During filming of JP, the action had to be continually stopped during the 'Rex vs. Jeep' scene so the crew could dry off the skin of the t-rex, which would shake violently when it became wet. (From: 'Dinosaur_neill')

TLW never confirmed the kids cameo. it was almsot definite thye'd be ther,e but in one ort wo scenes, beginnign ro end or both, unknown. If it's not a prequel, Ie xpetc everybody to amke a cameo. IF it's a prequel, I expet Laura Dena nd Jeff Goldblu. Jef fbeing the mystery cameo man from above.

Definately, I mean they have only been filming a week. They probably wouldn't have contacted him yet if he was to have a cameo.

yeah I still think there's a chance for a cameo..

Whether or not that Goldblum comment is true or not, I think that he WILL have a secret surprise cameo in the new movie. It would really be fitting if he appeared making public announcements about the park and nobody believing him.

Grant is better by himself.. like he was in JP.

I find Malcolms charater really bounces of Grants in JP compared to TLW thats why I really would love to see Goldblum back beside Neil.

yeah JP4 could be about Dodgson and Biosyn.. and could be more like the way TLW should have been.. (from the novel.)

Yep, Dodsgon must return. If he isn't in this one, I say we write a petition to Universal for a JP4- the sequel to LW that ties off the series fitfully!!!

I liked malcom in the lost world but they realy did not explain very well why he was so diffrent, if they had explained that then atleast it would of made sense other then looking like oops look like they lost the charecter bio's from the first one!!

One chracter that really needs to return in JP3 is Dodgson.. don't u guys agree?

I think that everything will be alright. We still have Dr.Alan Grant who we all love from the first movie. I believe that Dr.Grant will play such a strong role in JURASSIC PARK 3 that we will not even notice that Ian Malcolm is absent. Sam Neil will definately make up for it. We cannot have the best of both worlds. If it was either Sam Neil or Jeff Goldblum I would pick Sam Neil in a second. He is great!

Sad to see him not in the movie I really liked his role in both movies even though he played such different personallities.

    Three reasons, not two. Oops.

While I still liked Malcolm in TLW, Goldblum's performance in the first one was far superior, and I enjoyed him a lot more in that one. I think he would have been just fine in JP3, in generally the same size of role he had in the first one. And it wouldn't have been hard at all to write his character more like the Malcolm from JP. The reasons he was such a "paranoid nervous wreck" in the second one were pretty good reasons, I mean, he'd lost his dignity, his tenure at Berkley, he had a bad relationship with Kelly and a struggling relationship with Sarah, both of whom were on the island, and everyone thought he was a nut. If JP3 took place a few years after the events of TLW, he would have been redeemed by then, he'd probably be back to being a chaotician/ mathematician hipster, and he'd be all around cool again... even if this were a LW prequel, there could still be a cool cameo where he's in the hospital moaning and groaning, and Sarah could meet him for the first time. Alas, my wishes remain unfulfilled on this end, and no Malcolm for JP3. Perhaps you can all understand why I haven't been too excited about this film lately...

I'll give two reasons for my pessimism: I liked Malcolm the best in the first one(even though I still like Grant very, very much), I wanted this to be the closing chapter in a trilogy, and I wanted some major stuff to happen that would really add to the saga, and end it with Hammond's peaceful funeral and having Grant, Ellie, Malcolm, Tim and Lex all there for the conclusion. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get either now. I've whined enough about it, we'll see how it does, but I am tiring of all the smack I'm getting for my worries, so there they are.

If it is a prequel, then they are probably telling you how each of their lives went after JP, meaning TLW happened to Ian, and whatever happens in JP3 happening to Grant and Satler I think. Shes in it right? Probably.

    Told ya.
If he said he wasn't reprising his role-he's not gonna be in it. No cameo. That would look.....corney anyway. You're RIGHT. Malcolm in the first one was vibrant and had an "excess of personality". But in the next one....he was a paranoid nervous wreck! At least in the LW book-he wanted to go to the island and wasn't all nervous and anxious to leave. In JP it was a new thing with him because he USUALLY plays edgy nevous types or......isn't very animated-he was in JP though. Then in the Lost World....he was back to his normal self. Without the hair or the glasses. The short hair makes his ears look HUGE.

Woo Hoo. No malcolm. OK, so a cameo would ahve bene col. That's it. I hope it doens't make this a prequel, though. I wonder if eh was asked at all? Laura Dern said she wasn't asked back for TLW, but Spielberg went on how he wanted her back (And Grant), but couldn't get them.

You're right Oviraptor. A cameo would be nice though... he'll probably end up with one.

At 1:15:03 AM on 9/7/2000, Embryo said:
Yeah, but it would've been nice to see him after Nublar, in the Costa Rican hospital. And maybe see him selling "wild stories". I'm actually kind if sad he ain't back. I mean he sucked in TLW, but he's a cool actor :)

JP Malcolm was COOL but TLW Malcolm SUCKED! and if he was in JP3 he'd act the same way as TLW Malcolm..

Malcolm is cool, but he wou;dn't make sense in the third movie if it was a prequel to TWL.. he'd already know all about Sorna :P
