If I'm following Lulow right, everybody got paid to keep quiet about the JP incident. Which Malcolm didn't care for (hospital bills and all), because he thought peopel were keeping quiet for "Nefarious " motives, except Tim and lex.
Maybe Grants teaching,a nd has to sue putdated dino info becasue hec na't backup how he knows the truth, hears abotu malcom's problems int laking,a nd goes on a drinking binge to dela with it all. Then as eh recovers, he's called to Isla Nubalr.

Him being an alcoholic would just be stupid.. there'd be nothing interesting about it!

I don't know-I think him being an alcoholic would be interesting if that didn't totally define his character. I mean-Goldblum in independence day..health nut, but he's stumbling around drunk. Added some interest to him. Maybe if they just had a scene where he gets drunk...I don't know. But cheap lecture tour monkey...that'd be stupid. Besides-why would that happen-he kept his mouth shut and Ingen (in the book at least) paid him to stay quiet through grants. Ingen didn't ruin him or anything. And Magazine documenting?..........dumb. What-did he sell his story to the Inquirer or tell his wife and she went with their (if it's a prequel-3 and a half at most year old son) to the island? Besides-the lost world team was already a documentation team. It's all crap anyway.
Yeah-I'm used to him in blue and tan. Well-in the beginning he was in red plaid. Not having a hat would even make him look different.

No one said Grant married Ellie, nor could they have kids in the prequel's timeframe. And as a sequel, how does MIles fit in? and it says kids, but onlky 1 son is on the siland, where's the others? And what documentary? No one kenw about it before TLW ended.
The champaign was for a big celebrtaion, not for the Raptor.
Complete and utter crap on Grant's aprt. paragliding I buy.

Actually Rake, what the person was referring to was a CUT sequence from Alien 3 in which Ripley is in the cryotube, wakes up, and sees an alien trying to get at Hicks and Newt. The nightmare ends with Hicks grinning at her. Pretty bizarre, but I would like to see that, along with the hour of footage they excised from Alien 3. Unfortunately since Alien 3 stunk so bad there isn't enough momentum among fans to get a director's cut on the go. Oh, and JP Animal Control, I was amused by your analysis of an alchoholic. You never know of course, I mean, Hollywood seems to put EVERYTHING on the screen these days.

Alien 3: there are no "flashback" memory scenes in the entire film. He mighta meant Aliens (2), in the beginning when she's in the hospital and a certain something comes bursting outta her chest...

Yep, it sounds like a buncha crap to me.
Plus, I think Universal is too cagey to let major scenes like that just leak out.

Well, Oviraptor, i am trying to get IM screen names so I can add to my Buddy list. I put a message under the message board and only 1 person gave me their screen name, and that was Utahraptor. it's been a few days now, and no one else has given me theres so I just asked for his screen name. I did put this off topic message on the message board but only one person really answered, so this was my last resort. So, I feel i did nothing wrong.

guys get back to the topic... Dan has expressed enough how you shouldn't go off topic and just chat with people.

JPAC yeah thats possible.. it could be Paul Roby that sounds right.. unless they've changed Miles Roby to Miles Grant.. but I still think it's all BULLSHIT!

And what is with Aliens 3 thing? I don't get it.

At 6:26:10 PM on 9/19/2000, JP Animal Control said:
Maybe the drunk isn't Grant. Maybe they got confused with Paul ( william H. Macy). Remember in the Trevor Morgan Interview, morgan said that Miles isn't very close with his father. Maybe he isn't close because his dad is a drunk and is bascilly insane when drunk. but when he gets to the island he has no alchol and then releizes that being sober and being with his son, is better. Tea Leoni could be the wife. And maybe Grant is doing the tour group thing and somehow gets stuck on the island. I don't know why on goods green earth Grant would be a drunk an be married to some one other then Ellie. What do you guys think? Could I be right? JP Animal Control over and out!

At 5:47:24 PM on 9/19/2000, Oviraptor said:
oh yeah and Bud Wieser will be promoting JP3 since Grant is a drunk in the movie..

An alcoholic who has trouble with marrage and the custody of his kids!? Since when did Alan Grant become Ian Malcom?

I'm certainly hoping this story is one of those false plotlines that Universal was roumored to be spraeding, or at least that this story is greatly exagerated. Everything we know about Grant, even from the JP books, seems to suggest the exact opposite from this character.

At 4:47:00 PM on 9/19/2000, Oviraptor said:
Also when Grant was asking Ian if he was married.. it looked like he was planning on marrying Ellie and that he was never married before.. if he was married before.. he would have told Ian that.

yeah Grant is to smart to become a drunk..

Thanks Dan... also, this report doesn't lend much credence to the Laura Dern-cameo rumor. I have trouble visualizing how she could fit even into a cameo scene as just having been his ex girlfriend. And Grant DRINKING? With Malcolm that may have made sense, he lost a lot more on Isla Nublar, i.e. his tenure and dignity, and the dinos freaked him out. Grant however knows that the dinos are just animals, and I'd doubt a scientifically minded man like him would be down in the dumps like that. The end of JP made it open to Grant having kids, yes, but I don't buy that drinking rumor. What we needed in TLW was a character from JP to just jump on the saddle again and go back to the island... I don't want another paranoid, down-on-his-luck scientist warily going back just to save his kids. I want that scientific curiosity back that was in JP, so we can have the wonder back in it.

Grant wouldn't even take a sip of Ian's drink from his flask... in the explorer in JP.

This is all BULLSHIT!!! now I know it is..

Hmm...I don't buy it. Not yet. This doesn't sound like Grant. He's just too serious about dinosaurs to become a cheap fixture on the lecture circuit. And drinking? That doesn't really sound like the Grant we know. Of course, being attacked by angry dinos can damage a person...but still, it just doesn't sound right. Also, where's Ellie? And I was under the impression (judging from the first film) that Grant didn't have any kids. If this scoop is true, his estranged wife must've done him over good to make him hate his own son.

At 4:02:02 PM on 9/19/2000, GoldblumRules said:
If this is true it absolutely can't be a LW prequel. Grant's son is about 13. Still this news sounds totally bogus. Remember that a very similar rumor popped up before TLW came out that Malcolm was having nightmares about dinos attacking cities which is what convinced him to go to Sorna... which turned out to be totally bogus.

I don't by this rumor. I think its bullshit. Grants character as a "heavy drinker", Ellie takes away his kids. Did this guy ever see Jurassic Park?

Really, is this the best they can come up with?? This sounds like the lost world all over again... roar dinosaur chases and eats big group of hunters, weve seen it before and it wasn't too good the first time!, A 100 million dollar film and a 1 dollar idea, sigh, it'll suffice for most people I guess but makes you wish you could write the script for them.
