Just because a dinosaur wasn't discovered before 1993 doesn't mean that the fictional amber didn't have the DNA. Theoretically they could invent a dinosaur and say that it is one that simply hasn't been discovered yet. Though obviously that would discredit the series.

Cool. Not really related, but I just find it interesting how most of the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park movies were virtually unheard of until they were introduced in the movies, and now they are household names.
