If Crichton wrote JP3, Malcolm would move tot he island. Book Malcolm went to the island freely. He wanted to go. Movie MAlcolm sucked after JP. He'd never go back, unless terrorists kidnapped Kelly and took ehr there. Which would amke a better Die Hard movie, anway.

If Crichton wrote Jurassic Park III, there is no doubt Malcolm would be in it, and he'd go back. Like him or not, it's not JP without Malcolm if you ask Crichton.

GoldblumRules I just thought i mention the books because i like them better and i'm just saying if malcolm was in jp3 he still might go there. One last thing "Crichton Rocks!"

Who were you referring to, Dr. Malcolm? If you're referring to me, I am pretty familiar with the fact that the books and movies are very different. Most people on this site probably do. We're all JP freaks here, man!

Ahh, some good views. I may not agree but I have one little detail I like to say:
In the lost world book, Ian Malcolm goes to Site B volantry to prove his new thesis & sarah goes to the island after the team gets there. but as i say thats the book and is completly differnt.
I surgest more jp & tlw fans read the books because they are great and you might be surprised how the books differ from the flim.

I disagree that there is no way Malcolm would return to an island. He was the way he was in LW because of many factors, including the fact people he loved were on the island, and that everyone considered him a nut for four long years. My proposal for how they could have put him in this is, (LW sequel anyway) Malcolm has been vindicated to the public now, he's got his tenure back, most of his kids are probably almost out of high school and not so dependent on him, and he's probably got a girlfriend/ wife now that is not going to just drop in on some island filled with dinos without telling him about it. He could easily be back to his wisecrack ways, and at this point in his life, realizes the experiences he's had with the dinosaurs would be of great benefit to other people. Any good screenwriter could have found a good way to work him in there. But I am interested to see what direction they take with Grant. I hope the rumors are false and he's not some drunk- just imagine if Indy was a drunk in The Last Crusade. Nobody wants that!!!

I agree, although I liked Malcom in JP, I didn't care too much for him in TLW. He was better as the critic and should be left alone. I mean there is no way he will return to any island. But Grant is the hero and bringing him back was perfect. Sattler can bring maybe a emotional moment to the movie, but it is fine not having her on the island.

Nah, I think Malcolm should eat popcorn and watch TV. His adventures on Isla Sorna were a bit too exhausting for him. They should put the light on Alan Grant, who I hope is not a drunk.

Sattler is in it, thats great!
But they should have Malcolm in it.

This movie is going to be better than the first one. I have a feeling about this. The amount of adventure that is going to be in this film is overwhelming. AWESOME!

This is great news. Except I don't like the fact that they seem to be just 'slotting' her character in...

I'd rather her have a much larger role.

I guess this will be liek Hammond in TLW, not a cameo, but a small role,. Also like Ctahy in TLW. Small, but important.

Having them both in the second one will fill in alot of gaps between the Lost World.

Even if Laura isn't more of a main character this time, at least with both Grant and Ellie being in the movie, we can find out why they avoided inciddents in The Lost World. I mean, Hammond could have summonned them as well, but maybe because of the events which will take place in this film, they decline the offer. Either way, we will have answers.

its sounds ok to me, i thought she is having only like 4 scenes with grant. it doesnt mean she had to be in hawaii where all the tropical filming stuff was... or does she

    IMO,
I think when she says she'll have more than a cameo, she means anything more than what Tim & Lex had in TLW. And an emotional talk over dinner seems to suffice. See a cameo just fills in the gaps, where Ellie could very well add background to story. Well at least I hope.

Only thing I'm worried about.. if she has such a large role, why wasn't she filming in Hawaii with the rest of the cast? Was she not in the script at that point? If so, then I worry about the quality of the script, I mean, just to stick a character in at the last second so to speak..

Very, very nice indeed. with Grant and Ellie in it some way or the other, it looks like the production may miss hell after all...
