Jsigna, they are working on the effects for Star wars II in 2001 and they will finish before the end of the year. They need time for printing and other post production stuff.

Dan, network 740 400MHz CPU does not equal to 740x400, there are many issues that degrades this performace. The more CPU you have, the more time you speand on manage them and synchronise them.

And frankly I don't think ILM is chaining all 740 CPUs together, most likely they are devided into several sub nets and then shined at the top level again to form a tree topology.

And to all those of you think 400MHz is slow/ your P3 or P4 is faster think again, the MIPS12000 is a RISC CPU, just to think - the 300MHZ CPU in PS2 (The core is a MIPS 7000) out performed a P3 1GHz...

It will be interesting to see if ILM will use the new GSCube Visualisation Sations from Sony As those machines could mean a lot fast work processing for a CG house...

740 networked 400mHz processors? That's a combined processing power of 296,000 mHz (29.6 terahertz) I don't think your computer is that powerful, sorry. :)
