with Hannibal, the trailer is rated a PG, while the film is an 18 certificate, which is the equivelent of a high end R rating

It's the Trailer on the DVD, nothing else unfortunately. Here's the German equivalent rating site:

ok, can I clear some things up, being a Brit and all...

The JP DVDs were released on October 10th, the same day as in the USA, and both discs carried the crappy 38 sce, no footage trailer.
Over here, both JP films were given a PG rating, which is equivelent to a US PG or PG-13.

However, what IS interesting is the fact that this trailer that was supoosedly rated on Feb 6th should bve given a PG certificate. Trailers here are rated on their own and the footage contained in them, and not the actual final film's rating.

Therefore, if this is the old trailer, I can't see why some flapping palm tree fronds, a few flashes of thunder and lightening, and a familiar Rex roar woould cause it to be given a PG. if anything, this trailer would be a U (G equivelent)

For goodness sake, over here all the Star Wars films are given U cert's, whereas in the US you get a PG cert!

So just to finish, we don't have film trailer's ratings matching those of the final film...

Drakk, yes, I think you are correct. The 38 second trailer they approved looks to be the crappy teaser found on the DVD. I just checked out the JP3 teaser on the DVD and found that it was right around 38 seconds!

JP Animal, it is interesting what you brought up. I don't know why they have both JP3 and JPIII listed, that doesn't make any sense. Especially since both trailers that got approved were 38 seconds in length, meaning that they are probably the same trailer! However, I'm not sure why the trailer was approved AGAIN on Feb. 6th.

Also notice that when you do the search on the British site, that you are looking under VIDEO TRAILERS. Not FILM TRAILERS. JP3 is not listed under FILM TRAILERS.

I went to the British site and I saw it said Jurassic Park 3 was 38 secs long and that it was said On Feb 6, 2001. But then i started to seach and I came along another JPIII thing that said Jurassic Park III instead of Jurassic Park 3 and it said that it was passed in September 2000. I dont get it. Go to the site to check it out for yourself. Go to the search section and remember to select Film trailers box. Could someone please explain it.

the alien movies and terminator actually never showed "graphic" violence that was too bad for kids, mostly it was like no blood and stuff which is actuallly good cause even kids could see that...it just was rated R like for Terminator mostly cause arnald and others were naked for some scenes (aka the entrence of the future people) but you notice theres really no blood in the movies...

I saw Hannibal as well this evening and I couldn't believe Universal didn't put a JP3 trailer before it! I was so disappointed!
I thought FOR SURE that Universal would stick at least a JP3 teaser before Hannibal.
I don't understand it, what the heck are they waiting for? Only five months to go...and no trailer! Somebody needs to kick the Universal Marketing Team in the Goddamn Ass!

...And the 38 second teaser Dan reported on...that's it? Good Lord, if it is only going to be 38 seconds, I don't even want to see it! Hell, they probably won't even show any actual footage (like the DVD teaser)!

Yeah, they also made Alien toys and i'm pretty sure that was rated R.

Jurassiclaw, just because jp3 took longer to film, that doesn't mean it is a longer movie. also, just because it isn't based on a book doesn't mean it has more violence. and jurassic park was rated PG-13, not PG.

At 8:02:00 PM on 2/9/2001, Drakkenfyre said:
Jurassiclaw, the original was PG-13, I just pulled my copy out, (it was the reason McDonalds was scared off of doing a toy line for their Happy Meal, they thought the rating was too high for a kid's toy) and there is almost no way Jurassic Park 3 will be rated anything higher for a couple of reasons, one reason being the kid factor, reguardless if this will be the most action packed, and violent one yet, kids will still want to see it, kids make up a big part of the sales, and if it was rated NC-17, or R, parents would not take their children to see it, and the company knows this is a BIG part of their sales, what is most of the merchandising for the movies?, coloring books, kids books, clothing, toys, stuff like that, and stuff like that would certainly not be made if the movie was rated R, (ok, so toys were made for Terminator 2, you got me there, lol),

Hey, the movie is never rated until a week after it's released, and, as it was wroted : " Jurassic Park III will be the longest, the more- action-packed and the more violent of the Jurassic Park series"

    Proofs :

-Lenght : check filming time-149 days

-Action : It's not based on a book

-Violence : it's the third of the trilogy : JP was P-G / TLW
was PG-13 and JP3 will possibly by 16 and +

TRex2001, the exact words are "This video TRAILER was classified "PG" on 06 February, 2001", that means they just rated the trailer, not that they have rated the movie, and in order to do that, they have to actually see the film first, and as for whether or not it will be PG-13 here or not, with the last two movies being rated PG-13, and this one being described as more action-packed then the last two, that is pretty much a guarantee that it will be rated at least PG-13,

No, no, no... Different countries have different standards and ways of rating movies. Note that that website is BRITISH, that just means that Jurassic Park III will be rated PG, not PG-13, in the English countries, like Britain. It probably will be PG-13 here, which is good.
