A few people asked about the release of JP2 on video -- so far, the unofficial word is that the video, laser disc, and DVD versions will be released some time in November, maybe on the 14th.

Malcolm144 reports that Kenner released a new Ian Malcolm figure with a different head (his hair-style looks more like it does in JP2). Be on the lookout for the "old head" (that sounded strange), cause it might be worth more!

JP2 will be released in Israel on Friday, June 18th. (thanks to Yuvik).

After my comment yesterday about people not being able to find the Topps Trading Cards, a few people wrote in to say that they found the packs at their local Target or comic book store, as well as large boxes of them at Toys 'R Us and "warehouse stores" like Sam's or Cosco (although my local BJ's does not carry them).

A little info on the Topps trading cards: The set contains 72 cards and 11 stickers. The set starts out 1-56 with the movie's story, 57-43 are the dinorama showcase, 44-48 are behind the scenes, and 49-71 is the dinosaur gallery, # 72 is the checklist. The single packs cost about $0.99, while the box costs about 20 bucks. (thanks to Scott Smith and Rwingsweep)

I added another JP2 review to the section (better late than never), thanks to Adam.

Look for a preview of next Memorial day's big flick, Godzilla, before today's opening of Men In Black, according to Compy.

Chris' (the guy who's made many JP2 video clips) new webpage is complete, with areas on Trek IX, Alien, Trek VIII, and, of course, The Lost World. Check it out here.

John Woo's new movie "Face/Off" (which was very good, I might add), took the first spot at the box office this weekend, edging out Disney's "Hercules". JP2 dropped two spots in its fourth week of release, down to 6th place.

The new issue of Cinefex Magazine, with a very long article on the special effects in The Lost World, is now on newsstands, according to Wiserman, which features a few new pictures of the San Diego scene.

Talking about magazines, Scott Smith reports that in the new issue of Earth Magazine there is an article entitled "The Lost World vs. Real World dinosaurs", which discusses the various views of paleontologists.

According to Electronic Gaming Monthly, there will be a San Diego level in the Lost World game for the Playstation, and you will also be able to become Sarah Harding at some point in the game. (thanks to Krunker418)

The second in the JP2 comic adaption should be out now, with a scene that never made it into the final cut of the movie. (thanks to Krunker418)

The JP2 trading cards that no one has really been able to find have been spotted at Blockbuster Video, according to Babi30930.

A strange new JP2 Kenner action figure, which is not in any of the catalogs, has been spotted: It's supposedly a re-painted version of the JP series "Junior Rex", which comes with a special "dino-tracker figure". (thanks to Chris Baker)

According to Parade Magazine, Universal's new "Islands of Adventure" theme park will allow visitors to "travel on a Pteranodon glider and confront an animatronic T-rex." The JP ride will reportedly be similar to the water-ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. (thanks to Chris Maier)

If you live anywhere near Myrtle Beach, S.C., look for the Baby T-Rex Giga-Pet in a store named "Marvelous Magnets". (they're $17.99). (thanks to Matt)

Check out this pic from the Sony Playstaion JP2 game, from Videogamespot. (thanks to MULCYBER):

Last week's Poll Results: Ian Malcolm blew away the competition in last week's poll, which asked "Who is your favorite character in JP2?", with more than 38% of the vote. Nick Van Owen came in second, with 19% of the vote, while hunter Roland Tenbo came in third with 15%. Unfortunately, Benjamin ("There's a dinosaur in our backyard"), my personal favorite character, only garnered 4 votes.

This Week's Poll: didn't like the San Diego sequence at the end of JP2? Vote for the scene you think should have been the finale. Vote Here. (poll idea from Jon Ziet)

Want even more behind-the-scenes info on JP2? Check out the excellent book, "The Making of The Lost World", by Jody Duncan. It contains dozens of color photos, and descriptions of every aspect of the pre-production/production/ and post-production phases of the movie. (Looking for other JP2 merchandise? The Lost World has recently surpassed the $200 million box office mark, garnering a whopping $204.9 million dollars in 32 days. (thanks to Pete Miller)

Tiger Electronics's new portable gaming system, Game.com (yes, it's name really is Game.com) will have a Lost World game for the new platform, which will feature "realistic sounds and graphics" (albeit in black and white). The Game.com system, obviously produced to compete with Nintendo's Game Boy, is more than a game system, but will also feature a built-in organizer functions, a touch screen, and even Internet/E-mail access (with optional modem cartridge). Here is a screenshot from the JP2 game:

And while we're talking about Tiger Electronics, my quest to find the "Baby T-Rex Giga-Pet" has not been very fruitful. Every store I've been to is sold-out of it, as well as the other Giga-Pets, not to mention the original "Virtual Pet", Bandai's "Tamagotchi". These things are more popular than snap-bracelets....

According to Krunker418 and Malcolm144, Kenner has recently re-issued the Nick Van Owen and Roland Tembo to make them look a little bit more like their actor's likeness's. This probably means that if you have the original, they'll be worth more!

Here's a pic of the Raptor Beach Towel (mentioned yesterday), which is sure to be a babe-magnet at the beach this summer: (thanks to B-Man)

Some JP2 merchandise has been spotted by Brandon Chapin: First, from Spencer Gifts, two JP2 holograms feature a T-rex and Raptor, and cost about 20 bucks. Also at Spencers, they sell "authentic framed movie scenes", as well as some large metal signs which state "T-Rex Xing". In the Suncoast Motion Picture Store, you can get some "framed artwork" on some of JP2's dinosaurs.

On the subject of JP2 merchandise, be on the look out for some Lost World Costumes, also spotted at Spencer Gifts. While a little early for Halloween, kids will have a ball dressing up like a T-rex or one of Ludlow's Hunters. (thanks to Curtis Bouquet)

Dragoncon '97, a very large comic, sci-fi, and movie convention, is going on right now in Atlanta. If you're interested in the latest news from the convention, be sure to check out Steve's DragonCon Updates Page.

Batman and Robin (which I heard sucked) came in first at the box office this weekend, with "My Best Friend's Wedding", coming in second. JP2 fell a notch to fourth, although beating out last week's number one movie, Speed 2: (thanks to Elhiu Dominguez) That makes the total box office gross for the Lost World $199 million, putting the coveted 200 million dollar mark in easy reach.

There was a rumor awhile back about a fourth major JP2 video game (besides the ones alredy in the works for the Playstaion, Saturn, PC, and Sega Platforms). Well, Next Gen Online has finally confirmed that rumor, with the new strategy title being called "Chaos Island", a JP2 game specificially aimed at kids, being produced by Dreamworks Interactive. According to the article, the game will feature the voices of Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough, as players "control good scientists and the dinosaurs that they have allied themselves with." (while the article doesn't say, I bet this is a PC game). Here is a screen-shot from the upcoming game (more are avialble here): [Thanks to Nick Dakoulas]

The Lost World Sega Pinball Game has been spotted in arcades by Russell Raymond. The game has a "a 3-D top with the T-Rex chasing Ian & Sara in San fransico [it also features] a baby dino egg that opens."

More JP2 Merchandise: Some JP2 Bath Towels (one features a T-rex while the other has a Raptor) can be found at Wal-Mart, according to "LizardClaw".

According to Paul Daza, JP2 will open in Manila on July 30th.

Here's a better picture of the Burger King watches, from the Buger King Webpage. (thanks to Babi30930)

Here are two more very large JP2 images which are perfect for your Windows wallpaper (thanks to Don Mousseau)
