According to a Reuters Entertainment Summary yesterday, The Lost World is predicted to not only be a blockbuster this summer, but also will be the 'cheapest' (under budget) movie among other mega-flicks. (thanks to Max Szoc)

Also, Max Szoc wanted to remind everyone that the Official Lost World Webpage is scheduled to be updated this weekend.

Here's the cover of this month's Tuff Stuff Collect, a popular collectors magazine:

A few important LW people will start "making the talk show rounds", with Jeff Goldblum scheduled to appear on Late Night with David Letterman sometime this week (according to Rick Granston), and Steven Spielberg appearing on The Today Show on Tuesday, May 6th. (according to "Leon")

Gibson Greeting, Inc. announced yesterday that they would produce a large line of JP2 products, including "a number of new product formats including a 3-D gift box, collectible cardboard dinosaurs, 3-D pop-out wall art and tattoos. Traditional best sellers such as stickers, postcards, note cards with envelopes, magnets, gift wrap and, of course, greeting cards are also featured. " (thanks to Max Szoc)

Kyle reports that the new issue of Fangoria Magazine is now out on news-stands, which includes an article on JP2.

I added and/or replaced about 4 or 5 pics from the LW Scrapbook, and also moved all of them to their own page--check them out in the Media Gallery.

My friend Sean (of The Fifth Element - IT MU5T BE FOUND), has agreed to mirror the 15-second trailer here, for anyone who's having trouble getting it from the first server.

Last day to vote!

Well, you didn't have to wait very long for the new 15 second LW trailer--Chris was generous enough to convert the new trailer into a .MOV, and host it on his site! Download it here! (2.9mb). Here are two new pics:

Beau sent along the audio track to the new 30 second trailer--here (Real Audio required--if it's breaking up, download it here).

The May 97 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine which just hit news-stands, has interviews with Stan Winston, Jeff Goldblum, and Vanessa Lee Chester. Some excerpts: (thanks to Jerry GlonekM)

Susan adds that the article also has a few pictures: One is Malcolm, Harding and someone else standing around Kelly, and Malcolm and Kelly in a trailor.

Talking about magazine articles, Sci-Fi Magazine's cover story this month in on The Lost World. Inside, you can find an interview with Jeff Goldblum, info on the making of the dinosaurs, and pics from the film. Look for it on news-stands now. (thanks to Ed Hall)

If that's not enough magazines for you, the new Disney Adventures with the JP2 article just hit the stands. What's kinda funny is that it had the same basic interview that "Nickelodian Magazine" had above. There's also a contest where you can enter to win a model Raptor used in the movie. To enter, hand write your full name and address, and daytime phone number with area code on a 3x5 inch card and mail it to the following address by June 9th. (thanks to Rory)

More merchandise news from Scott Smith: Cinnamon Toast Crunch has a "Special Jurassic Park Edition" out now, which has footprint shapes. Also, a "collectors edition" of Jurassic Park Crunch has been spotted, which has a metallic-like box.

"Defiant1313" spotted a "3-D" Lost World Game in Target.. It is most likely the "JP2 Battling Raptors Game" by Parker Brothers. While I'm talking about JP2 boardgames, look for a "JP2 Card Game", also by Parker Brothers.

"PlanetMe" was lucky enough to receive a free stuffed Raptor and Steogsaur when he bought the Jurassic Park Crunch at his local Giant Foods (Motto: Our savings are HUGE!)

It looks like the report of the JP2 trailer having the new theme music looks to be incorrect, as Mike got word from Universal that "no theme music would be released until the May 20th", the day the LW soundtrack goes on sale.

I just got the Lost World Posterbook (order it!), and will scan in some pics tomorrow. Unfortuantly, the teacher with the Snappy wasn't in today, so I couldn't get pics from the new trailer...tomorrow, hopefully!

Another LW trailer was seen during "The Shining" on ABC and "The River Wild" on NBC last night. This new trailer reportedly had the new JP2 theme music. Other info: Thanks to Mike Cap, Wiserman, among others who alerted me to the new trailer... If anyone sees the trailer, and can make pictures or a .MOV of it, please send it to me!

Scott Smith spotted a Lost World Hand-held game at Target called "Last Flight" (presumably made by Tiger) . In the game, you're a person person flying in a plane, and shooting at dinosaurs and bad-guys.

At a Cobb Theater near him, "ShadowEye" noticed that they were giving away a special JP2 collectable cup.

Adam Rose reports that they are selling JP2 toys at Target. Stores selling them: Toys 'R' Us, Kaybee, Walmart, K-Mart, and Target.

For all you Spanish-speaking Lost World fans, the Unofficial Spanish LW page is now open.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the pictures from the MTV trailer (see yesterday and the day before's news), but I will get them tomorrow if my teacher remembers to bring in his Snappy.

Well, after recording MTV for about 6 hours, I had a total of 15 Spice Girls videos, 25 7-Up Commericals, 18 commercials for "Austin Powers", and ONE JP2 Commercial!!!! Here is the streaming Real Audio file of the audio track (if it's breaking up, download it directly here). A few more details: Obviously, if anyone has the new trailer on tape and would like to take pictures or make an .MOV file, it would be very appreciated. If I don't get anything, I'll probably be able to get some pictures tomorrow in school.

