"Mar Del Plata", the boat in TLW, means "sea of the silver". It's also the name of a popular fishing city near Buenos Aries, with a population of about 500,000. (From: SeanArcher)

once upon a time there was a princess and she liked to play with her Barbies. . . blah blah blah. . so it looks like JP3's gonna clean house opening weekend.

Consider how much Lost World made, and the reports that would indicate Part 3 having a much more solid and apealing story, and I feel the JP franchise will go out with a blaze of glory, both financially and critically. NOW GIVE US THE TV SERIES DAMMIT!!!

I saw The Grinch and it really is a good movie.

What bonafied classic? Are you talking about the slopfest that is The Grinch? Well it's expected to drop over 50% of its business this weekend from last, so the dip has already started. The only explainable reason it's performing so well is the promotion, Jim Carrey, and the fact it's an X-Mas film.

    HUMPH!!!!

That's from every one in the rest of the world.

Unfortunately we (for some strange reason) get all movies about a month after US releases which means invariably (via the internet) we know every thing that happens well before it is released here.

With the Lost World I had movie clips the complete book of "the making of TLW" from Amazon and the plot down to every detail and mistake BEFORE it was even heavily advertised over here.

So this time I am going to lurk around here until about March then avoid all JP3 information until it is released. Then I shall watch it 2 or 3 times at the cinema then come back and cath up with you guys and girls.

The Grinch was a bit unusual, it made more money this week than it's opening week.
The Grinch could gross over 200 million in just the U.S.
It does look like people are afraid of the JP3 movie.
When TLW came out it hardly had any good competition.

How I pity the fools who thought JP3 would open with like $40 million... even with it opening against Final Fantasy and Rush Hour 2 it still would've done at least a $50 million opening weekend. Now it has a good chance of reaching Episode I's $64 million weekend, and The Lost World's $72 million, while it would be surprising, it would certainly not be impossible. Good news, this is.

This just shows what a power house the JP franchise is...

JP3 now has a bigger and better chance of getting as much money as The Grinch did even though the Grinch did have a lot of competition.
