Well, the ending of the book of POTA sucks then because it was totally rediculous. And the bad thing is they will probably make a sequel to a film that was less than stellar. I think that the creator's of the new POTA should have just followed the original film which I think would have been more effective. I mean, there is a whole new generation of younger adults and kids alike who haven't seen the old POTA and wouldn't know what to expect. But either way...I think POTA will have a similar track record as The Mummy Returns $ wise. I do hope JP3 will make at least $180 million, I mean, it was a fantastic movie dispite what others say. I mean, it's not the best movie of the summer but it is certainly not the worst. But next weekend look to see POTA drop in ticket sales as Rush Hour 2 is coming out and I expect it to have a big opening. Just my 2 cents.

Most people seem to like POTA. Check out IMDb. It has a 7.1/10, compared to JP3's 6.4/10.

Hell, I liked both movies, so I want 'em to do well.

And what's so bad about a $150m gross? That's still in the Top 10 of the year.

This was to be expected. Really, there's nothing to worry about. JP3 looks to make 200 million domestically. It will make a whole lot more worldwide. It's still quite successful considering. I remember being afraid it would bomb since a lot of people hated TLW, but it's a blessing that that didn't happen.

BTW, has anybody heard that new JP4 rumor, where the film woiuld B called Planet of the Raptors?

Let’s face facts. The reason Jurassic park 3 has more showing is the fact that it’s a very short movie. Planet of the apes is a half hour longer than Jurassic park 3. As for who will make the most money in the long run? I really don’t think Jurassic Park 3 will be around for another mouth. It’s already dropping fast, and it’s obvious that it will not come close to the gross of the first two films. One being the reason that it’s not as good as the first two (but it’s still a good movie) the second is the fact that allot more movies are coming out. Planet of the Apes will follow the same trend, but I think it will gross more. The opening alone are ready guarantees it to surpass Jurassic park 3 gross, but with word of mouth, I don’t think this will hit 200 million dollars. I Saw Planet of the apes, and while I did like it, I don’t think I will pay to see it again. Just the same with Jurassic Park 3, I did like it but I will not pay to see it again. I am not only speaking for myself but allot of people as well. If you don’t believe me, look at the gross. The movie may drop 55- to 60 percent this weekend, that’s not a good sigh for any movie. Planet of the Apes will do the same next week as well.

Let’s just enjoy what we have, and stops auguring over things that are petty.

In response to the dark shape. Ok, Mark Walberg was ok in Three Kings (I love the movie, but his acting wasn't the part I loved from it) and was ok in the Perfect Storm as well...but boogie nights...your kidding me right. I mean, I felt as if he was reading lines in boogie nights. He acted horrible in that movie. I don't see how you think he acted so great. And believe me I have sat through boogie nights and I don't see what his talent...sorry. Now some may say Tea Leoni was annoying in JP3, well, that wasn't her best acting attempt but none the less she is a great actress. I mean, the performance she gave in Deep Impact was awesome. But in JP3 she was meant to be annoying. But under the right circumstances she is a great actress. And people, don't compare Mark Walberg to Sam Neill or William H. Macy because he can't even come close to them.

Helena Bonham Carter definitely made the best performance in POTA, and I would say she out-performed everyone in JP3 as well. I've been having a hard time deciding which film I prefer...I was more disappointed by POTA than JP3, however I would probably rank POTA a little higher (despite its horrible script, it at least had a little depth to it - very, very little depth, but more than the mindlessness of JP3). Of course, the JP3 mindlessness was very fun. But that's all there was to that film.

In regards to my cast comment -

You've got Mark Wahlberg who, though many in denile would hate to admit it, is actually a damn good actor. Don't believe me? Sit through Boogie Nights and, to a lesser extent, The Perfect Storm.

Michael Clarke Duncan is great. Helena Botham Carter is one of the best actresses of our generation (no, Téa Leoni is not - not by a longshot). Tim Roth is one of the best actors of our generation. You've got Charlton Heston and David Warner in there, not to mention the always-fun Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

Besides, JP3 and POTA aren't really competing, much to your dismay. JP has already made up its budget. Therefore everything it makes now is profit, so all of you scared that there won't be a JP4 can rest assured that there will be based on gross.

And a $120m 11-day total is hardly disappointing.

My thoughts are that if Mc Farlane toys: creator of spawn were to do a figure for there movie maniacs series it would be awesome. And I'm sure everyone would agree with me on that. My idea is that if you go to spawn.com and swamp him with entusiastic letters asking the company to consider creating a figure I'm sure that enough peiople would persued them to do so. just a thought. www.spawn.com

Well, here's my PotA review. And there's sPoilers, so beware. Ite, I seen this film yesterday and I'll try to seperate the good from the bad.

The good: Let's begin with the end. When Leo returned to Earth to see the Thade Memorial, and finds that Earth had been taken over by the apes, this was a mix between the endings of the 60's movie, and the book that both films were based on. I think this is an ending people will B talking about for a long time. Estella Warren is hotter than Tea Leoni. Attar and Thade were probably some of the best characters in any Apes movie. This version of Ape City was cooler than the old one. And the "Ape Foreplay" scene with the chimp and the orangutan was priceless.

Now the bad. Much as I liked the ending, I kinda saw it coming. Daena is no Nova, and Leo is No Taylor. In fact, neither of them had very many lines in the movie at all. Leo seemed hotter for Ari than for her! And once again the black guy dies. What a shocker. Cool as I found Attar, I didn't find the ending with him that believable. He kills his teacher, Ari's faithful servant, 2 blinks of an eye later, nobody notices he's dead. Not to mention the tons of bad Ape jokes, lagging storyline, overuse of the word 'human' sounding corny, and being unable to distinguish just what the hell the apes are saying. As good as the good was, the bad kind of outweighed it.

The only reason POTA got all the $ is because it's a fuckin remake of one of the greatest movies of all time! Do you think people would go see that movie if they knew how stupid it would be??? NO!!!!!!! They just saw it to compare it with old one, that's all. They ain't gonna see it three or four times in a row like JP3. In the year 2101 there will most likely be a remake of the original Jurassic Park in 3D or somthing. That will make 50 mill in one day easily. That is what POTA is doing, riding the promotion of a legend. Nothing more, Nothing less.

With PotA, all I've been hearing is "Well, the only good thing was the makeup for the monkeys." POTA only has high numbers now because it just came out. After everyone sees how much IT SUCKS, the dust will settle, and JP3 will ultimately beat it in total totals at the box office.

I'm going to go see JP3 again today(sixth time!). No need to worry. I can almost guarantee JP3 will make more money in the long run than POTA. I mean, honestly, which would you rather see? Talking monkeys, or dinosaurs? My point exactly.

planet of the apes was good but not as good as jurassic park 3. it had moments where it just dragged, and dragged, and dragged. JP3 had 95 minutes of pure nonstop action and never slowed down. when the dust settles i think JP3 will rake in the most dough.

PotA took in more because it started on a Friday and it had a lot more hype than JP3 did. JP3 more than 19 million the first day and it was only expected to be around 10 million. We shall see which movie tooks in more money over time.

POTA sucks. I might like it, but POTS SUCKS!!!

I saw it last night and did not care much for it, and I'm a huge Planet of the Apes fan, so no one can say I'm biased towards Jurassic Park; I like both franchises equally. Burton's POTA was illogical, and poorly constructed and acted. It had moments (notably the ending), but that was all. JP3 is the better film.