Another shorter JP2 trailer (about 20 seconds long) was shown earlier last night (although I somehow missed it). Homer Simpson captured an image from it:

Here's some info about Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, which will open in Florida next year: (from Gatsby's Page)

Chris reports that a large movie memorabilia store, Cinema City supposedly has "the regular poster, the script, and a set of stills from the movie". As for the hologram poster, they say that "we have received 945 calls on the 3-D poster that is being displayed in theaters for LOST WORLD - unfortunately, these posters are expensive to print and virtually none exist that are not in theaters. If seriously interested, head to your local theater manager with a wad of cash and try to strike a deal". If you're interested in the other merchandise, their number is (616)-739-8303.

Dan Worthington that the Lost World Storybook is now in stores. You can order it in the shop)

A new LW trailer has been spotted! Chris Baker, Joshua Fitch, and my brother all saw the trailer last night on MTV and TBS (it's probably on other stations as well). Here are some details: I will watch MTV all day, sitting thorough such shows like "Singled Out", and "MTV Jams" until I see the new JP2 trailer...When I do, I will put a sound file on the site. If anyone sees it and has access to video digitizing equipment, an .MOV would be appreciated!

Well, the news is just flying in today....Here's Part 3 of the Topps' Official Plot Description. If you didn't read part's 1 and 2, they're in the "Plot Summary" section. Even know this is a plot summary of the Topps Comic book, I'll bet it is very similar to the movie: (thanks to Joey G.)

Heh...isn't the word "penultimate" really cool?

Joshua Fitch has gotten his hands on the JP2 Storybook (you can order it in The Store) and sends along this info:

A Dreamworks employee reports that the official Dreamworks Web Site will be updated on Monday with movie clips of the upcoming Playstation game, still shots, storyboards and more.

An article in Variety called "Studios Shuffle Summer Slate" basically says that other studios are moving around their release dates. "You're constantly fighting for an ideal time to position every title," says Universal distribution president Nikki Rocco. "The best possible scenario would be 'Titanic' moving to Aug. 1 and 'Air Force One' bumping up a week to July 18," observes a senior exhibition executive. "But there's really not an ideal solution. Any movement of the summer's big pictures this late in the game is going to create a scramble that will result in a booking nightmare." The article also states that besides JP2, the month of May is relatively light, which could be good news for The Lost World's box-office gross. "The major question, though, is just how much of a good thing the American public is willing to support. Summer 1997 has a lineup of 10 megabudget pictures with production costs that are hovering around $100 million each...."There's no way for a picture to debut in August and gross $200 million," insists an exhibitor. "You've got two good weeks and then your audience goes back to work or school. They don't have the same leisure time quotient." (thanks to Max Szoc)

Here's more about Spielberg's decision to take a lower budget than was offered to him: (thanks to Max Szoc)

Here's another Kenner JP2 Toy Index, from Krunker418. He also says that the Hershey's chocolate is now out, as are two JP2 "plush toys" (found at Target) -- a T-Rex (sporting the colors of JP's Rex toy), and the Triceratops:

AkirA reports seeing a TLW Activity Box which had the coloring and activity books in it in a cool box with the head of the T-Rex crashing through.

Chad Garlinghouse reports that "Dunkaroos" are now being sold with JP2 shaped cookies like T-Rex, Trikes, and Stegos.

There is a special JP2 contest only open to Australian and New Zealand residences, according to Andrew. The contest's top prize, spotted on a box of Kellog's Corn Flakes, is a trip to Universal Studios' Hollywood. Other prizes include Apple Macintosh computers, Lost World Play Sets, and a Sega Saturn + JP2 video game.

At the theater to see the amazingly bad movie, Volcano, last night, they had a huge JP2 poster on the wall, with the T-Rex bursting through the JP2 logo. The poster was around 7 feet high, and about 5 feet wide. Ryan says that at his movie theater, they several large Lost World logo floor mats or floor decals spread around on the lobby carpet.

There are a few more pics up at Chris' LW Scrapbook Page.

More quotes from the movie from the Scrapbook, thanks to "Goofy":

Here's a pic of the Lost World Bookcovers that were mentioned a few days ago. Check your school to see if they've gotten any! (thanks to "KJoker5"):

Here's a possible scene straight from the rumor mill, care of "Eraser":

Coolness. : )

Gatsby's LW Page reports that Universal wants to continue the JP line with possibly a TV Series, a comic book series, and another movie.

Mercedez-benz, having secured the exclusive rights to provide the vehicles seen in The Lost World (the new Mercedes M-Class), is also planning a full-scale marketing blitz to go along with the release of the film: "This is a great promotional opportunity for Mercedes-Benz," said Rich Anderman, general manager of marketing communications for MBNA. "We think it catches the spirit of the new M-Class which combines rugged off-road capability with passenger car handling and safety features." The new vehicles will will debut four in 1997 (as 1998 models) including the newly arrived two-seater SLK roadster; the stylish CLK coupe and E-Class wagon which arrive in the fall; and the M-Class. The M-Class is expected to be priced in the mid-$30,000 range. (from a Business Wire press release provided by KBubsy2256)

Unfortunately when the server crashed yesterday, it brought the Weekly Poll down with it. Sorry to say, you'll have to vote again :(. Because of this, I will extend the poll until Thursday of next week.
