Honestly, I'm sort of with Spino on this one. When was the last time there was a truly great Jurassic Park film? 1997 (IMO, anyway). Sure, you can make the argument that this is what they did with Indy 4 and Duke Nukem Forever, but were those truly worth teh wait? We haven’t met, but I have a big favor to ask. I’m a lifelong fan of yours, since ET came out when I was 3. Far be it from me to impose, but this is a matter I cannot entrust with any other director. Please make Jurassic Park 4. Make it for me, make it for the children, make it for selfish money reasons: I don’t care. Just make that movie.
Let’s face it, neither of us is getting any younger. Jurassic Park is fantastic, but how long has it been? Almost twenty years? Way too long. Not to be rude, but The Lost World was kind of phoning it in, and JP3 wasn’t even directed by you. The world needs another Jurassic Park movie, and we need it from you.
Jurassic Park is far and away the best dinosaur movie ever made. I know because I’ve seen a lot of dinosaur movies. They range from terrible to pretty bad to campy. People think they can slap some dinosaurs into a movie and sell tickets. They don’t care about dinosaurs like you and I do.
You took a great story (possibly Michael Crichton‘s best work) and used the most advanced technology available to bring those dinosaurs to life. Not only that, you crammed that movie with dinosaur in-jokes and little homages to the people who spent their lives researching dinosaurs. Jurassic Park has layers. It does not, however, need to be your final word on the subject. There is plenty more to explore.
I know you’re busy so I’ll end this letter with my humble suggestions and be off. Get Tom Hanks and Cate Blanchett, hire a screenwriter who actually cares about dinosaurs, and get your pal George Lucas to make the visual effects. You can shoot it quickly between Academy Award movies if you want, I don’t care. Just make it so I can go out and see it, please.

Unless you are truly passionate about making the movie, don't make it. Jurassic Park has enough of a cash grab reputation as is, so let's not worsen it.

No, what you should be saying is "Get ILM back for the visual effects, but don't leave Stan Winston Studios out either." I don't want that asshole Lucas within three towns of any creative control of Jurassic Park.
The only reason why a JP4 should be made is if it brings a final closure to the series. Make it a little more political even. Have the US & Costa Rican Government vote on whether the island should stay under the protection of the two governments at the cost of the tax payers or if it should be destroyed. With the economy the way that it is, it would make sense that ridding themselves of an island full of dinosaurs that aren't really doing anything good, bad or indifferent would soften the American people's wallet a bit. Upon hearing this voting idea, a group of animal rights groups (I know it sounds a bit like The Lost World, but still) go in to stream videos of the animals, even the dangerous carnivores, being animals, not the monsters that people think they are. Sure, they lose a couple of people on the way, but that's just the nature of the animals. In the end, their efforts are quite for not and the island is bombed anyway, taking the animal rights group and all the dinosaurs with it. The End. There's no guarantee that it'd be any good, but that's the only plot I could really come up with that would bring closure to the series. However, considering what has been discussed in the past few years, that particular plot isn't likely to happen.
Folks, Jurassic Park's time has come and gone, and another movie(s) won't bring it back. Let's be appreciative for the amount of merchandise and entertainment we got out of something that was intended to be a one shot deal and just leave it alone.

Regarding the technology, one of the things that make Jurassic Park, the original, such an amazing film is the way the prosthetics are mixed in. It feels real. Even though it was made in the early nineties. As a producer, do you still want to have that prosthetic feel or do you think it’s going to be reliant entirely on technology?
MARSHALL: No. I think, not only does it feel real, it helps the actors to actually have a half of a leg there that they have to look at, or something that scares them actually jumps into the frame. Rather than just saying, “Something just jumped into the frame, be scared.” That’s mainly what it was. At first we were going to do all prosthetic, or model dinosaurs. It was too expensive, and also you couldn’t build these. It just wouldn’t work. But, if you put a foot in, or a tail or something, I think we have to do that. I think that’s what makes it work.
I imagine Universal envisions this as a big summer tent pole movie. Are you guys aiming for summer or Christmas?
MARSHALL: No, I think we’re aiming for summer. It’s a summer movie, popcorn movie.
My last question, I want to go back to Jurassic. Did Spielberg come up with the idea for this sequel or was it someone else?
MARSHALL: That, I don’t know to be honest. I came into it late, Kathy had to go up North, and so I came on the project.

And JP4 is a good idea if done right, and I think that given the amount of time it is taking to get it made, Universal is being sure not to make another one unless they have a story worth telling. If it never happens, so be it, as I'd rather the franchise rest with what dignity it has left than tarnish it with further diminishing sequels, but if they can get a quality script to at least top TLW and JP3, I'll be satisfied, and bitch all you want but you know damn well you'll be there on day 1 (and 2 and 3) seeing it, too.
Personally, I would like to see one final movie to conclude the series properly, perhaps having the film conclude with all the dinosaurs finally being destroyed, clearly showing both Isla Nublar and Sorna being destroyed so there isn't a shadow of a doubt that they are gone, returning nature to normal and eliminating even the potential for further films. JP and TLW both ended in ways that could have been fitting conclusions to the franchise (much like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), but JP3 (and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) left things on such a sour note that it just has to be properly concluded.

I'm not saying that I won't see JP4 period (so long as it doesn't do that stupid space or weaponized dinosaur angle, which I find unlikely that they will), I'm just saying that I have little to no hope that it'd be any good, so much to the point that I'm wondering if Universal should even bother. Is the movie going to be handled respectively the way the first two were? It'd be nice, but probably not, and I hope that the rest of you guys on this board (other than Doni JP) aren't getting your hopes too high up. Yeah, I'll see it at least once just to give it a shot, but I'm not expecting much, if anything.
I do however agree that JP4 needs to be the last one. Preferably not just the last one of this continuity line, but the last one period. Pretty sure I pitched an idea for that earlier in this thread.

But as I have said before, there is literally no downside to making a fourth film. If it is good, then we will finally have a fitting conclusion to the series. If it sucks, then we can just ignore it and continue to enjoy the good ones. The existence of JP3 did not tarnish our enjoyment of the first film, and there is no reason to assume JP4 would either. There is just, quite simply, nothing for anybody to lose except for Universal, so it is in their best interest to make it good if and when ey do it.
