<I>"T-rex can run 30 miles per hour not 20."</i>

Just because it did in <i>Jurassic</i> ? There are alot of estimates for T-rex speeds. None of them is better than another. Farlow seems to think The Rex wouldn't go over 36 km/h (22.5 MPH) because of the risks with short gurges of 54 km/h (33 MPH). Bakker thinks it could beat a racehorse at 64 km/h (40 MPH), Horner doesn'T give it more than 7 km/h (4 MPH) (I think...), Greg Paul allows it 14-17 m/sec, about 51-61 km/h (31-38 MPH), that not-so-old biomecanical study states no more than 16 km/h (10 MPH) while a new paper has yet to come on why the guy doesn'T think it could go over 40 km/h (25 MPH). Whew! Wanna take a guess ... ? Me neither.

    <i>"T-rex was very light built."</i>

It is bulkier than Allosaurids and Spinosaurids, for example, Allosauridae being the biggest group of large meat-eaters.

<i>"It was twice the size of an elephant but was the same wieght."</i>

Twice ? The average A.Elephant is 11 feet tall at the shoulder while T-rex is 13 at top of the ilium, 14 in running position. As for the weight, it is similar.

    <i>"T-rex definutly wasn't a scavenger."</i>

You don't need to do fifty feet per second to hunt ...

<i>"Its tiny useless arms were an adaptation to have a more powerful jaw."</i>

    WHAT?

<i>"If it had arms like Spinosaur its front body would fall."</i>

Then it'd just have a longer tail to balance it, just like Spino has ...

<i>"As t-rex evolved its arms went smaller and the head grew more powerful."</i>

Almost funny. What tells you spino didn't have a jaw as powerfull as the rex ? As I recall, the bite force of T.Rex is similar to that of an actuall Aligator, and Spinosaurus <i>did</i> have a croc-like skull.

<i>"If t-rex would not have died and continued to evolve it would have lost its arms completly and its head and body would grow more powerful."</i>

Heh heh heh. It also lost it's tail and grew wings. [/sarcasm]

<i>"The shape and power of the jaws are perfect for grabing a living animal and killing it."</i>

Just like all Theropod jaws ...

<i>"The Megalosaurus was the one that runs about 20mph. Though T-rex can too."</i>

    Hun?
    <i>"They're distant relatives."</i>

Megalosaur is more closely related to the Allosauridae, if I'm not mistaken.

I agree and disagree. I really like Spino, though I like Rex more than twice as much. He's by far my fave. Like u said-Rex forever!

P.S.: The Spino I hate is the one that killed Rex supposedly.

Isn't the Spinosaurus itself trying hard to be a crocodile?

Man, I hate the Spino. He is an uninteresting hack. T-Rex forever!

    This isn't new shit.Paul Serano discovered <i>Suchomimus tenerensis</i> in 1998.

    Exactly how recent is JPinstitute?

    This is great news!

P.S.: T-Rex actually could probably run at 32 mph.

I agree with Mallon, there is nothing really "new" on any of this news.

The paper on the running theropod was interesting, but it was not <i>T.rex</i>. This was a Mid-Late Jurassic theropod.

That bit about the "dinosaur trying hard to be a crocodile" was quoted from Sereno back when he found <i>Suchomimus tenerensis</i>.

Methinks the JPInstitute is a bit behind the times

actually the spinosaur relative they are talking about is suchomimus...I first heard about it 3 years or more ago...so it's not really new

Cool. There may be more Spinosaurus type dinosaurs living in Africa. Hopefully more will show up.
