Thanks to Blake Cooper for the great picture of Cameron Thor. I'm still looking for pictures of the following: MR Gopakumar, Thomas Duffy, Harvey Jason, Richard Schiff, and Michael Lanteri. If you have a picture, please send it along, and you will be credited on my page.
A crew working on the movie reportedly had to destroy the hold of
ship to look like a T-Rex had done it. Steve (aka. Mr. Human).
By the way, Steve wanted me to tell everyone that the official JP2 leather bomber jacket is still for sale. He's asking for $500, so e-mail him your best offer!
David Koepp most likely got paid 1.5 million to convert the novel into the screenplay, not 15 million or $150,000. Thanks to Daniel Cohen for clearing that up.
There is a picture of the new Mercades M Class that was used in the film in this month's Road and Track magazine. I have the picture in my hand right now, but the scanner at school was not behaving well today, so I'll try to get that to everyone tomorrow. Thanks Shabier Raffee and Jeff Oakes for the tid-bit.

A scooper at Coming Attractions says that there will be two different types of Mercedes vehicles in the movie, one "jeep-style" vehicle with a "passenger side chair that shoots out the side on rails so that the passenger may get a clear shot at running dinos", as well as another huge vehicle which serves as the portable laboratory and base. This huge vehicle is capable of rising up, as described in the novel, creating a "high-hide" for the scientists.
Still looking for the following pictures: MR Gopakumar, Thomas Duffy, Harvey Jason, Richard Schiff, and Michael Lanteri. If you have a picture, please send it along, and you will be credited on my page.
Brand new logo, thanks to Sean O'Grady. I also changed the font on the main page to Ariel. It's a bit easier to read, in my opinion.

Lots of new information, thanks to the Coming Attractions page. Here is the Reader's Digest version--make sure you check out the above page for the full scoops:
- "[A] dinosaur with chameleon-like abilities will supposedly open and close the film, trying to nip at one of the characters."
- "I have seen a dinosaur graveyard with reports of seeing Goldblum/Moore
running through and/or hiding in the rib-cage of a very large dinosaur."
- "there [will be] a fully-functional, walking Triceratops in this flick...there's a scene in the shooting script which calls for [the Triceratops] to 'catch on fire'."
- "[The] downtown Burbank scenes were of a San Diego Transit bus hitting a CG-dinosaur, hence 'blowing up'."
- "[Another] major sequence is a posse of 'raptor hunters' formed to kill the creatures in a San Diego subdivision. The unlucky hunters are cornered in a cul-de-sac and torn apart by cg raptors."
- A news report on a television station reportidly showed a sneak preview of the movie. "The sequence showed Ian Malcolm hanging from a double-trailer that was suspended on the edge of a cliff. When interviewed, Jeff Goldblum said he was not allowed to say anything about the film." Note from Dan: If anyone has a tape of this, I'd like to see it, and maybe get pictures/videos onto the page. E-mail me.
Anyone interested in buying an official "Jurassic Park 2" leather bomber jacket, exactly like the ones worn by the cast and crew? If you're interested, contact "Mr. Human". He's asking $500, so give him your best offer..

An anonymous source wanted to let me know that Ariana Richards is most likely making a cameo in the second movie: "Based on an interview with her in a teen mag, and the fact that she's writing a book based on her experiences making Jurassic Park, [..] I believe that it's safe to assume that she'll be in it.". Yeah, that's what I thought.
Thanks to Christopher Nuzzi for correcting a spelling error.."Stegosaurus" was spelt wrong. It's kinda funny, because this same error was made in the movie. In the scene where Nedry is stealing the embryo's, if you look carefully, you can see that one of the containers is mis-spelt.
Hope everyone enjoyed the picture yesterday. I had a helluva time getting it onto this page. I actually borred a digital camera at school, then took a picture of the television. At home, I spent about an hour touching it up with Paint Shop Pro (I had to remove a huge glare in the middle). Hopefully I'll be getting a TV board soon, which will make it easier for future pictures. Anyway, if you have a picture from JP2, or know when one will be on TV, please let me know! Thanks!

You saw it here first! Presenting the first picture of Jurassic Park: The Lost World to be seen anywhere on the Internet!
Click on the image to see a larger version of the picture.
In this scene, we see four of JP2's main characters...Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcom), Juliana Moore (Dr. Sarah Harding), and Vince Vaughn (playing a "photographer"), running towards what looks like Pete Stormare (as Richard Levine). [Picture originally from the TV show, Access Hollywood]
A message posted on the Usenet group alt.movies.spielberg gives some more information on the JP2 sets:
"I got to walk around the sets for Lost World last week, since they're done shooting and no more security (first time I tried, there were these guards standing there watching everything).....It's a large outdoor set on the Universal lot, with several buildings, one of
which has a huge lookout tower. The place was trashed whe I saw it--it
was supposed to look aged and rusty, but there were crashed jeeps all
over and broken "glass" and stuff.
What amazed me is that the whole thing was not very secluded from the
rest of Uni lot, and the Psycho house is literally steps from the edge
of the set, which is bounded by those tall electric fences like in the
first one. My guess is that they will be painting out the surroundings
with CG fx and the place will look very different on film." [Post by Glenn Sanders]
Another possible plot summary (although a partial one), from the newsgroup, alt.movies.spielberg:
The first half is on Island Sorna, and follows the book somewhat. The
last half involves the escape of the dinos to the mainland (yeah!) and
they end up in a rampage in San Diego. Unfortuanately, those evil
humans capture a T-rex, and imprision him in ropes on an aircraft
carrier, with a whole fleet to stop him from escaping to his true
freedom. [Post by:Toon]

