A low-budget 1993 film which attempted to capitalize on the success of JP was called "Carnosaur" -- Ironically, it starred Larua Dern's mother, Diane Ladd. (From: jurassiraptor)

I had wanted to check this story out because I remembered really liking some of your short horror stories from before. This was different, going more for spookiness and atmosphere. Pretty good stuff.

I really liked the writing in the first half. It was tense and interesting. I wasn't sure what was gonna happen next and was concerned about the main character. The surroundings were also well written and created a cool atmosphere. Niftyness. Lots of good stuff here.

By the time they got back to camp with the dead deer, things kinda shifted gears. Alex's lurking paranoia about the abyss and fears of the forest were interesting, along with the sounds of the antlers, but they ended up going nowhere. Indeed, there was no payoff. I'm fine when things have no payoff at the end, sometimes that makes things even freakier, but there was something definitely missing here. I don't know, when they got back with the dead deer, things began to feel as though they were rushing towards the conclusion, but since there ultimately was no real conclusion, it was slightly disappointing.

Overall, it was off to a promising start but stumbled somewhere along the way. Good writing though and I'm looking forward to reading more of your stuff in the future.
