The truck Grant gets out of in JP3 belongs to Jack Horner, dinosaur consultant for all three JP movies. A quick shot of the logo on the door reads, "Montana State University Dept. of Paleontology" and "Museum of the Rockies", the name of Horner's museum in Bozeman, MT.

That's why I don't think Malcolm should make ANY appearance in JP3. I think Grant's and Malclom's experiences with the Islands should be totally seperate after Jurassic Park. It's not as COINCIDENTAL that way.

Really-it wouldn't have worked with-out Grant. Actually-in my earlier idea-Grant died. It wouldn't be that bad as long as he doesn't just get run over by a stampede or stepped on by a rex. It could be heroic. Although...I think that might be a little typical. I mean-if it's a prequel-just to say-Grant dies-that's why he's not in the Lost World is not as affective as -he's not dead, he's alive, but we're just focusing on another character now (Malcolm). And people won't be saying " hey I wonder what happened to the other characters" This way they get to see what happens to more than one character involved in the first story and not have them all involved in the same story, but not in the classic cheesy "they just all happened to get involved in this sequel". Each will have their own story SEPERATE from the others'. It'll be more like a spin-off. A movie with Grant's experiences with the park and a movie with Malcolm's. Not just "they HAPPENED to throw together" I think that'll help distinguish it from the classic sequel stariotype.
As for him getting killed-if you read the book-he doesn't strike me as the kind of character that was writen to be killed (heroicly or not heroicly). Something has to happen to him, though. Good or Bad.

Unless JP3 is a sequel, then he can be. Anyway, makes sense. Grant goes, Miles stowsaway ala Arby, gets trapped int eh Raptor Boat's cage, Arby scene done on water, Paul and co go after him. Tangle with the Such/Spino/Baryonyx whatevery.
But if a prequel, how does everybody stay quiet withotu InGen's involvemnet (And if they'r einvolvd, it'll ruin TLW.)

well Ellie wasn't in TLW either.. was she killed also?

    The 5 deaths maybe?

it cant be about some one going to the island officially as that would mean they would have to take vehicles which would be to much like TLW so it must be about some stranded peopl on the island or alan goes there unofficially and is killed at the end (thats why he isnt in TLW[ha ha ha])

I hope it isn't like "Hey dinosaurs are killing people! Call the hunters, oh, and grant while you at it." He need a reason to be there. But don't do the "He has seen these dinosaurs in the eliment he knows how they move and act." Its to.....EVERY OTHER ACTION MOVIE.

At 7:48:32 AM on 9/5/2000, Ed Regis said:
I never heard that. It could mean dinos washed up on the beach or compies killing babies....maybe dinosaus killed fisherman AFTER the incident. I don't think they'd want it to end with the Rex in the city. And Sorna isn't that bad. It was just the last plot that was, but.....show more,....it could be almost the exact same as nublar. Just different buildings and no fences. I think "investigate deaths" is just a red herring or just an understatement of what he's going there for. I think he needs an entirely independent reason for going there. Something despite all he must have heard about it in the news. I think since Grant isn't so opposed to kids now, Grant is probably Miles' mentor and when Grant leaves-somehow he follows him...that'd kinda be a repeat of TLW, though.

when did Sam Neill say it was a prequel? and where?

Well Sam Neill said it's a prequel so I guess that's kinda confirmed, unless he lied because he was under contract.

Or maybe people are dying, and it's not dino related. Like Dodgson is there, killing nay interlopers. Mysterious deaths can mean anything, not just dinos. Maybe human and dinos. Who knows. Or maybe the deaths are elsewhere,a nd Grant goes to check that the dinos are still there.
So, how do Miles and co work into this? Ok, sot he naturalist Simone goes with him, that paleontologist rgaduate student too. Maybe Miles stows away, and Paul and Coper go afetr him with Paul's girlfriend.
Oviraptor, plaase gather your thoughts into one post. It's a bit annoying and weird seeing several posts made by you one after the other.

or could they mean mysterious dinosaus deaths.. maybe DX is killing the dinosaurs or something? but what would Grant know about it? so it's probably not dinosaurs.. but they would worry about them since it's a dinosaur preserve. But I'd still say they mean human deaths..

and this is the only thing I ask you guys.. if you don't think it's a prequel to TLW.. why do they say " investigate reports of mysterious deaths. " when they know that dinosaurs are on the island.. then the deaths wouldn't be mysterious now would they?

At 12:20:02 AM on 9/5/2000, Oviraptor said:
opps make that fishermen.. not man.. and Maybe at first it's mysterious until Hammond tells them there's dinosaurs still surviving there.. but I still think it sounds like a prequel. Cause if it's a sequel hammond wouldn't have to tell them.. they'd already know because of the San Diego incident wouldn't they? it looks like it's a prequel to TLW.

At 12:16:55 AM on 9/5/2000, Oviraptor said:
" investigate reports of mysterious death's. " didn't anyone tell Grant about the dinosaurs on the island.. if so then why are the deaths mysterious.. here's why i think..

JP3 is a prequel.. and the mysterious deaths are the fisherman that they guy in TLW that told Ian and the others about.. and why he wouldn't stay near the shore for to long.. and maybe Hammond has nothing to do with Grant going down.. what do you guys think?

I don't think they'd say mysterious deaths if it's a sequel to TLW.. because they'd know it'd be dinosaurs killing the people wouldn't they? so I say it's a prequel to TLW.
