"Mar Del Plata", the boat in TLW, means "sea of the silver". It's also the name of a popular fishing city near Buenos Aries, with a population of about 500,000. (From: SeanArcher)

"I'm less than a week from my 28th birthday"
On 6/19/2016 at 3:15:47 AM, Colin started the thread:
...And I've been coming to this site since I was 12 years old.

I've lived in twelve apartments/houses in that time.

I've made and fallen out of touch with many, many friends in real life. And yet I've never met any of you in person... Perhaps one day still.

I once posted comics here of Gubaflunk, a monster I created that commented on threads. I also posted a series of comics in which a blue tube thing attacked me, then went down my throat and emerged from my anus.

I was there for the UFX/Dan's war. To this day, I have no idea what incited such a hilarious incident. (Seriously, guys. It's a website where we geek out about movies. Chill.)

My first fan fiction I wrote here was called Demented Dinosaurs in which scientists took the dinosaurs on the island and spliced their genes to create hybrid dinosaurs. That's right. I came up with Jurassic World before I'd even seen Jurassic Park III. So if you thought when leaving JW, "That movie sucked! A twelve-year old could have written that script," you were right.

I dreamed (and spoke of those dreams) of being in the film industry and now I work with the screenwriter of Gladiator and Skyfall in Los Angeles.

Man... Life is fucking weird. I'm glad you guys were here when you were here.

What about you? What are your Dan's memories and how has your life transformed since you began visiting this page?

I remember meeting Dac when his rugby team travelled to Canada and played at my high school. Lost the picture of that unfortunately, but that was neat

    We're pathetic.

Started visiting here around Christmas 1996, shortly after I got a computer and after I'd been hanging around the official TLW message boards for a while. I became a heavy TLW-Chat user for many years until I took something of a hiatus from around 1999-2002 or so. This year marks the 20th anniversary of contact with this page and its people, and as I'm turning 34 next month, the majority of my life has happened after coming into contact with Dan Finkelstein and his magical website.

Here is a picture of me and Rez enjoying boba tea together in California last month:

Holy shit, that's big. Sorry, not resizing - the world needs to see this.

I'll be 31 in a few weeks and I've been coming here for about half that. I remember stumbling across TLW page before JP3 came out, but I never posted there. I remember being here in the wake of 9/11. This has been a weirdly comforting constant, even if I don't always post.

27 and a half now. Been here since 2001. There used to be times I would post in random threads purely so every thread on the front page had my name on it. Damn, but I was a petulant little shit sometimes.

Ah, who am I kidding "was"?

I'll also be turning 28 in just a couple of weeks! I started coming here in April 2001, and I'm still lurking around. My laptop was broken for a few months there, but now I'm back. I'm glad this thread is here, it's good to see all the familiar faces :)

I turned 31 in March this year and I started posting here in 2002...Holy shit!

I regret not posting in the last few years...In fact the last post that I did was in 2014 to apologise on behalf of all Australians for voting in our (then) shitty Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Now look at the world. America I feel you need to give the same apology :P

It's a weird thing to say out loud. And though this is completely unsurprising, nothing really feels that different with exception to the fact that I have a sudden, much stronger urge to have a wife and children.

I'm about three months from 31. If anyone actually remembers me, I figure I should come clean that I lied about my age when I was here regularly as a teenager. In retrospect, it was pretty stupid. Pretty sure I also claimed to have a girlfriend I didn't.
