it's the same body as the Quetzalcoatlus in the JP

This month's Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms the fact that there are still no plans to make a JP2 video game for the Nintendo 64. (thanks to Rabbit)
Thanks to "DanielL" for pointing out some new info from the InGen Intranet on the official JP2 page:
- You can now access Ludlow's e-mail and read here that, "The InGen board of directors has unanimously passed a resolution removing you as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately....From now on, I'm the one calling the shots....Best wishes on your environmental crusade, but I don't work for Mother Nature."
- From the Marketing section comes this letter: "Thanks to quick and decisive action by the InGen board of directors, the day has come that we've all been waiting for. It is time to harvest the significant productive assets that we have attempted to hide, at great expense, when we could have safely displayed them for profit. Enormous profit!...The InGen waterfront complex will be completed and ready to receive visitors in less than a month. The animals are fully developed; the round up team leaves tomorrow for Site B; specially-equipped transport trucks are currently being road-tested.Your job to see to it that the amphitheater is completely sold out on opening day....I look forward to receiving your proposal, Peter Ludlow" (thanks to Monstar)
- Here are some pictures of the "Round-Up Team". There are two characters who I have not seen before, Ajay Sidhu and Dr. Robert Burke (who looks a lot like Dr. Robert Bakkar, real-life dino expert). There's also a picture of Dietar Stark, as well as a picture of Ludlow himself.
As for the actors playing these characters, we know that Pete Postlewaite is playing Roland Tembo. Peter Stormare may be the one playing Dietar Stark and MR Gopakumar, who I had heard a very long time ago would be in the film, might be playing Ajay Sidhu. I have no idea who might be playing "Dr. Burke" (if he's a character at all--might be a joke, since he looks so much like Dr. Bakkar)
If you don't feel like waiting for the JP2 trailer to download, you might try getting the RealVideo version of the new trailer off of Chris' server. (Get RealVideo here)
Look for a brand-new section to this page in the next few days......Oh yeah, the main pages have been updated.

As rumored, the Official JP2 Page was updated late yesterday. Here's what's new--Of course, if you want do discover things yourself, don't read below...
- Using some of the most innovative JavaScript I have ever seen, you can access Hammond's Computer, by actually typing with the graphical keyboard. Use the password hammondj and the password Gandhi. Using the authentic Mac-type system, you can read Hammond's e-mail and see two pics from the movie, here (a dinosaur graveyard) and here.
- Also in Hammond's computer, you click on Video and use the login hammondj and the password 7ACS4598 to gain access to the video clips (or just click here). There are two clips available, the JP2 Trailer (in 8.5 and 5meg Quicktime formats), as well as a "behind the scenes look with Steven Spielberg", which uses streaming video (I couldn't get this to work).
- Also from Hammond's computer, you can click on Genetics and, using the login "Footprints" and password "C5H6A9O5S", you can get here. However, there's not much to learn...Basically it says that after evacuating Site B during a storm, the dinosaurs survived and now rule the island.
- In the "Apps" section of Hammond's computer, you can download the .MOV trailer of the upcoming Playstation game, or view pics from Trespasser: Jurassic Park.
- Moving out of Hammond's computer, here is a picture of the "Lost World Truck" that I mentioned yesterday.
- That's about it...I also found some of the Easter Egg's, but I don't want to give them away for those of us who want to win the upcoming contest : )
Thanks to Jeremiah for first alerting me that the page was updated, Ryan Salmon for e-maling me the access codes, and Mike.
Today's LW Merchandise report: Both Dinoman and Chris Baker have spotted an offer for a free "Glow in the Dark Dino Bouncer" on marked boxes of Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, French Toast Chunch, Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs, and Lucky Charms.
Talking about cereals, on the large 48oz boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios (sold in "club" stores, like "BJ's" or "Sam's"), you can send away for a free Lost World T-Shirt (with 2 UPC's). The 48oz boxes of (regular) Cheerios come with 2 "dino coins". Oh yeah, they both have the "roaring box" contest.

The following article appeared in yesterday's L.A. Times. Excerpts:
A SCARY 'WORLD': Is It a Health Hazard--or Just Good Marketing?
- Exhibitors showing Universal's "The Lost World" trailer, with its specially rigged strobe lights synced to surround sound, received instructions on studio stationery requesting that they, for legal reasons, post the following notice:
"This theater is showing a trailer for one of the most anticipated movies of 1997....This Trailer Is Intense.....If you are sensitive to strong flashing light or sound effects or if you are attending this theater with children who may be sensitive to these effects, we strongly recommend that you leave the auditorium when this trailer is being shown.
Thank you--The Management and Universal Pictures"
As any armchair psychologist will tell you, the fastest way to get someone to do something is to tell him it's bad for his health. Which is why the 70-second spot, playing in theaters throughout the United States and Toronto, including Cineplex Odeon's Universal City complex, has been dismissed in some quarters as "crass showmanship" and "a cheap box-office ploy."
Universal's Sutton shrugs off all talk of ulterior motives. Reverse psychology?" he says. "Geez, it's only a trailer. There was no intent to do any sort of William Castle stuff."
Dr. Martha Morrell, director of the Stanford Epilepsy Center, assesses the risk from brief strobe flashes as "minimal to insignificant--light- or photo-sensitive epilepsy, which exists in 1% of epileptics, is triggered by repeated flashes at a certain frequency--10 to 50 flashes per second. "It sounds like [the studio] is exaggerating the risk, like producers did with heart attacks in the old horror movies."
Intense movie effects are hardly new. "Looking for Mr. Goodbar," "Cruising" and "Alien" all made heavy use of flashing strobes.
The June issue of Games Magazine had a short article about the February '97 Toy Fair in NYC. The JP2 toy that was mentioned said that, "the Jurassic Park R/C Truck (Tyco) combines a remote-control truck with a cage holding a hidden surprise: Hit the switch and up pops a Dilophosaurus (the spitter) who shoots his venom (water) over 20 feet". (Thanks to BiffFoil)
Saw on Gatsby's Page that this week's issue of Advertising Age Magazine had a short article on merchandise.
- Fruit of the Loom and Seabell Sportwear are doing the LW clothes.
- S. Goldberg, Inc. is making kids shoes that leave dinosaur footprints
- Tropicana is going to promote its Pure Premium large size ("dino" size) drink. The Tropicana director of marketing said that people would get a special surprise when they opened the "Lost World" drinks, but he didn't elaborate on what that surprise was.
- Kodak is also doing LW photo albums and stationery.
