TLW star Richard Schiff (Eddie) originally disliked acting, suffering from stage fright. He would direct several off-Broadway plays before trying to land an acting role.

    "Israeli–Palestinian conflict "
On 7/16/2012 at 12:56:30 AM, Master Yoda started the thread:
    Forgive me if this is incorrect and correct me if I am wrong but the majority of issues in this conflict are;

Issue with Jerusalem. Both claim rights over it.

Status of Palestinian refugees from the 1948 war.

Palestinians claim they are entitled to all of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem.

    Israel's right to exist.

My question is, has there been a solution theory that basically intergrates the entire disputed territory as a single state consisting of just Palestinians and Israelis with a governent ruled by both parties? Or is it virtually impossible because they hate each other so much?

The Palestinians will never accept an Israeli state. That's the real issue. The Israelis can give as much land back as they want, freeze settlements, even give back Jerusalem but given the propaganda and fervor of the governing authorities on the Palestinian sides, bolstered by Iranian and other state funding, it will never be enough. They don't see any foot of land being acceptable as land for the Jews. If you actually had Israel disarm itself and open things up, there'd be open warfare in the streets. The Israelis won't cut their own throats as a country in the name of peace, even though they've been willing to lop off their own fingers and toes. That's just my take.

I spoke with some Israelis way back when I was in the Middle East. This is what one of them said to me:

"If it wasn't for your news cameras constantly pointed at us, we would take care of our Palestinian problem like you took care of your Indian problem."

I know a lad from Jordan who said the Palestinians were sort of ok with the Israel state... but they wanted more land and that's what kicked it all off.

Why did they decide to create a Jewish state there anyway? Weren't there initial plans to have it in Africa or South America? I know it's there holy land but then again it's almost everyone's.

There was a lot of pre-Holocaust propaganda by the German government saying the Jews should all go to somewhere in Africa I believe but it wasn't a real idea.

Msg #5: On 7/21/2012 at 8:55:14 PM, Siir replied, saying:
I don't exactly know what possessed people to think that giving the land over to the Jews who had not had any kind of political claim there for such a huge amount of time was going to go over well.

There are many minorities (incorporated into larger states) today that at one time held independent states that they would have stronger claims to. But even those probably wouldn't go over too well if their states were forcibly restored.

Put back on the map: Crimea, Tibet, Navarre, Brittany, any various Indian states, give Inner Mongolia to Mongolia, give a homeland to the Ainu, see what happens.

The Jews of course have a right to defend themselves and by no means should stand idle when faced by Muslim aggression, but I still don't know what kind of idiot couldn't have saw that issue arising when they decided to partition the land.

They've tried that already. The Palestinians responded with mortars and suicide bombings. The only way to make them happy is to initiate another Jewish holocaust.
