Very true, but in this case we do know that the use of the word "Spinosaurus" is singular.
Its kind of like "Carnotaurus" and "Carnotaur." There's no such thing as a Carnotaur! Arrgh. Damn Disney. You either have a "Carnotaurus" or a pack of "Carnotaurus," but no "Carnotaurs."

Actually, generic and specific names are singular and plural. So, you have one <i>Spinosaurus</i>, and a pack of <i>Spinosaurus</i>.
