It's been said that director Steven Spielberg only takes on films where the plot can be described in one sentence.

Here is the conversation w/ Macy:
DishDiva : dh003i2 Asks: Ian made a return appearance in Jurassic Park II. Why isn't he appearing in Jurassic Park III? Will Grant's girlfriend be in Jurassic Park III? What about Hammond?
William_H_Macy_ : The only person in JP III that was in a previous one is Sam Neill and Laura Dern, although Laura shot from the shores of Jersey while everyone else was running from dinosaurs in the jungle. (laughs)

thomasjm20010110101 Asks: Do you think this movie has a "fresh and new" approach to the JP series?
William_H_Macy_ : I think they spent a little more time developing the human plots, but mostly JP III will be a big fat adventure film. We annoy a spinosaurus at the beginning and it's a big mistake because he chases us the next 90 minutes.

DishDiva : BullSpinosaurus Asks: Is there a Spinosaurus in the final scene? If so, what happens? Does it do anything to the military?
William_H_Macy_ : No, the spinosaurus isn't in the final scene, Sam chases it off with a flair gun. The final scene has pteranodons, they are very scary, they are like volkswagon sized pterodactyls.

DishDiva : Mr_Goodbytes_theonly1 Asks: Do you know if it was the same animatronic T-Rex from The Lost World, or did Stan Winston create a new one?
William_H_Macy_ : The pteranodon is a new puppet. I think they canibalized the old puppets, but the puppets are all new and better than before. The Velocaraptor, you could see their heart beating, they were so realistic it was freightening to be around them. It made acting easy. There is one scene where one was sniffing Tea Leoni, and it's not computer generated and
William_H_Macy_ : it will boggle your mind!

DishDiva : greatone says: Where was "JP III" shot?
William_H_Macy_ : We shot it in Hawaii and the rest on the back lot of Universal. It had some of the most breathtaking shots for any movie anywhere.

DishDiva : betaraptor says: What did you keep from the set? Fess up!
William_H_Macy_ : Nothing. I don't have a thing. Many times actors will want to keep a piece of their costume, but I wore the same costume for 5 months and I never want to see it again.

DishDiva : allosaurus80 Asks: Is the infant Tyrannosaur from the "Lost World" making another appearence?
William_H_Macy_ : No. As a matter of fact, T-Rex has been kicked off it's thrown. There is a confrontation between a pteranodon and a T-Rex and the T-Rex gets his a** kicked. There's a new kid on the block.

DishDiva : JoeCool123455 Asks: How was it working with Joe Johnston? Did Steven Spieberg visit the set?
William_H_Macy_ : Steven did visit the set, but he was directing A.I. at the same time, so we only saw him a couple of times. Joe did "Jumanji" and it was a pleasure to have him as a director, he was exquisitely prepared and a delight to hang out with for five months.
DishDiva : jr1 says: Have you seen the film in it's entirety yet?
William_H_Macy_ : No, I have not. I did some looping so I saw pieces of it. I haven't seen the whole thing, and I look forward to that.
DishDiva : SincerestHotie Asks: What kind of reaction did you and others have to the creatures at first?
William_H_Macy_ : It's a long and laborious process working with the animatronics, while the audience is gape-mouthed from them, so are we. The pteranodons could whip it's head at 2Gs. There's one scene a spinosaurus that grabs a seat from a plane in it's teeth and yanks it out. That was sort of scary because that was a dangerous stunt.

DishDiva : I understand The T-Rex fights the Spinosauraus. That must have been wild!
William_H_Macy_ : It was pretty great! They're doing this masterful job of mixing the puppets with computer generated dinosaurs. I've seen some of these fights and the two work wonderfully together. It's the same people back working on these things

DishDiva : JoeCool123455 Asks: Did Sam Neill Give you any advice from his first outing in Jurassic Park? What was it like to work with him?
William_H_Macy_ : He's a joy to work with, consummate professional. Yes, he did give advise. He was reassuring us when looking at a cardboard dinosaur, he was good about saying, just wait until they put in the real one, it will be scary.

DishDiva : Para_girl Asks: What was the hardest thing you had to do while filming?
William_H_Macy_ : For me, it was a shot on a crane. We were at this man-made lake at Universal and I was at the top of a 35 ft. crane in a thunderstorm, while the spinosaurs are attacking the crane. For safety they had me chained to the crane. Before we started shooting, I said "if this crane topples over, I'm going with it..." and they told me "no worries" and the
William_H_Macy_ : crew was there with pliers saying "if that happens, we'll come down and get you." .... yeah!

DishDiva : knightwing2001 Asks: What was it like working in all that rain and water on the set? Especially when the Spinosaurus attacks?
William_H_Macy_ : For some reason, in my career, when I do a movie, I end up soaking wet. I got wet in September, and dried out in January. The rain they used, I think is shipped in from the Artic Circle! It was cold!!

