Who says a trailer can't be with two movies? I mean, I have expected it with TMR for quite some time, but they can do another movie before that. Hell, I saw the trailer for The Mexican with AT LEAST 3 different movies.

    This is lame, Universal.

Hi all this i s my first post here.. Just singned up today.
Okay lets see here.. Yes universal is dumb for not releasing a tralier and for making all the othe counties wait to see the movie. So since i'm a nice guy i propose a plan of action. Now i have some connections with a group that calls themselves the SMR. The video tpe movies in the theater and release them on the internet while they are still in theaters and the quality is really good. So if nebody wants i would be willing to to make cd's or start a server where all the people who have to wait for the movie to be realeased can see it only a few days after the US realease. what do you guy's and girl's think.. Give mea reply and let me know..

    Cheers,
    Smurf

well today at my marketing lecture at UNI we watched a video advertising a movie and the film in question was the last of the mohicans. One of the MAIN points was not to advertise a film to early as people will forget about it plus it can over hyoe the film if you keep seeing an advert months before th film is out.

All I can say is calm down people the movie is made and it's coming to theaters, we are all just lucky that they have made the movie.

TMR and JP3 are both aiming for similar target audiences.
To put a Jp3 trailer in front of TMR will probably double the amount of money JP3 will make.

Universal know exactly what they're doing.

Man, all this neglect is starting to stack up! JP3 could really take a lesson from the incredible Mr. Burton's POTA. That movie comes out a WEEK AFTER JP3, and already you can't swing a dead oranutan without hitting some POTA hype. It seem's like every day there is some POTA news at Aussie Garth's Dark Horizons, and I honestly can't remember the last time something about JP3 was posted.

I just thought that if u put a trailer ages before the movie release in time people will forget about the movie. But if u put a trailer a month or something before the movie people will remember it and the movie will have good sellings. I also feel sorry 4 all u Australians because everybody should b treated equal and that means releasing JP3 on the same day as America.

Don't think that Universals doing this on purpose, I mean it is the third in a franchise, you can air ads a week in advance and already you have got a movie that is going to do well at the box office. Universal knows this too.
Also you might want to take into consideration that the last Brendan Fraser film i.e Monkey Bone barely made enough money to cover production costs. So obviously Universal is going to want to plug TMR a little bit more just to sway public opinion towards the movie.
Another thing, Australias movie industry is nothing compared to Americas (I am an Aussie and I know it sucks). The entire population of our country can be represented by two of Americas cities. Same goes for the UK. However things are getting better, X-Men was released a day before the US here in Aus. (Granted it was a FOX release).

P.S I think delaying the trailer and the release is doing more good than harm, because I know for one thing, I am now more excited about this movie than I was 2 months ago :).

I'll justrepeat that a little more clearly:

Jurassic Park & The Lost World were both released here in AUSTRALIA only one week after they werein America, thanks to Steven Spielberg. But now with JP3, as much faith as I had in Johnston yesterday, I have absolutely none in him today, because he isn't doing anything about Australia, All him and Larry Franco are worried about is the UK, which is equally as important as Australia. Why do we here have to betreated this way, and this applied to the NZ too. It is aso unfair, and if any of you people from Universal are reading this, I hope you do something damn well to release JP3 here in Australia not long after the US, INSTEAD OF 2 FUCKING MONTHS! All you [Americans] do is whine and complain about a trailer, well we have to wait until September to see the whole damn movie so just look at yourself and see how lucky you actually are. I will be sending a presonal letter explaining these reasons to Universal later this week, and Dan, I hope you do the same to Johnston, and ask why the hell he has to screw around with what was once a good movie series.

Remember, The Lost World opened with $92 million, but that was over five days (Memorial Day weekend). However, it still holds the record for the three day gross: $72 million.

As far as JP3's opening weekend, I'll give you in the 50's and 60's, but anymore would probably be pushing it. The first one had a lot of hype, and it made $55 million it's first weekend. The Lost World however had more hype and the first movie was still in everybody's mind - it made $90 million (!). I here around town from people I talk to, "There's gonna be a Jurassic Park 3?!" Without a trailer, movie novices (everybody who doesn't see sites like this one on the net). C'mon Universal! Build a little hype, or at least let people know the damn things gonna exsist!
PS: The trailer will probably be shown finally at Jurassic Park 3!

I think JPIII will open around $30-$40 million. $100-$110 is just crazy. The biggest movie on an opening weekend was TLW. It made $72 million. I dont think any movie will hit $100 miliion in a long time.

"The Mummy Returns" will open with about $50-$60 million I predict, cuz it is well known, and they make damn good trailers. I can't wait for both: The Mummy Returns, or JP3. I loved The Mummy and both JP movies. Although I would rather see a sequel to The Mummy than another sequel to JP, there will be plenty of room for both. I also believe it's good stratagy on Universal's part to have TWO big releases out in the same summer (even though there's a good 2 1/2 months between the two) - it should earn them a tidy profit. What the hell's taking so long on the trailer? If the people at ShoWest liked it so much they should put it out in theaters as soon as possible (to bad neither Universal or Dreamworks have anything coming out really soon). Or maybe just put it out online? Jeez! I just hope that JP3's trailer is as exciting and visual stunning as The Mummy Returns' was (though I haven't a dought in by mind that it will be). Couldn't be more excited to see both films.
