I don't know where you're getting your PS2 figures from, but this is how it breaks down:
XBOX: 125mpps RAW
PS2: 75mpps RAW/ an estimated 20-25mpps in-game (15mpps has already been hit, in-game)
GC: An estimated 6-12 in-game, no official raw figures (RL hit 9mpps apparently, even after the late GPU downgrade)
Either way, polygons alone arn't what make a game look good.
And yes the RE1 remake does have the best looking pre-rendered backgrounds I've ever seen. But prerendered in my book, is cheating, and takes away from the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, a beautiful game is a beautiful game, but I'm far more impressed with the likes of MGS2, GT3, or Halo graphically.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I wouldn't touch this game with a ten foot barge pole. Turok for me.
