I wish Universal would just say, "Look, you put your DVDs back in their cases and send them to us and we'll send you the improved replacements, because it was our fault." So that we could all get the corrected DVDs. Univeral also lied about the "Direct Hotlink to The Filming Site of JP3" on the JP DVD. Go figure. :-)

Well I stand corrected. :) It's nice that Universal has decided to correct their mistake, however..

nope, it"s not that easy: cranking up will raise the entire spectrum, thus higher frequencies will become very aggressive for instance. if you search our recent threads on the HTF, we have done extensive analysis on this. as a matter of fact, even Lost World dvd is still not a match to the laserdiscs. but JP dts is much lower than the dolbysurround track on the dvd: shame on Universal

The VHS of Jurassic has more bass. My old TV would shake the floor. The DVDs with no DTS are okay, I mean the music when coming to the island is so epic.

    Dan,

It's the bass that is 4db lower. There has been a lot of controversy about the bass management of the original JP DTS DVD. Some people have done some detailed analyzations on it, and the bass is actually lower compared to the DD DVDs.

I maxed out the receiver. The music could have been a little louder. That's why I love seeing Park movies in theatres.

The whole DTS/Dolby debate has been going on forever.. personally, I've heard both and they really sound the same to me.

What I don't get is if the track was recorded 4db lower, can't you just crank up your receiver to compensate?

I have DTS. It is strange! Sometimes I set DTS on a DVD and doesn't work, and another disc with DTS does.

You people should hear Gladiator on DTS. It is ear-shattering!

Since I don't have a DTS decoder, I'm not going to shell out another $40 bucks for this. My major concern regarding the DVDs is what will happen when JP3 is released. It will look pretty pathetic alone sitting next to the 2-pack, but I certainly don't want to buy 2 discs I already have for a 3-pack, unless they add new stuff to the other 2 movies. This is actually pretty common, especially with Universal and their whole obsession with "Ultimate Editions". Hell, if Patch Adams gets a 2-disc set, why not JP and TLW, and while they're at it, Jaws? I'll probably end up whatever crap they put out if it says Jurassic Park somewhere on the box. End rant.

By the way, I'm new here, hey everybody!

They had a guy on eBay selling a Jurassic Park DVD holder for all 3 movies made out of some heavy duty expensive metal, looked professionally done, but this was before, WAAAAYYY before, they announced there would be a DVD,

This is only for people with DTS surround-sound setups (not Dolby), and ONLY the JP disc. Most of us won't need to buy anything...

Looks like I'll have to repurchase this one! The previous dts discs where a dissapointment compare to their dolby digital counterparts.

Great, the people clamored for them to indicate the fixed versions, but it would suck if they only released them in a package, and not separately,
