I can see why someone would want the widescreen DVD of a movie origanally in the 2.35 : 1 aspect ratio, but JP/// is in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. It's not quite as wide. In my opinion, because you don't lose as much, I would go for the fullscreen JP/// DVD, and not have those bars.
P.S. Whoa! I just saw a JP/// DVD commercial. Looks pretty cool!

Jerm: True, you can see a bit more on the top and bottom in full screen discs, but this is part of the movie image that the director never intended for you to see in the first place.. the parts that are chopped off to fit the full screen ARE parts the director intended for you to see: Most directors shoot the film with the wide-screen movie-theater screen in mind, and this is exactly what you get when you buy a wide-screen DVD.
Eventually, say 10 years or so, all our TV's will be widescreen, so this will be a moot point anyway.

I can try to prove it, but it will only work for people who either have the Jurassic Park fullscreen DVD, or Jurassic Park on VHS and DVD. Watch the JP trailer on the DVD. It's in widescreen. Pinpoint a spot in the movie and try to remember exactly what it looked like in widescreen. Then watch the same point in your fullscreen version of JP. You'll see that you lose a little on the sides, but gain a little on the top and bottom. Did anyone notice this?

That is what many people think, but they are wrong, DVD's come in both widescreen and fullscreen, only a few come in one format only,

Uh... I know this is kind of random, but I would really appreicate it if someone could answer this question for me. Why does everybody like widescreen movies more than fullscreen ones? Isn't it annoying having those black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? I've heard some people say they like widescreen because you get to see more on the sides, but you also get just as much, if not more on the top and bottom with fullscreen. Anyway, I've been debating with myself which version of JP/// to get on DVD and have come to no conclusion.
