The dilophosaurus in JP was actually very small compared to the actual Dilophosaurs. The real ones were about 15-20 ft long and were pretty tall, too. (From: Irusha S.)

Stop it people! I intentionally DID NOT buy the first releases of Jurassic Park and Lost World because I knew, with my fingers crossed, that they would put out an ultimate super dooper ultimate special edition from universal. I have in the past come very close to just buying them, but I knew that if my hopes came true we would get the bundle. I have been reading statements on this site for 10 month's now as a loyal visitor, but reading these bickering comments forced me to register to set yall straight! Love you guys, my fellow jurassicparkians, but bite the bullet!

I am kinda dissapointed with the cover art. I mean, it's cool with the pteranodons and all but I just think that they should of put the TYRANNOSAURUS REX on the cover somewhere. Maybe the T.Rex will be on the other side...

They are not handing out these discs, they are charging $7. They are making money off them. Shelling out seven bucks to Universal is hardly what I would call taking advantage. Denying the disc to some people and making it more difficult to obtain to others means both fewer discs sold and higher expenses in selling them. It's just not good business sense. If Universal demands proof of purchase, it's a very stupid move.

At 4:52:29 PM on 9/30/2001, BigChimpin' said:
Here ya go: suppose someone already owns JP and TLW on VHS, and did not buy the DVDs because of that- Now they buy JP3 for their DVD player and learn that they could get an extra disc if they spent $80 to get the box set w/ all three movies.

So why isn't the Bonus Disk (complete w/ your precious Slip Case) available to people who DON'T own JP and TLW on DVD?

Universal isn't just going to hand out the extra disc to anyone who asks, or people like this would take advantage of them. Someone who doesn't already own JP and TLW on DVD is not entitled to the fourth disc because the offer is only available to someone owning all three films on DVD. If you do not own JP and TLW on DVD, the trillogy box set w/ bonus disc is your opportunity, and Universal Home Video wants you to buy that product in its entirety.

At 3:36:42 PM on 9/30/2001, spoony said:
It's Ms. and I have not forgotten the disc. It's just as silly to want the JP bonus disc without JP as it is with the slipcase. Remember, if they intended to force everyone to buy JP and TLW a second time they would only be selling the boxed set, this offer is only good for people who ALREADY have the movies. Why would anyone buy the movies separately to send in for the extras when they could get it all in one easy purchase?

I mean no offense, I'm just really gunning for this one! ^_^

BTW how can you lose the proofs? The bar codes are part of the cover! Also doesn't it seem odd that to get the slipcase- something that exists only to make your collection look better- you would have to mangle the DVD in said collection? Seems counterproductive, doesn’t it?

At 9:34:17 AM on 9/30/2001, pj said:
oh, and maybe, some people lost the proof of purchase, and buy all new ones. look, i'd rather have less people be able to get it, that means, that i can get the slipcase and extra disc sooner by mail:)

At 9:32:50 AM on 9/30/2001, pj said:
lets' not forget, mr. that you get the "extra dvd and the slipcase" so we're not just talking about the slip case. so ah, they want you to prove to them, that you have the other two, before you get the cool new disc.

At 2:52:47 AM on 9/30/2001, spoony said:
Trust me, because the material in the disc is just recyled from their own archives $7 is plenty. Of course they want you to buy the first two discs, it's just not nessisary to check that you have them because WHAT THE HELL ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO USE THE SLIPCASE FOR?!?!?! The case is built FOR the discs if you don't have them there's no point in getting the case, so why spend money and manpower making sure that people have a nessisary componant for a product that can be manufactered for less than a couple of dollers? No one is going to say, "Gee, I don't like Jurassic Park or the Lost World so normally I wouldn't buy the DVDs, but I sure would like that bonus disc and the slipcase to use as a hat or whatever so I'm going to buy them anyway JUST to send away for the extras" and if there was someone like that they would just buy the boxed trilogy set. The bonus disc is an extra for hardcore fans, not the main attraction. No one in their right mind is going to want the extras without the origional films. Checking on that is costly and pointless. By demanding proof the number of people willing to participate will be reduced to a mere fraction and with the resourses needed to check that proof Universal would be losing mony for every one sold. If Univeral could make people spend $67 on DVDs they don't want just for a slipcase to put them in and a bonus disc about them (material worth at most a buck or two) I'm sure they would. As it stands, however, it's just not logical.

    At 12:59:43 AM on 9/30/2001, sal2 said:
I don't know if $7 is enough to make up a DVD. But at any rate, they just want the most money out of you. So they need proof that you already gave them around $40 for the first two movies, around $20 for JP3 and the extra $7.

It would be preferable for them to have you spend $67 then $27. So they are forcing you to get the first two discs to get more money.

At 11:27:57 PM on 9/29/2001, spoony said:
But my point is, why would anyone want the slipcase if they don't already have JP and TLW? What are they going to use it for, a vase? And how is it unprofitable otherwise? It's just a disk and a piece of cardboard! $7 more than covers it, I doubt any money will be lost if for some reason a person really wants an empty slipcase. If they demand proof, then they'll have to hire people and use equipment to that end and there will be far fewer takers as it requires much more effort on part of the consumer. All for a cheaply made product that's pointless without the first two DVD's in the first place. I could be wrong, they might require proof of purchase, but it would be really stupid and unbeneficial to do so. It’s simple economics.

    At 6:49:12 PM on 9/29/2001, sal2 said:
They want you to send the Proof Of Purchase, because it wouldnt be profitable for them to sale the slipcase and the bonus disc to the people who just bought JP3.

