Does anyone else think that it is quite a coincidence how paralleled JP1 and Jumanji are closely related? Take the characters for example: Alan Grant and Alan Parish, Ellie Satler and Sarah Whittle. They young boy and girl (i.e. Tim and Lex) The story is similar too; these people are batteling animals! And Joe Johnston directed Jumanji and now he is directing JP3! Weird huh?
