would some please tell these things:
    1) WHy the hell did we get bombed? Maybe I'm still in denial, but I can't believ something like this could happen to us after all these years. I hope God's will will be done for those involved.
    2) Is there gonna be a JP3 VHS and when the heck is it coming out? Some people are DVD deficient for financial reasons i.e. college you know.

Please respond to this post or email me at akivon@hotmail.com or aki_h_08 @yahoo.com with the details of either of my questions.

According to amazon, the other dvds were presented in 1.85:1 ratio as well ... maybe thats why JP3 will be in that format, for consistency. Who knows.

$27?, damn, that is a bit high, the Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park: The Lost World DVD's were only $17.96, and no deleted scenes?, that sucks, that is the one thing that bugs me about Joe Johnston, his apparent hatred for deleted scenes,

So.... is that the same ratio as the first two? So they'll all match?

    At 2:04:01 AM on 9/11/2001, bw_dave said:
Porter - I know very little about it, but in the absence of any other replies yet, I'll tell you what I do know about the ratios.

2.35:1 means that the width of the screen is 2.35 times the height of it ... the same principle goes for the other ratios (1.85:1, 16:9, 4:3).

Hence the higher the ratio, the wider the screen presentation (and the more black framing area on non-widescreen TVs!). 4:3 is TV ratio as far as I know, which equates to pan and scan.

The original ratio that a movie is shot in is a decision that the director makes, but I think most are shot in 2.35:1 these days.

    1) I'd still love to see that actual animatronic fight between the Rex and Spino where the Rex lost his head, that'd be a great supplementary.
    2) Joe does a commentary? Ok, I'm gettin it!
    3) Can someone explain to me the whole aspect ratio thing? Like what exactly are 1:85:1 and 2:35:1? What were the first two when they were presented on DVD? Is it the same?

    At 11:38:22 PM on 9/10/2001, bw_dave said:
Hey Vinsfeld - great to hear from you again. You're the coolest!

m_pilip: As for it being cropped, I doubt that they would crop it from the original. I'm pretty ignorant about movie technical stuff, but I reckon that it was probably filmed in 1.85:1 and we got the top/bottom cropped off at the cinema.

Thats only a guess, since I remember seeing something on the T2 dvd which talked about this method. I know that Star Wars EpII is being filmed in 16:9 and having the top/bottom cropped for cinemas as well.

I could be completely wrong, but I can't see why else they'd give it this format on the dvd.

I'm sure Vinsfeld, who is the most clever person I have ever met, will be able to clarify.

The one disc had Dolby 5.1 AND DTS 5.1!! Cool! But I thought the movie was in "Surround EX" 7.1... Oh well. The quality of the movie should be great becvause it is the first JP movie to be released in digital theatres so the quality should be excellent. Thank you JOE JOHNSTON for doing a commentary. That makes the movie 90 minutes longer in itself!!! YOU ROCK UNIVERSAL!!!

It does sound REALLY cool. Come on, a commentary with Johnston?! (beat that, spielberg!), though I have to say I wish they had more T-Rex spino stuff. Like them spending time staring at each other before attacking. the whole scene was just too short overall. yet, this DVD rcosk!!!