You have to prove to them that you already gave them your money for JP and TLW. It'll kind of be like you bought the trilogy anyway, just in parts.

Sorry. That last post was a little confusing.

At 4:05:13 PM on 9/29/2001, Jerm said:
There are a lot of scenes that they cut out of TLW. I don't know why though. Some were important. Like when Ludlow trips over the baby t-rex and breaks it's leg. If it had not have broken it's leg then Sarah & Nick wouldn't have taken it back to the trailer. If they hadn't have done that, then the rexes wouldn't have pushed it off the cliff. Then there would hardly even be a movie. Thats why they should have included that scene so everyone at least knows why everything happend.

    At 11:46:53 PM on 9/28/2001, mxpx8690 said:
What kind of never before scenes do you think JP will have? Maybe the trike scene with Lex?

At 7:35:10 PM on 9/28/2001, spoony said:
But the product is useless without the other two DVDs. You have to own JP and TLW or else the slipcase just takes up space. So why force people to prove they have them when that's the only reason they would want the slipcase in the first place? That's like having to bring the receipt to the store to prove you own a DVD player before they let you buy any DVD's. It's a given that you own one because otherwise those discs wouldn't be of much use to you.

The Spino sucks ass, and I am in agreement that it should not be on the big box representing all three movies. Petty crap, I know, but still. His movie DID NOT define the series, his movie IS the lowest-grossing of the series. It's just wrong. Maybe Universal has the incorrect idea on what the fans think of spiney. Maybe they don't know that ALMOST EVERYONE likes the Rex better.

    At 1:37:45 AM on 9/28/2001, sal2 said:
It's possible, and probably likely, that the T-Rex will be on the other side of the box.

Just curious, why does everyone assume that you have to prove to Universal that you own JP and TLW? Why wouldn’t they just let people buy the slipcase and the extra disc regardless? For what other reason would people buy it? I'm guessing that Universal will let you buy the case and the disc without any proof of purchase. Otherwise it's just extra work for them and us. It's not like there will be a whole lot of people who want that slipcase without owning the movies to put in it. And if for some reason there are, why should Universal refuse their money? It's just silly for them to demand proof. I don’t think that’s what they’re planning.

Jerm, I think you mis-understood or at least mis-read. And I'd rather have the individual DVD's with defining themes than the JP/// dominated bull-s**t which will undoubtedly span the entire set, including the DVD's themselves. But first I'm waiting to see if there's anything on that 4th disc worth getting. If it's worth it, and Universal have not released some sort of alternate coverings for the Trilogy Box Set, I'm going to get the individual DVD's. But as soon as the JP/// DVD has served its purpose (getting that 4th disc) I'll exchange it for something I actually like, so I'm not pissing away around £20 on something I'll never watch.

At 6:40:24 PM on 9/27/2001, Jerm said:
Carter: I'm not trying to attack you so please don't take it that way, but why don't you just buy the Trilogy box-set and get rid of the box? And even if it the spino is on the DVDs too, just take out the covers.

At 5:48:17 PM on 9/27/2001, pj said:
hhmm, for seven bucks, and the upc's that come with the dvd. the proof of purchase is what you need. the proof of purchase is on the little booklet that lists the names of the chapters. which is cool, you dont' have to ruin the cover with the upc. so, for 7 bucks, you get the fourth disc, and the cool box, with the spino on it that carter hates. so that's a good deal. but you'l probally have to wait a while to get it from the mail.

At 5:23:38 PM on 9/27/2001, Carter said:
Tango; I REALLY cannot stand JP///. To me its little more than a pointless side-story which cashed in on the popularity of the first two, than a true follow-up to its more creditable brethren. The plot, story, death scenes, action set–pieces (due to lack of build-up/suspense/tension/), dialogue and acting were never anything more than mediocre right from the get go (IMO), and even then it degraded to such a degree that towards the end I began debating whether or not to leave before the so called finale. The movie added nothing to the series and contradicted TLW in so many ways its not even funny. Yet despite this, I WAS willing to buy it as part of the inevitable trilogy box set, because I just KNEW there would some great new footage from either JP or TLW involved. But now that I see that awful JP/// design all over the front of the Trilogy Box Set (and probably on the DVD cases themselves much like the JP/TLW VHS collectors duo), with that PATHETIC Spinosaur taking the place of Rexy, the TRUE star of the series, I’m SERIOUSLY disappointed. JP/// took away my faith for the continuation of the saga, and so I REFUSE to buy this box-set, because as you can see, it has the signature of the movie that killed the series for me PLASTERED all over it. Now don’t attack me for this, as it is just my opinion, and if any of you knew just how much I HATE that film, you wouldn’t utter a single word. Not to worrys though, I’ll just buy JP and TLW (the TRUE JP movies) separately, and wait and see if this “new footage” is worth throwing away £20 on a JP/// DVD (throwing away in the sense that its doubtful I’ll ever watch it). But hopefully, after I’ve got that fourth disk, I’ll be able to swap it for something thats actually good.

XxMoJoJoJonxX: You have to cut out the proof of purchase on the original Jurassic Park DVDs. When you buy JP3 there is an order form inside for the 4th disc and the slip cover, but you can only get them by sending the proof of purchase for JP1 & JP2. In other words, you must already own Jurassic Park & The Lost World DVDs in order to get the bonus stuff.

Sorry. I don't know the answer to your other question. But I hope it is only one disc. Its such a pain to have to keep changing the disc in your DVD player.
