The Claw looks big in the picture because its close to the camera but i dont think this will be a new dino anyway its not gonna be the spinosurus that had five fingers well i pressume its not the spino anyway the picture is still AWESOME and i cant wait for the film

Depth perception or no, it is still HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The claw! The claw! i am the chosen one...

    At 11:54:47 AM on 11/28/2000, D.Marcos said:
The answer to hwy the hand is so big is riduclously obvious. It is depth perception. If you actually look at the picture, the big claw of the left hand of the animal OVERLAPS Stan Winston's arm. It, therefore, is obviously in front of it. Also, the claw of the right hand, which you can see only a little, is also overlapping Winston's left pants pocket. Okay? Another way to tell: the resolution of Winston and his men in the picture is worse than tht of the hand, meaning that the hand was closer to the camera. It is obvious! It is depth perception!

At 11:05:35 AM on 11/28/2000, TrikeSerabian said:
I don't understand why everyone is talking about dinosaur feet. It is clearly a hand. There is no fourth toe on it. It makes no differance to me though. It is a hand, it is HUGE, and this will be a great movie.

At 4:18:36 AM on 11/28/2000, Utahraptor said:
THe old dew claw. A nd many meat eaters seem to ahve a toe by their heal.. I've seen some that have it by their ankle, just dangling. I doubt it even moves like the other. Bend your thumb towards your index finger's knuckle. That's how their feet looked, mostly.

At 3:02:10 AM on 11/28/2000, GoldblumRules said:
The image resolution was pretty crappy but nothing about that shot tells me that depth perception is the answer. It's a wide angle shot with Stan and the hand standing relatively close together, but it's certainly not the kind of shot that could fool you like that. It's an instinct you develop after framing lots of shots.

At 12:06:50 AM on 11/28/2000, giganotospinotaurus said:
Oh I see what you mean now!

    At 11:30:27 PM on 11/27/2000, D.Marcos said:
Again, let me state tow words: depth perception. I hope that is the consensus on why the hand is so big by now.

    At 10:33:42 PM on 11/27/2000, ih8wasps said:
raptors as well as other theropods did have 4 TOES on each foot, the inner to(homolgous to our big toe) was very reduced in meat-eaters, the inner toe is very, very small, and it just dangles, nowhere near toughing the ground. thats why you dont see it in JP, you werent looking for it.

as a side note, look at a DOG'S front paws, you will see a reduced inner toe on the front paws of dogs.

At 10:26:50 PM on 11/27/2000, Tanystropheus said:
Velociraptor's have 4 claws on each foot..

At 9:29:23 PM on 11/27/2000, giganotospinotaurus said:
How do raptors have four claws on each foot. They have just two regular ones and then that killer one. They only had three in the movies, when you saw it walk by under that counter thing and it tapped it's killer one, in Jp (not LW). Remember?

    At 9:19:54 PM on 11/27/2000, goat_be_gone said:
Is this Jurassic Park 3 or Godzilla! holy that is one large hand!

At 8:15:31 PM on 11/27/2000, Tanystropheus said:
you can't go by a lame toy.. the Raptor's Hasbro made only had 3 claws on each foot.. and Velociraptor's have 4 claws on each foot.. not 3 like Hasbro put on them.

    At 7:53:43 PM on 11/27/2000, D.Marcos said:
Metriacanthosaurus, your Spino toy is not a scientific source! I have seen that toy, and it has no paleontological merit, whatsoever. As far as modern science knows, Spinosaurus aegyptiacus has THREE fingers. Sorry, a plastic toy is not evidence.

    THAT HAND IS SO BIG!
    THE HAND VS. TREX!

    At 3:56:00 PM on 11/27/2000, D.Marcos said:
    Several things:

    1. Spinosaurus aegyptiacus did have three fingers, like Baryonyx walkeri and Suchomimus tenerensis.

    2. It was probably longer than T. rex, but weighed less, was less powerful, and was way more primitive. it had longer vertebrae, as well.

    3. It ate fish. It could not kill T. rex in a battle. Simple and plain, I assure you. No contest.

    4. That hand isn't that big--depth perception, everyone!

    5. How would an animal with a giant unwieldy sail on its back be a good hunter? S. aegyptiacus was a fish eater and scavenger.

    At 1:34:37 PM on 11/27/2000, ih8wasps said:
TO ALL OF YOU THAT ARE WORRIED ABOUT HOW BIG THAT HAND IS AND THINK IT IS TO LARGE:

it is an optical illusion, the hand is not THAT big. if you look you will see that the spinosaurus' hand is CLOSER to the camera than Stan, making stan look smaller and the hand look bigger.

    At 12:07:27 PM on 11/27/2000, Varan101 said:
If you look closely enough on the right side of the picture you can see the end of a claw from the creature's other hand.

    Jesus That claw is huge!!!!

    At 11:03:08 AM on 11/27/2000, Varan101 said:
    Uh......Spinosaurus had three fingers...

Its definitely not a Trex, cuz Trex had two fingers. Raptors didnt had long claws like that, so its no raptor.

I see no artistic license, if you watch the making of Jurassic Park, the Trex robot doesnt look all that realistic. Not until you see the movie does it look realisitic.

Since I think TLW is better than JP, I hope JP3 will be just as good as TLW or better.

PS- Dan maybe you should bump Spielberg's name up on the cast and crew list from the middle to near the top... this brings back memories of how hands-on a producer Lucas was on Empire, Jedi, and the Indy Trilogy. Wonder if he's going to pursue any story credit for this?

At 6:48:18 AM on 11/27/2000, GoldblumRules said:
This is friggin' AWESOME!!!! Man that hand is huge. Paleontologically correct or not it is a frightening object alone and the rest of the dinosaur is going to be maybe the most awesome thing Stan's ever done.

What I'm most impressed and happy about is the very good possibility that Spielberg is a HANDS-ON producer, he's there on the set making some of the fortune he's going to get, his credit isn't name alone. He actually gives a damn about JP3! Spielberg, Horner, and Johnston all in one sitting... man I'm in an overly optimistic mood here, but I definitely think now this will be far better than TLW.

Why does this look like some alien monstocisty? I hope they haven't gone overboard witht he artistic licensing. Oh well, maybe it looks big because it is a closeup. And why do I have an overwhelming urge to throw a ball at it and keep ir for myself? :)

You probably are going to have to wait a long time to get that poster. JP3 won't be released until the summer.

How come just because they say it's a Spinosaurus, it all of the sudden is bigger than the T-Rex and has a big thumb claw. I thought T-Rex was the biggest until Giganotosaurus came along. That has really been bugging me but I am glad it's a spino.

WOW! Spielberg on the set, talking with Johnston and Horner!!! I'm so glad Spielberg is actually on the set, and not completely ignoring the movie, glad he isn't directing. Instead, he's actually there, actually watching the movie unfold, along with Stan Winston, and Jack Horner is supervising it too! Joe Johnston looks like he's really putting effort into this!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR JP3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine of of the characters getting side swiped by that claw! I saw the comercial and was thinking that it might have opened the floodgates on the JP3 commercials. Now that non-Jp freaks know that their will be a new movie they will of course want to see more of it, so I think we will see the trailer soon. !!!!!!!!!!