Brandon Shaw e-mailed me saying that he heard that indeed, Joseph Mazello ("Tim") is in JP2, but only has one speaking line. This most likely means that Ariana Richards ("Lex") makes a cameo appearance in the movie as well.
Lots of new information about the JP2 video/computer game that is in production: The working title is now "Trespasser: Jurassic Park". The game will not just be a companion to the movie, but an entire new adventure, taking place after the events in JP2 unfold. "[It is] the digital sequel to Lost World:Jurassic Park", says director Steven Spielberg. From the Dreamworks webpage:
"[Trespasser: Jurassic Park is] an action game in which the player plays a series of five characters, struggling to survive on a mysterious island populated by genetically engineered dinosaurs. Based meticulously on creatures created for the film by Stan Winston Studios and ILM, the over 25 species of dinosaurs featured in the game animate, stalk, track, attack and fight in realtime in an expansive island environment packed with biological perils."
Interesting enough, today at Babbages, I saw a video demo of the upcoming game. As an avid game enthusiest (I run the Computer gaming section at Suite 101), I can say with authority that this game looks very cool. A few scenes were displayed which showed off the game's impressive 3D engine, including one where a dinosaur (it looked like a Procompsognathus) was running forward, trying to swerve around several Brachiosaurs who happened to be walking the other way. The action was very smooth and the polygon count in the characters was very high....of course, it was a preview for the Playstation version, so the PC version may be different. The game is scheduled to be released in late 1997 (or, as CGW says, "according to typical computer game patterns, early '98). For more information and pictures from the game, check out this CGW online article: "Trespasser: Jurassic Park Is No Technical Dinosaur".
I got rid of the un-necessary images on the main page, because it was starting to take a long time to load. You can still view the images by clicking on the link next to the title of each main section.

About the filming in Northern California, Don Ackerman adds that "[They were] filming up by Humbolt State, I have been up there, it is very beautiful, and the scenery should be great for the sequel. They shot there for about 2 months."
I moved some information around on the main page. Still working on getting that picture. Oh yeah, if you want to see a good movie, you have to see Evita. I've seen many musicals on Broadway, and I'd consider this movie just as good, if not better, than a show in New York. I kept feeling like I should be applauding after each song...

On the TV show, Access Hollywood last night, there was a short segment on one of the stars of JP2, Vince Vaughn. The show was saying how he was a basically unknown actor until his excellent performance in the movie Swingers and that Steven Speilberg wanted him specifically to play a role in The Lost World. Near the end of the piece, they showed a black-and-white picture from JP2. Here's a short description, to the best of my ability.
The three main characters (Ian, Harding, and the "Photographer", played by Vaughn) are running in the rain toward another character (Levine?) who is holding a rifle. This may be a wild guess, but I'd bet the ranch that they're running from a dinosaur.
I taped the entire thing, and I will try to get the picture onto this site somehow. I either have to buy one of those "Snappy" things, or find someone who has one. Anyway, it may be a week or two. If someone else taped it and has some way to get the picture onto their computer, please e-mail it to me! Also, be on the lookout for other pictures/trailers on other TV shows (still looking for the trailer).
The Lost World: Jurassic Park will be released in Germany on August, 7th 1997.
Supposidly some principle photography took place in the forests of Northern California. Don Ackerman says: "Northern California looks very much like a forest, not a tropical forest. Jurassic Park was a tropical look, but 'The Lost World' will have a forest look."

Curtis Bateman wanted to add another possible scene: "The T-REX flips over the research trailer that Ian Malcom and Sarah Harding are in and he looks down snarling at Ian."
The HTML coding mentioned on Wednesday is now done. (You'll notice that a new browser window will open when clicking on an external link, instead of displaying it in the main window.) If you find a broken link, please e-mail me. Also, I've decided to move all the information that has to do with dinosaurs to the "Cast" section--many people will agree that in the first movie, the dinosaurs were the real main characters.

