RexMan, that's exactly what I was thinking.

"The best reason for 1.85:1 is the subject matter: Big, tall dinosaurs," Joe said. "They'd have to kneel down to get into a 2.35 frame."

Huh? 2.35:1 isn't shorter than 1.85:1, it's just wider! The height of both ratios is the same. It's only the width that is different. I mean, if you want to fit tall dinosaurs into the frame, regardless of the AR, then just move the camera back!

the t. rex specimen i got the measurements are from AMNH 5027...i forgot to meantion the specimen type UCMP 118742 which was 13.6m long and 4.4m at the hip...but other theropods possibly on that island include, according to differernt sources, include, besides the ones i had before, was albertosaurus libratus. other possible and i said POSSIBLE ones living in some unexplored corner of the island(where ever the hell the spinosaurus aegyptiacus was) are acrocanthosaurus atokensis, cacharodontosaurus saharicus, cryolophosaurus ellioti, and giganotasurus carolinii. and lots not forget that ceratosaurus nasicornis' reletive, the dilophosaurus wetherilli, is another theropod that might make a stay for c. nasicornis a bit hard...not to mention the damn sickle-claws velociraptor mongoliensis and deinonychus antirrhopus hunting around as well as coelophysis bauri......NOTE: i am going by a combined book/movie type thing here...and judging by the collector cards that went with the first JP toys and die cast figurines, which wre closley tied in with the movie, that the dinosaurs in the toys wrerer also in the movie islands somewhere and somehow. and i am also going by the lost world PSX video game which showed allosaurus fragilis and baryonyx walkeri and deinonychus antirrhopus. and in the PC game trespasser and the PSX warpath, therer was and albertosaurus libratus. the acrocanthosaurus atokensis, cacharodontosaurus saharicus, cryolophosaurus ellioti, and giganotasurus carolinii are from warpathe for which is why i said POSSIBLE for them. and the coelophysis bauri both gracile and robust versions were a toy. furthermore, both TLW novel and movie didn't explore all of sorna...which leaves certain possibilities.

well ceratosaurus nasicornis 5.69m long and 1.51m at the hip.....it is rather small compared to our friend tyrnannosaurus rex, for example, which was 10.6m long and was 3.4 m at the hip. now these seem small cuz they are all in metric cuz thats the only way they had em listed with both measurements...and the book i got it out of was from '88, so "Sue" and the larger, more recent t. rex discovery are not in their.....but you ever think it could be carnotaurus satstrei? i don'tr think ingen ever bred ceratosaurus nasicornis, it's in none of any books or video games or toys or whatnot....and sides, i don't think one could fit on sorna...there are already carnotaurus sastrei and allosaurus fragilis and baryonyx walkeri and some others filling they medium theropod niche in the un-tyrnannosaurus rex territory

ceratosaurus aren't small... if it's so there are A LOT of dinos it can be... even a juvenile spino

I know this has nothing to do with this topic , but at the end of the teaser that aired during survivor, i think the dino snapping at Amanda at the end is a Ceratosaurus. It too big for a raptor but too small for anything else.

2:35 is a longer widescreen while 1:85 is a bigger one

Every movie is filmed in widescreen. 1.85:1 and 2:35 are BOTH widescreen. Only there's alot more filmed on the sides in a 2:35 ratio. 2:35 is just a BIGGER widescreen.

1.85:1 is still a widescreen format...

YES!!! although 2:35 ratio may look good on the "big screen" it looks really bad on my 32inch tv. the black bars take up almost half of the screen and can get really annoying at times. (thinking ahead on the dvd) i like it that joe is keeping a lot of things the same in jp3 and not changing everything up. (jp and TLW) plus the dinos would look pathetic on 2:35screens

HOLY CRAP!!! 1.85:1 is horrible to look at at the big screen. It may work on DVD or on the TV, but definetely not in the movie theater. But "The Lost World" had a very good cinematography in 1.85:1, I hope this one will have too.

At 1:43:12 PM on 6/10/2001, Faulkner said:
yes...screw widescreen, it keeps continuity and the reasons he gives are pretty logical...
