Ebert gave JP three stars only based on effects, much like he recommended The Haunting because of the impressive house.

I guess him giving it a passing grade because of effects is better than no passing grade at all.

Jurassic Theory, when you say the movie is a turkey, I must agree with you. You're right it does look like a turkey. A six foot turkey. So let's say you go to the movies to see this "turkey", and there it is, likely bobing it's head, and you stare at it looking at the spino trash the plane and you're thinking, "This is shit!" when the attack comes from the side, the other two movies you didn't even know were there. You see, like raptors these movies are pack hunters, you diss one, the others attack. You badmouth this movie on almost all posts regarding it. You are undeserving, you should not be here, and if you really want to badmouth do it somwhere else, because it is not appriciated here, why don't you make your own website, and badmouth it there? But again you diss the movie, and it just might come back to bite you in the ass. So please, try to show a little respect.

    (Re:@A.I.)omigod. . I thought they were aliens.

About the reviews though: well the majority of critics are usually right. They don't just watch the movie, they think about how much better (if at all) it could've been made. It is POSSIBLE to have a JPseries movie that has meaningful character development, an intricate plausible plot, groundbreaking aesthetics (not just more and different dinos), and still be a tickler of a movie. . . all at the same time.
WE (I) will still love this movie. It'll be great cuz it will have realistic dinosaurs! Isn't that all we want? The critics want a little more. . ;) thats all.

Children, calm down! he movie is still 10 days away so why make up your minds already? Let's face facts, neither of the previous 2 were perfect and no doubt JP3 won't be either. The original astonished on release (mainly because dinosaurs were seen 'realistically' for the first time) and whilst it still stands up on it's own as a movie, it has some irritating moments and even more irritating kids. Likewise TLW only more so. I watched TLW again recently to get in the mood for JP3 and aside from a couple of quality scenes, it isn't a classic. What we lot probably want (less kids, more adult orientated action) we ain't never going to get - this isn't the Alien franchise - these are family movies. Let's just hope that it's a quality summer 'popcorn' movie.

I read the reviews and I'm not overly surprized. They are mixed, mostly leaning towards "slightly better than the Lost World."

I liked The Lost World, but it wasn't in the same league as Jurassic Park. So this review makes me happy. I still have the original The Lost World movie poster hanging in my house.

I feel that I have to place my thoughts in here for the first time since I joined this site a month or so ago. I hope you open mindedly read what I have to say and respond respectfully.

Jurassic Park; A groundbreaking film. A film genre that never had been attempted and executed successfully before. It was fresh and new to our world. So what do people do when something fresh and new hits stores shelves? They consume, of course, as much as possible. Same with this movie. That’s why it is considered great. Don’t get me wrong, I also believe it is great and one of the best movies ever made. I can’t help feel, however, that I like it because it was new to me.

The Lost World; A film up against flamethrowers and sentry guns. A movie that was, and still is, battered because of its plot, among other things. Wait a minute. Lets see why we attacked the plot. What did the first have going for it that had it out for the second? The freshness. The newness. The world that had never been explored. The world of dinosaurs. The Lost World really wasn’t new to us, and since it wasn’t new to us, we found ways to look past the magical world of dinos and find ways to raise what was new on a pedestal. Think about it, if The Lost World came first and the roles reversed, we would love it. But no. It’s now just a movie, a sequel, something old, so lets pick it apart like a movie should be. JP1 was not picked apart because, alas, it was new. I have to agree that there was more to be picked apart in TLW than the first, however, I can’t help feeling that way because I am looking for a way for JP1 to remain supreme.

After practicing what I preach, I find The Lost World an excellent movie in its own content and category. It carried us along the journey of unrestricted living dinosaurs on an island with almost no human interference. Jurassic Park was excellent because it introduced us into something magical, something new, something unimaginable. They both have sentimental value.

Now the third installment levitates in the near future and it faces worse critiques and expectations than the second. I bet it will be a great movie in what it is trying to accomplish. The First was to introduce discuss the ignorance in bringing extinct animals back. The Second was to explore and play with nature. Third seems to demonstrate the intelligence of these animals as well as entertain. So people, please think out as to why your opinions are what they are. Explore your observations. Don’t jump to conclusions. Don’t be quick to judge unless you fully investigate your analysis and answer the questions: what is the problem on hand, what am I trying to decide, have I thoroughly observed all possibilities, and why have I come to this decision? All these questions should come to mind when reviewing, or previewing for that matter, a movie. So let’s give Jurassic Park 3 a chance, and see what it is all about.

No, JP2's crappiness has no bearing on JP3 at all. I'm judging by script exerpts, reviews, general knowledge of the plot, previews, and comments made by Johnston, etc. It looks more like a non-stop action movie than anything else. Something just to get a bunch of dinos running around chasing people and dazzling the audience. Read JP1, watch JP1, you don't get that kind of feeling. You get an in-depth plot with actual points to it.

I don't go by the opinions of the reviewers at all, after all, Dumb and Dumber is one of the finer movies of all time (:-D), and I doubt THAT got 5 stars! I go by the plot, which, I have read in-depth descriptions of. I don't care what Bob thought of the script, I have my own thoughts, and, from what I've seen, they're crap.

The problem with the reviews is that they are saying that every charcter gets a 10 minute-get-to-know-him moment, well JP had that too and the lost world not at all so what?!

Saying the Trex should come back,no way!!!!We've had enough(TOOMUCH)of him in the first two films. He had it coming!

Don't bother to read reviews....it makes you depressed for no reason at all.

Why do you guys always look to the bad review. There are good reviews at AICN along with the bad ones, and the one at BBC is a good one. Don't ever expect them to give it 5 stars, you guys must have looked too high. Just be glad that the majority of people have said they liked the film.

3rd, oh isn't that so special! Erm, anyway, I don't give a crap about what reviewers say, I'll decide whether it's "totally crap" or "a fun summer popcorn movie" when I see it
p.s. I didn't bother to read the reviews.
