed insulted as he spoke.'
I have to say that this chapter sticks out in my mind as my favorite chapter from the most recent postings. It had a nice flow to it, and overall, I think it took itself less seriously and just had more fun and humor in it. Jared was responsible for the most of that humor, I'm liking his character. Of course humor and fun won't make a story, and there was nice dramatic elements added into this chapter. I thought it was so cool that Dennington (the ass!) tried to run them all over. It fits his paranoid and dumbass personality perfectly, while it's also just kind of funny. Too bad Alyssa didn't make his head explode. I was really looking forward to that, dammit. I like the three hybrids and how they seem to react a little differently to the whole situation as it unfolds before them (Jared's insulted and almost a little worried, Alyssa wants to shoot the bastard, and Mark seems so distracted or distanced from it all, that you wonder if in the back of his mind he's thinking 'Oh my god, I left the oven on!'). I'm hoping, really, that Mark will loosen up a little, he's been too tense in recent chapters. Sometimes that's good, it stresses the fact that he's a badass. But sometimes, it makes him boring. The line about singing was one of the few lines he's had since going super hybrid that proves he's still got human emotions, and not the mind of a machine. He's still my favorite character, but he's getting almost a little too cold lately. I think, anyway.
But anywho, a nice chapter, really very enjoyable.