I decided to give the page a little face-lift. Notice the handy-dandy frame on the left with the list of available sections. Clicking on a link there will jump to the coorsponding section here. Clicking on "Main Menu" will jump to the top of the page. I also decided to move the entire "What's New" section to another page--it's a little more work for me, but I figured that the main page was getting a little big. There are a few little things I have to do with the page HTML-wise, so be patient. Any comments/suggestions, feel free to e-mail me.
Thanks to Chris Melchior for catching a few mistakes with the dinosaur names. (See the Production section)

Some more juicy information from Ain't It Cool News?.
- First off, Stan Winston and his crew were busy early in the production making several dinosaur models for the movie. Apparently, a new Velociraptor, a Stegosaurus, a Parasaurolophus, Procompsognathus ("Compy"), a head and tail for the Pterandon, and a Pachycephalosaurus have all been made and are in the movie. I'm going to start to find pictures of these dinosaurs for everyone...
- Secondly, another possible scene was mentioned: "There will be a scene in which an unknown dinosaur comes through some bushes to drink from a swimming pool. Then those pesky impact tremors begin
forming in the swimming pool signaling the arrival of the big guy, Mr Rex."
When e-mailing me with any new information you might have, please specify if you want your name and/or e-mail address to be mentioned in my page. I figure most people do, but if your an internal Universal employee, or something to that extent, let me know. Thanks.

A brief blurb in a Yahoo Entertainment article today mentions the 42 theaters that are equipped to flash lights to simulate lightning during the trailer. "Best Trailer Oscar: It may be tough for the next 'Jurassic Park' movie to top its trailer.", says the blurb. (thanks to Chris Brown)

Lots of new information, thanks to Ain't it cool news!:
- The "unnamed flying birds will be called 'Terranadons'", which have "a more bird-like look than the traditional dactyls we have seen in Harryhausen films [King Kong, etc.]." These shots will be handled with computer graphics, but "Stan Winston and his crew have created a close up head and claw".
- Also on that page, it is reported that the Stegosaurus will make an appearance in the movie.
- Finally, Harry's informants tell him that "the second half of the script is completely different [than the book]"
The above information has been added to their respective sections. Still looking for the following pictures: Cameron Thor (played Dogson in JP1), MR Gopakumar, Thomas Duffy, Harvey Jason, Richard Schiff, and Michael Lanteri. If you have a picture, please send it along, and you will be credited on my page.
Curtis Bateman has some exclusive info on JP2 for us. He says in an e-mail to me that when he was on a V.I.P. tour at Universal Studios this Thanksgiving, he was shown three sets from the movie. "One was a research lab that they building for the movie. The second was a indoor set that had lots of trees and a sign that said "Ingen:We make the future" or something like
that. The third was an African marketplace that was set outside".
Katy e-mailed me to say that she saw the trailer for JP2 before Beavis and Butthead. Even though I saw B&B (it sucked) too, I didn't see the trailer, but the point is that the JP2 trailer is out there....
Also added: Australian release date, and info on the Knowledge Adventure contest.
Whoops! I just figured out that the links to the Internet Movie Database would point you to the wrong movie or person because of the way the the IMDB is set up. So I went through and changed all the links--everything should work now. If you find a broken link, please mail me.

In Jurassic Park 2 news today.... I added a picture of Dennis Muren and a link to an ILM page. [Thanks to Chris M. Dugas for the info]. Also added a picture of Stan Winston.

Added some info about JP3: the book (Thanks to J.J), more production information, and more scene rumors.
Has anyone seen the trailer for The Lost World on the TV show, "Coming Attractions" on E! Entertainment television? I'm pretty sure I've seen most of the shows, but I may have missed an episode...Oh yeah, I'm still looking for a picture of the following people: Cameron Thor (played Dogson in JP1), MR Gopakumar, Thomas Duffy, Harvey Jason, Richard Schiff, and Michael Lanteri. If you have a picture, please send it along, and you will be credited on my page. Thanks!

Added some rumors about JP3.

Thanks to Zaid Mahdi for confirming that indeed, at least some of JP2 was filmed in Burbank, California. Zaid mentions that, "on that night, they had closed a few blocks of San Fernando Rd. which runs through downtown Burbank. They had a few huge light projectors that made the night look like day..From what I was able to see from behind the barricades, the scene being shot involved a car accident of somewhat (I might be wrong) and a bus (I believe) , I was a bit far away."
Hey, guess what? This page won an award from WebAward in Germany! The only problem is, that the site is in German, so, uh..I can't read what they're saying. Oh well.
12-25-96
Added some more pictures and links. If anyone has pictures of the people
who I missed, please e-mail me with the location of the picture. Thanks!
Well, I had a little Jurassic Park related surprise today! My family and I were at the movies today for our annual Christmas movie outing (we saw Jerry McGuire), and guess what movie preview I saw?!?!?!?! YES! THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK!!!!! In a word, it was "awesome". I can't really add much to the description of the trailer below, except to say that there is one point where you see the T-Rex. It's a very close shot, looking up from below. The lighting on the animal is very nice...there's lightning, and in the flashes, you see his right leg lift up, and then in the next flash of light, it crashes down on the camera. Very cool. Then, in the footprint it leaves behind, the swirling JP logo is seen. At first, you can't tell it's the JP logo, then it slows down, until the new The Lost World: Jurassic Park logo is prominent. The whole thing lasts about 15 seconds.
