I hate it when something occurs to me only after I post.
Anyway, do you suppose Universal will pack these things in with the Trilogy boxed set? I plan on buying the trilogy and I'd love to have one.

I checked out the web site and I guess the voice recognition seems fairly reliable even if my opinion is based on that one demo I heard. After all, sometimes I need a phone when one isn't nearby but not so much that I need a full fledged cell-phone with monthly fees. And besides, when these things are going to retail for 30 bucks apiece who wouldn't mind getting one for free!!!

Hmmmm... how convenient! I remember reading about this in an issue of Time. I really liked the idea but i hated the voice recognition feature. I mean after all it is hard to wreck a nice beach. I'd have preffereda number pad. Nonetheless very cool.

Ahhh, never mind, it uses voice-recognition for the dialing, when I read the article about them months ago, they still used a regular number pad,

One concern, tho, with it being called a "Survival" phone, and with it having only two call-related visible buttons, I hope this is not just an emergency phone that only dials an emergency number, I want a full-fledged phone,

I read about this a LOOOOONG time ago, the phone is designed to be completely disposable, it uses a special thin membrane inside for the numbers, and once you use up the alloted time, you can recharge it like a calling card, I hope I get one with my Jurassic Park 3 DVD, lol, I would keep using it,

Technically, the phone in JP3 was a satellite phone, not a cell phone. A throw-away cell phone? What's next, throw-away computers and cars?

The last thing I need to hear is some more stupid phone jingles. But, it should help with JP3's DVD sales so I guess it's alright

Well i think it is cool although i probably wouldn't buy one if the price is high. guess my best chance is winning on on my new JP/// dvd.

yes, useful? but could somebody use it for a all timem cell phone? i mean, just keep buying new ones? oh? that's right, you buy one, and it's good for an hour. but can anybody call you?

It's for someone who gets a small short term job, travelers who are cell phone less. It seems very usefull. They would also have tons of advantages, you could phone your house, leave the cell somewhere and have temorary remote microphone. Cool.

i think it's fully recycleable. Otherwise, it'd be pretty lame. Disposable cameras are just the same. I think the advantage of this is for people to have one just in case they need it for an emergency but don't want the full hastle of having a fully-set up cell phone.

I guess this is meant for one of those "Neo" moments. "HE TOOK MY PHONE!" I don't understand the usefulness of this product. It's probably more expensive than a pay phone, to run, and use. And wouldn't a land line make a better connection? "I'll love it when it works. Well it'll work when you love it."

What I really don't get is we are so concerned about pollution, yet we are fascinated by disposable products. It just boggles the mind.

Same point as a throwaway camera, I guess. I dunno, beats me. :)