DishDiva : CandyGurl_525 Asks: What kind of movies did you watch as a kid?
William_H_Macy_ : I watched them all. One of my favorites was "Thunder Road" with Robert Mitchum. I remember "Zulu" scared the Bejesus out of me. "I was a Teenage Werewolf" and also "The Exorcist" after that, I think I was 23 before I got a good night's sleep again. (laughs)

DishDiva : kathleen39 Asks: first of all please let me say you are one of my favorite actors! How does this shoot compare to all the others you have done
William_H_Macy_ : It's the most technical movie I've ever been in. Probably the biggest movie I've been in. I did "Air Force One" but I don't think that movie is as big as this one. For me, it was movie to watch these talented men and woman creating this film that no one else could have done. This is what America does better than anyone else. The best of the best,
DishDiva : Banning85 Asks: Is your character likeable?
William_H_Macy_ : I think my character is likeable. He's deceptive at first, but JP III is a rescue mission and with Tea we're out to save our son and he's a likeable character for that.

DishDiva : JNXizor Asks: Have you heard any of Don Davis' score for the film?
William_H_Macy_ : No, I have not. I'm sure it will be lush.

DishDiva : marco_di_beagle Asks: The rumour is, there's a 'secret' cameo at the end of JP3. Any hints, without spoiling the surprise (if it's true)?
William_H_Macy_ : I don't know about the cameo. But I can't wait to see who it is.

DishDiva : spalt2 Asks: Do you think us JP fans will like JP3? There's a big group of us here on the web.
William_H_Macy_ : Yes, I think so. I think a good sign is that Steven Speilberg loves it, and that's got to be hard since he directed the first two. He's a huge fan.

DishDiva : bobm_8 Asks: What do you think about the rumors of a possible Jurassic Park 4?
William_H_Macy_ : I think there will be and I took great pains to drop my wallet on one of those islands, so I have an excuse to go back.

DishDiva : Para_girl Asks: Have you learned anything from making this movie?
William_H_Macy_ : I didn't know as much about dinosaurs as most 10 year olds do, but I do now. The dinosaur that is the star, the spinosaurus is a new dinosaur that was only discovered a few years ago.

DishDiva : >Vjaneway Asks: Are you please with the caractor toy line? I enjoy the dinosaurs but the figures seemed to be less than usual. They were smaller. Do you like them?
William_H_Macy_ : I saw my action hero doll, and it was better looking than me, so it was ok with me. (laughs) I love my "Mystery Men" doll, I have 7.

DishDiva : Is it odd to be an action figure?
William_H_Macy_ : It is odd to be an action figure. I love most that my daughter will play with my action figures. (laughs)

DishDiva : Drunkenwoodenboy Asks: Were you ever injured while working on jp3?
William_H_Macy_ : Not seriously. We all got out without any serious injury. I had the bright idea of doing a flying leap of these bushes only to find out that they were in boxes and it was a full day before I was walking normally again.
This is the last part of the conversation. To see the first part, scroll down to the first conv. I posted, which is followed by the second and this one.
DishDiva : scrollock_1 Asks: where is jp3 set in? Is it back on the same island as the first?
William_H_Macy_ : It turns out there were 3 island and JP III takes place on the island they used to bread the dinosaurs.

DishDiva : TrevourM Asks: Do you fear reptiles at zoos now that you've been scarred for life over animatronics and CGI-based land monsters?
William_H_Macy_ : Well if I ever ran into a velocaraptor in real life, I'd know what to do... RUN.

DishDiva : carpoolmom says: When a film ends, is it all sad leaving everyone?
William_H_Macy_ : It is sad. I think it's bittersweet. On one hand, you're sick of making the film, in all candor, and on the other hand you've formed an alliance with these people and become family. All actors say they will keep in touch and never do.

DishDiva : JPx9 Asks: Rumors have been that JP3 takes place before the second JP film. Can you settle this once and for all?
William_H_Macy_ : No. It definitely does not, we refer to the second film in the third one.

DishDiva : taken688 Asks: Do you die in the movie?
William_H_Macy_ : I make it through. That's another thing.. in most other films I die... I'm wet and dead (Laughs) In this one I'm only wet.

DishDiva : Para_girl Asks: Are you looking forward to the premiere and how the public will react to the movie?
William_H_Macy_ : I'm very much looking forward to the premiere. I'm taking some nieces and nephews to the premiere and get dressed up and walk down the red isle. All I ask is that a few million of you go see the movie at least once.

DishDiva : Mr_Goodbytes_theonly1 Asks: What were the feathers on the Raptors like?
William_H_Macy_ : They looked more like giant bats. A cross between a bat and a pelican and a Buick.

DishDiva : marco_di_beagle Asks: Is it true that we're all going to remember the line "Can't help but be a little offended...", long after the film has finished?
William_H_Macy_ : (laughs!!!!) It's a good line and I got to say it

DishDiva : Emmera Asks: How would you convince a non JP fan to go see the film?
William_H_Macy_ : It's worth the price of admission to see Tea Leoni change her clothes.

    That's It!

According to Puig's article, this carnivorous Spinosaurs is bigger than the T-Rex and "probably a more vicious predator." Checking the Dinosur Database's handy list of stats, the Spinosaur (spine lizard) clocks in at 14 feet (4.3 meters) in height, 40 feet (12.2 meters) in length and weighs 14,000 pounds: "Found in Egypt, Spinosaurus may have been the largest of theropods, larger even than Tyrannosaurus. This evaluation is based on the fact that the vertebrae of Spinosaurus were 20% larger than those of Tyrannosaurus. Spinosaurus certainly would have appeared larger, due to the sail-like fold of skin that 6-foot spines supported. This sail was probably used for thermal regulation, possibly evidence that not all dinosaurs were warm-blooded."

Too small my ass. Rock on Mr. Horner.
